Stargazing
I just wanted to get this out so it's super rushed. I'll edit this tomorrow. So you'll see some changes. Enjoy, anyway!

Thursday, 10:00 PM
Nene was afraid. She left a letter earlier this morning, a letter where she expressed her love and admiration towards the school president, Minamoto Teru, but he was absent and so the letter was left in his locker to be opened tomorrow.
The thing is, Nene was anxious ever since she heard about the rumor that Teru had a crush on a girl in his class. It made her restless, she couldn't even focus on her assignments.
Was she just getting her hopes up? Was the risk not worth taking? What if Teru became uncomfortable after reading it? Would Teru shun her?
Oh, but that's not what scared her. Well, not right now.
The fear was from possibly getting caught sneaking into school at night.
"I can't believe I'm doing this." Yashiro murmured.
Finally expressing her feelings took a lot of courage, so it was such a waste to just back out-- That was what she thought when it was time to head home.
And now she was immediately regretting not backing out when she had the chance.
Nene had gotten through the gate, and was trying to get inside. But all the doors were sealed tight, so she had to find another, so she searched the perimeter, trying to find an opening.
Now, although this operation would've been safer in the morning, it wouldn't work. Teru, as the school president, arrives early before anyone else-- Heck, even before most of the teachers-- He makes sure that none of the school's property are taken, as well as keeping check that all things are where they should be, and no one was to go in before he checks everything.
Nene didn't want to risk being seen sneaking by Teru.
But that thought seemed more welcoming than the constant blow of the wind, strangely sounding like it was whispering...
Nene shivered, from fear and from the cold. She didn't bother grabbing a jacket and only wore a thin shirt and shorts with her black stockings. She knew that combination won't protect her from the cold, but she was much too in a hurry to care about such things.
If only she wasn't here on a mission, she could've enjoyed the starry night. This night was lively, and what made it even more intriguing was that a comet, called Neowise, was at its closest. Yashiro wasn't a fan of astronomy, but that fact was interesting. Though she doesn't have the luxury to spend the night stargazing because she needed to save her dignity.
After a few minutes of searching, Nene spotted an open window. Luckily, it was in the first floor so she can get in it easy.
Nene wondered why it was left open like that, but she just went in, she had a mission to do.
Nene squirmed through the opening, and landed ungracefully inside. Nene looked at where she was and figured out that she was in one of the teacher's office, specifically Tsuchigomori-sensei's.
Nene looked through some more, feeling though the dark. Again, because of her restlessness and impatience, she forgot to bring a flashlight. When she found the door, however, she didn't open it right away.
Yashiro breathed out, grazing her fingers on the cold surface of the door knob. Beyond these doors, she could run in into the security guard. And this guard was one tough cookie, and is hard to negotiate with, so getting caught was not an option.
There was also a rumor about a ghost running about the halls and stealing the telescopes, but she tried hard not to think of that.
Nene slowly opened the door, peeking through the gap. When she was sure the coast was clear, she slipped out of the room and quietly made her way to the shoe lockers-- Which are at the front of the school and is most likely where the guard is at.
She'll need to be very quiet, though the wooden floorboards were no help since they will creak if you step on the wrong one.
Though so far, everything was quiet. Nene thought that everything was going smoothly-- Except for the fact that she was freezing and she could barely see.
She passed through hall after hall, trying desperately to not make any sounds.
She passed through library, the music room, then the science lab--
A crash.
Nene heard a crash. She turned to the science lab, hearing the faint sound of footsteps and a small groan.
Supressing a yelp, Nene tried to keep her body moving.
She heard footsteps heading to where she stood at the moment. Nene looked around for a place to hide, but the only place was the science lab, and she didn't want to figure out what was in there.
The footsteps grew louder, meaning they were closer. Nene shook away the fear.
'It's probably nothing. It's probably nothing!' She chanted in her head as she dived in the room and hid behind one of the shelves.
Nene breathed in and out, and her wheezing was too loud for comfort. She was still worried about the scurrying she heard in here, and it made her heart pound.
The footsteps were getting nearer and nearer as her wheezing became louder and louder.
Suddenly, Nene felt a hand cup her mouth and a head perched on her shoulder, "Shh..." It hushed her, their hot breath against the shell of her ear.
And because of how sudden it was, she let out a very loud yelp.
The footsteps stopped at the door. Yashiro shivered, feeling scared. When the being behind her shifted, she couldn't resist the urge to scream.
And of course, the guard heard.
"Ugh, great." A boy's voice grumbled behind her. "Put this on." He instructed, giving her a mask.
Nene gave a confused look. He groaned quietly, "Do you wanna get caught?"
Nene shook her head.
"Then put it on." The boy behind her commanded as the guard finally entered the science lab. "We're making a run for it." He whispered in her ear.
Eyes widened, Nene quickly wore the mask, "W-What?"
The stranger then pulled on her arm, and sprinted towards the door, passing by the guard in the process. Yashiro almost tripped, but she caught up eventually.
"Hey, stop right there!" The guard shouted.
Nene shivered, feeling the rush of danger overcome her fear. The strange boy still clutched her hand and pulled her along, and his other hand clasped on what seemed to be a telescope.
Nene's eyes widened, but she had bigger things to worry about than the stranger. If he was helping her, then that was enough for her to trust him-- For a moment, at least.
His movements were so swift, so silent. It was like he was a ghost just floating though the hall. With each ghostly step, he moved faster. Yashiro wasn't sporty or athletic in the least, but the adrenaline coursing through her veins powered her legs to move faster.
"Come back here!" The guard roared. The boy didn't falter, and didn't seem to be fazed at all, and kept on sprinting with his hands grasping tightly at both Yashiro's hand and the telescope.
They turned sharply to a corner, and sped up the stairs, going towards the roof.
When they reached the roof, they hid, trying their best not to make too much noise.
The guard entered the roof, seemed to have glanced for a little while before giving up and locking the door.
Nene hadn't felt this free in a while, and the cold breeze-- That was even worse since they were high up-- didn't even bother her in the slightest. It was then she realized that the guard had locked the door. Also known as, the only way out.
"Oh, no!" Nene cried, pulling the mask down, frantically turning the door knob, and yet, to no suprise, it didn't even budge.
"Don't worry, the guard usually unlocks the rooftop before he leaves, since 5 minutes after that, the president will come by and check." The boy assumed.
"And what time does he usually leave..?" Nene asked relunctantly, knowing she'll be disappointed in what she hears.
"Around 5 am. Don't worry." The boy shrugged, as if it was nothing.
"Don't worry?! I'm gonna spend the whole night here--!" Nene felt a slender finger placed on her lips, causing her to look up at the boy.
The boy in front of her had choppy brown hair, with enchanting amber eyes that almost seemed to glow in the dark. He wore a simple blue shirt and black slacks. His black mask pulled down and had his glossy lips in display, and a patch on his face and several bandaids on his arms. Nene's breath hitched. If he was a bit taller, he would've been Nene's new crush. Though he was no where near as princely!
"Shh... You're shouting is gonna get us both in trouble, and you don't want that, right?"
"I have to get it!" Nene clawed at the door desperately, and kept knocking on it.
"You know, that door's pretty old. If you keep doing that, we might never get out of here. Or we might get saved by the teachers and get suspended or expelled. Just saying." The boy shrugged, but it was clear that he was teasing her.
Nene puffed her cheeks, "Fine. Fine. I can still get it if I hurry. But in the mean time..." Nene's voice trailed off, "What are you doing stealing telescopes?"
The brunet raised a brow, "Likewise, what are doing sneaking around the school this late at night?" The boy retorted slyly.
Nene scoffed, replying, "For your information, I'm trying to save myself from possibly making the biggest mistake of my life!"
"For your information, I'm merely borrowing this telescope." He patted the telescope beside him, "I'm going to return it once I'm done."
"Sure, you will." Nene rolled her eyes. "How are we even sure that the guard will come and open the door on time?"
"Trust me. I've done this before." He replied confidently.
'Clearly.' Nene thought.
"Aw, not even a thank you after I saved you?" The boy cooed in an innocent-like manner. It was cute, but it was also very annoying.
Nene scoffed and turned away, "Thank you." She mumbled.
"Smile."
"What?" Nene asked incredulously.
"I said, smile." He repeated, "It's more sincere if you smile."
'If it'll get this conversation somewhere.' Nene thought and forced a smile. "Thank you." She said through her teeth.
"That's better! Girls are cuter when they smile!" The stange boy patted her head.
Nene pushed his hand away, her cheeks dusting a faint pink, "You do know that this is sexual harrassment, right?" She huffed.
"Yup!" The brunet replied cheerfully, despite himself. And began to settle himself in the middle of the roof, like he had done this millions of times before.
Nene just slid her back against the door, and sat down, watching the strange boy work.
His eyes were alight with wonder as he moved. Nene could tell clear as day that stargazing was something he enjoyed.
Nene shivered, feeling the cold nipping at her porcelain skin. The lack of proper clothing had bitten her in the bum. She couldn't help grumble. She rubbed her arms for warmth, yet it could only do so much.
She had to spend the entire night here, with a stranger, outside, and in the cold. Great, just great.
Nene spared a glance at the strange boy, only to find that he was no longer there. Nene, in a moment of panic, abruptly stood and went in search for him. For all she knows, he might've fell and crashed into the ground.
Searching every nook and cranny, Nene tried to find the strange yet annoyingly charming lad, but to no avail.
Just as she was about to give up, she felt a figure shift behind her.
"BOO!"
"Aaaaaaahh--!!!" Nene sent a kick to its stomach, only to find out that she had attacked the choppy haired stranger who she still didn't know the name of. He appeared to have a blanket in his right hand, while his left clutched his now sore stomach.
"Oh, my gosh. I am so sorry. I thought you were a pervert, or a ghost!" Nene aided him, helping him stand to his feet.
"Wow, those radish legs of yours are strong..." He let out a chuckle.
Nene let go of him, sending him back to the ground with an oof.
"Hey." The brunet whined, holding his sore stomach.
"That's for scaring me, and calling me a radish, hmph!"
"I was just looking for the blanket I left here last time... And I just happen to have been given a perfect chance for a good scare."
Nene then stormed off.
"Hey! Injured person here!" He hollered with a frown while Nene made her way back to door. Nene leaned against the old wooden door, crossing her arms with a huff.
The boy, after regaining some strength from that injuring blow, settled himself in the middle of the roof where he had placed the telescope, wrapping himself in the blanket he was holding.
Nene was jealous. She was about to freeze herself to death, but she wasn't going to consider apologizing to that insolent brat. Nene looked away, her cheeks stained red because of the cold.
Her teeth were chattering, and she tried to warm herself by rubbing her arms, but none worked. She sighed, until she felt a figure stand in front of her.
"Y'know, this blanket is big enough for the both of us. Want to share?" The brunet suggested.
Nene was glaring at him, despite the fact that she really wanted to say yes to that offer.
She looked away.
The young man sighed, holding her hands and placing them on his face, "Your hands are cold. A lady shouldn't freeze herself to death." Though how he worded it was a bit mocking, the way he said it was not.
Havaing enough of the cold, Nene agreed. They went to the middle of the roof and snuggled in the blanket. Nene sighed, happy she had finally gotten warmth. She didn't even care that she was sharing a blanket with a stranger right now.
Speaking of...
"What's your name?" Nene asked.
"Curious, are we?" He smiled playfully. Nene shot him a look, and he chuckled.
"My name..." He seemed to be in thought, as if he had forgotten his name. "Hanako... Yeah, the name's Hanako." He smiled, his mischievious amber eyes alight.
Yashiro wasn't sure if she should believe him or not.
"Hanako? Isn't that a girl's name--"
"I guess you don't want to be in the blanket then--"
"I'm sorry! Hanako is a cool name!." Nene apologized quickly, refusing to give away the warmth that the blanket provided. 'Hanako', as he said his name was, smirked.
"And what's yours?"
"Nene. Yashiro Nene."
Hanako tapped his chin, "I think Radish legs suit you better, don't you think?"
Nene raised her fists, threatening to hit him. He waved his arms in defeat and decided to just look through the telescope.
A moment of silence lingered between the two.
This night will be quite a weird one.
"I'm sorry I kicked your stomach."
"I'm sorry for scaring you."
Nene gazed at the stars.
But maybe it won't be all that bad.

11:07 PM
After a long, quiet hour of humming and staring at the night sky, Nene was suddenly interested about what Hanako was doing. He spent the last hour just looking through the telescope. He was definitely dedicated.
"What are you looking at?" Nene inquired curiously.
"I'm looking for Comet Neowise. It's at its closest, so I'm trying to remember as much as I can about tonight." Hanako explained. Nene saw the passion that glinted in his amber eyes, and she couldn't help but blush. She was grateful she could use the cold as an excuse for her crimson cheeks because if he knew, even after only meeting him an hour ago, he will most definitely tease her.
"I heard about that from Aoi." Nene continued the conversation.
"It's only been discovered this year, so I wouldn't miss it for the world." Hanako explained passionately.
"And a small telescope like that isn't able to spot it." Nene pointed out.
"Maybe, maybe not. But it's worth the try." Hanako said.
'He obviously has a positive mindset.' Nene thought, somewhat amazed.
"But if I don't manage to see it, I'll be crushed and I will give up on astronomy." Hanako added.
'Nevermind.'
"Y'know, you could've just observed from your house." Yashiro pointed out.
"I don't have a telescope. And the school has both a telescope and a rooftop." Hanako uttered.
"And I don't want to be around him..." He mumbled, almost like he was in pain.
Nene glanced at his arms, and thought not to continue with that topic. He seemed uncomfortable, and she really didn't want this awkward night to become worse.
Nene thought for a moment.
"Wait--!" Nene gasped, "You're that ghost that keeps stealing the telescopes!"
"Hey! I told you! I'm borrowing them, I'll bring them back!" Hanako argued.
"Oh my god, I've been hanging out with a ghost!" Yashiro dramatically thought aloud. "So you have done this before!"
"You just figured that out?" Hanako sarcastically retorted.
"How did you get in anyway?" Nene questioned.
"Secret opening." He answered with pride.
'That explains the open window.' Nene thought.
"What are you doing here anyway?" Hanako changed the subject, "This isn't really a place for a radish."
Nene glared at him. Hanako chuckled.
"I'm here to take back the letter I left in Teru-senpai's locker, and save myself from rejection." Nene explained. Somehow, opening up seemed not too hard.
"Ah, so that's why you're here at night." Hanako nodded his head, "Yup, you're gonna get rejected."
"Hanako-san!" Yashiro punched his shoulder. Hanako groaned, rubbing yet another injury caused by the girl. He swore the next time he goes to the hospital, the doctor will be suprised that his brother wasn't the reason for his injuries.
"But rejection is part of the process," Hanako continued. Nene stopped her ceasless beatings and listened, "If he likes you, then go for it. If he doesn't, you move on."
"It sounds simple but it's not." Nene pouted.
"Just leave the letter, you'll see." Hanako shrugged, acting like he didn't care.
"Though if it were me, I would treat you way better." Hanako smirked, teasing Nene.
Nene slapped the back of his head.

Friday, 12:04 AM
"Still nothing..." Hanako mumbled after another hour of searching.
"I told you, you're not going to find anything, Hanako-san." Yashiro said.
"I will find it! I just have to keep searching." Hanako argued, rubbing his eyes, and swaying from
"But you've been on that thing for hours now, and you still haven't found anything. Maybe it's time you give it a rest." Nene suggested, worried about his constant swaying.
"I just have to search for it. I need to prove to my brother that I can find it. That I can find it..." His voice trailed off.
"Who am I kidding?" Hanako lowered the telescope, "I can't do this." He murmured
Nene winced, watching him easily get downcasted. He was fragile, although that was not what he intends to be.
"I-If you really want to see it, I can help look for it." Nene offered relunctantly, her cheeks as red as crimson.
Hanako looked into her magenta eyes as Nene gazed at his amber ones. Hanako leaned in close, placing both of his palms on her cheeks.
Nene's breath hitched, and her heart was pounding like crazy.
Was she going to get her first--?
Hanako then proceeded to squish her cheeks, laughing wholeheartedly. "Falling for me already, Radish?" He teased.
Nene just about had enough with this guy. She headbutted him, making Hanako tumbled back and dragging Nene along with him.
Their faces were mere inches apart as Nene's body was placed perfectly above him. The way the moonlihht accentuated her features was enough for Hanako to stutter, "D-Do you mind getting off of me or--?" Nene quickly got off him and wrapped herself in the blanket and awkwardly stargazed through the telescope.
Hanako sat up, his cheeks dusting a faint red. Hanako and stargazed as well. He loved the smell of the fresh, cold wind, along with shine of the full moon. It was almost as if he were in space, and that made him happy.
The only thing to complete the night now was if--
"I found it!" Nene gasped.
"Found what?" Hanako asked hesitantly.
"I found comet Neowise!" Nene screamed.
"What?" Hanako breathed out incredulously.
"Look, look!" Nene excitedly gave the telescope to him, guiding him to where she had spotted it.
Hanako stood in awe, and all his weariness was washed away.
"We found it! We found it!" They both shouted before silencing themselves, reminding themselves that the guard could come in at any moment and swoop in and take away their small moment of fun.
After a half an hour of celebrating and observing, the two collapsed into the fatigue of slumber, cuddled in one blanket.
"I'm sure you'll prove him wrong." Nene unciously mumbled.
And Hanako heard her.
~~~~~~~
Friday, 4:05 AM
Morning came for the two, and with Hanako's advice, Yashiro decided to leave the letter, making all the night's struggle worthless-- Well, not all that worthless it seems.
"Are you sure you don't want to back out?" Hanako asked.
A moment of silence.
"I'm sure."
All in a span of 5 minutes, the pair returned the telescope and slip out of there unseen.
"I think I'll call you Hanako-kun from now on." Yashiro thought aloud.
Hanako tilted his head.
"It makes it seems like we're friends." Nene giggled and ran off before the sun rose.
"Goodbye, Hanako-kun! See you soon!" Nene shouted as she disappeared into the horizon.
~~~~~~~
12:00 PM
"So what happened?" Hanako asked as he leaned against the railing of the rooftop.
"Got rejected." Nene looked wistfully to the clouds.
"Told ya, you'd get rejected." Hanako teased.
"Haha, very funny, Hanako-kun." Yashiro rolled her eyes.
The pair shared a laugh.
"Call me Amane." Hanako suddenly spoke.
Nene tilted her head.
"My real name is Yugi Amane."
Nene smiled.
"Alright, Amane -kun."
