[POE DAMERON DRABBLE]

Alternative version for the last piece!

Prompt B8: "My world was black before you came into it."

Warnings: some angst, mentions of torture

Word count: 492

But after you got caught by the rebellion and held as a prisoner, you definitely weren't expecting that your point of view about the Rebellion would change. You had always thought they were only terrorists, only wanted to destroy everything, not caring about anything else than conquering the world.

That was proved to be very wrong, and the first thing you realized was that not once did they torture you, hit you - that was something you definitely didn't expect.

Your parents had told you that the Rebellion is cutting off their prisoners arms and legs when interrogating or even just for fun, one by one, even if you started talking, and that they'd kill you at the end, no matter if your intel helps them or not. That the "torture" they use was nothing beside the ways the Rebellion uses.

Second thing that you didn't expect was to befriend a Rebellion pilot named Poe Dameron. You couldn't express your deep care for him for a long time as you were still a prisoner - but General Organa saw and felt how your aspect about the Rebellion was quickly changing towards the Light side. So she let you out from your cell, you had someone by your side at all times just in case, but she wanted to show you that the Rebellion wasn't what your parents had taught it to be.

And that's how you got to know Poe better. Some people thought you're just trying to manipulate Poe to help you escape, but Poe didn't doubt your intentions. Something in you, in your eyes made him believe in you being honest when you told him that your opinion was changing, that the Rebellion wasn't like you thought it would be.

Sometimes Poe could take you to watch a sunset without your guard coming along, and those times you could really talk about deep things, and Poe gradually making you believe that it's the Empire that's wrong.

"You know, my world was black before you came into it." you confessed, and Poe turned his eyes on you. "And honestly, I don't know what to do if I'm ever released. I can't go back, not after I know what they are. That my parents have lied to me."

Poe sighed and gave your shoulder a little squeeze. "I can't even imagine how you are feeling. But you should do whatever feels right to you."

You nod, slowly realizing that the decision is yours alone. You loved your parents and had friends who worked for the Empire, but you also had bonded with people at the Rebellion. You just should choose your side - either way, you'd disappoint some people but you had to do what was right.
