You had disappeared in the middle of the day, which wasn't like you. The droid who you usually assisted told him that you had been seemingly melancholic for the past few days, a lot more in your thoughts and others had had to snap you out of it. Cassian figured that you had just gone somewhere to clear your thoughts, and began searching for you.

Cassian found you by yourself, sitting near the base, watching the sunset. He accidentally spooked you a bit when he walked beside you, making him chuckle.

"Care to have company?" he asked, and you stared at him for a second before nodding, resting your chin on your knees again.

"I think I should leave," you blurted out, and Cassian's gaze immediately snapped to you.

"What?"

"I feel like I'm not doing enough. Droids don't fight, but humans do, except for me. And I just- I'm not like everyone else, you deserve someone better."

Cassian was quick to reply without even thinking properly. "There isn't anyone better for me than you."

You blinked at him, you hadn't referred to him, you were referring to the whole group. But you won't lie, hearing Cassian say that made your heart beat just a little bit faster.

"I..." you squeaked out and immediately hid your face to your knees, making Cassian chuckle.

"You're special to me, Y/N. I know it might feel like you're not one of us because you don't fight, but you help us with little tasks. That's important for the rebellion too." he told you and you looked up to him again.

"You think so?" you asked and Cassian nodded, slinging his arm around you, letting you rest your head against his shoulder.

It was unspoken, but he knew that you liked him too. It was the first step with the next level in your friendship - maybe it would even develop into love eventually. But for now, sitting there with Cassian and watching the sun disappear behind the horizon was all you needed.
