Rey
She didn't know what to think. Or feel. She felt nothing but emptiness. Before all of this happened, there was one last ray of hope for this messed up galaxy the called home. She could feel this strong connection, but now it was just gone. She wasn't the only one who had felt this.
All of them had felt it.
She was sat beside her good furry friend, Chewbacca, in the co-pilot seat of the Millennium Falcon. Rey sighed as she took one last look at Crait; One last look at Kylo Ren, as they all disappeared into the darkness of space. Seeing them disappear, she didn't know what else to think of.
Luke Skywalker had saved them all, but most of the Resistance had died. It was like the First Order had blown out the Resistance's flame - their hope- and now there was nothing left. The Resistance was in ashes now. There was no hope. Who could they turn to? The Republic hadn't sent anybody to help. This group of left overs were all that was left. They stood no chance against them.
"ARRGHHH! ARRGHHHHHHH....." roared the walking carpet as he turned to his friend.
"I-I-I just need some time alone, Chewie." replied Rey, getting up from her seat and walking out of the musty cockpit. Her dull, lifeless hair bounced with every step she took. Her bright blue eyes had lost their glistening spark. She didn't know what to do.
"Rey," said a voice from behind her. Rey turned to see the last Skywalker, turned Solo, Leia. Her grey hair framed her wise, slightly worn, face. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine." responded Rey, flexing her fingers, as her head shook in disagreement. She sighed.
"It's going to be tough for all of us," replies Leia, putting her hands on Rey's shoulders. "But we will survive. We all way have done and we will bounce back. " Seeing that her words of wisdom hadn't sparked any...well, wisdom, an idea sparked in her ancient mind. " I need you to investigate something for me.
"Many decades ago, before you were born and I was a teen, there was a young boy and a cowboy Jedi. These two were Master and Apprentice. At the climax of the Empire, Lothal, the boy's home planet, was at the heart of the light side. Grass used to bloom across the plains. If you knew where to look, you would find a hidden temple.
"The Master and Apprentice both found this temple, and entered it." She paused, as Rey curiously listened, trying to figure out where this tale was going. "When they were inside the temple, the boy went to a journey through the temple, where it put him to the test. In the end he was gifted with a kyber crystal from Grand Master Yoda.
Later on, they returned to the temple, with my Father's Padawan, Ahsoka Tano. This time, they were tracked and found by two Inquzitors, Fifth Brother and Seventh Sister. Escaping with the help of a former foe, they return to their Rebellion. Ahsoka dies. A year goes by.
"The boy finds himself outside the temple, with its secrets being un-"
"Leia," interrupted the young Jedi, "Please cut to the point."
"Ok then." sighed Leia. "The boy basically travels through the force, where everything is connected. He can time travel. He saved Ahsoka's life. In the end he made the ultimate sacrifice, in order to free Lothal. A few years after the Battle of Endor, Ahsoka and a friend of mine - Sabine Wren went to find the boy.
"My point is that you need to go to Lothal and find this time portal. We need as many allies as we can get to defeat the First Order." Leia looked at Rey with confidence in her eyes. "You are the only one that can do this."
"Yes, General." responded Rey, thinking about how she was going to get to Lothal, since there was only one ship. "How am I going to get there?"
"I have a contact who should be dropping off a ship shortly for you." Leia brushed a small strand of her hair from her battle ready face. Her gentle gaze met Rey's as she pulled her close. She could sense Rey's anxiousness about not having a mentor. "I promise that we will fix all of this, Rey."
