Obi-Wan

He sighed, looking around at the claustrophobic hut he had called home for so many years. Backpack on his shoulder, he turned around to face the door and walked towards it, playing out all of the scenarios that could happen as soon as he walked through it for possibly the very last time. He then went to stroke his non-existent beard. He had forgotten something, but what was it? He used his eyes to scan the hut again and found what he was looking for. He walked over to the littered shelf and bagged several of his hair products. Of course, he was going to look like the Negotiator if he was going to fight again. As soon as he though of the wood fight, he patted his belt, feeling for a certain sacred weapon. Failing to locate it, he sighed; he was not as organised as he once was.

Closing his eyes, the exiled Jedi with freshly dyed hair raised his hand and concentrated. Using his wise but sassy mind, he could hear his kyber crystal call out to him. Snapping on to the location of it, he summoned it to his hand. Spinning through the air, Lightsaber Number 3 hurdled towards his hand, gracefully landing in the hands of its rightful owner.

Snap-hiss...

A blue blade suddenly luminated Kenobi's worn and tanned face. He took a deep breath, glad to have the familiar weight back in his hands. For some reason, he had the sudden instinct to activate his comlink and summon Cody to discuss battle plans.

*

"Commander Cody, the time has come. Execute Order 66."

Obi-Wan Kenobi suddenly fell to his knees as a spine-chilling voice stabbed him in the chest. Rapidly breathing, he felt a sudden change in the atmosphere around him. He could feel the deadening heat coming from what he assumed was a blazing fire, rapidly eating away at anything it could engulf. He couldn't just feel a fire... he could smell it too. The odorous smoke wafted up this nose, slowly clogging up his lungs. It was not just the smell of smoke that got to him though. There was something else. Another vile smell. It drifted up his nose again as his brain suddenly realised what it was. Burnt flesh. Blaster fire rained though his ears as he forced himself to stand up and look around.

His eyes took in his surroundings, first focusing on several armour-clad figures firing blue bolts. He studied their armour, instantly making out the iconic orange markings that streaked them from head to toe. Clones...his men. His gaze then met a fallen trooper next to a medic trying to save his fallen brother's life. Kenobi's emotions suddenly surged between a mix of anger and sadness when he realised where he was. Utapau.

In the distance, he could vaguely make out a figure riding a Varactyl up a cliff. He immediately recognised the figure's hair and the beige battle worn robes. It was his younger self. He knew what was about to happen to him and to most of the Jedi in a few mere moments... but there was nothing he could do. The Force had sealed their fates.

"Commander Cody, the time has come. Execute Order 66."

The spine-chilling voice pulsated through his mind again, forcing him to look over his shoulder and see the figure of his nightmares. His former Commander... his most trusted soldier.... his friend. Commander Cody. Hidden underneath his helmet, with a comlink in hand, Cody stared down at the cloaked figure commanding him to sentence his General to death. Obi-Wan had no idea what was going through the Commander's mind as he heard this order and he couldn't read his mind now. "Don't do it Cody...." Muttered Obi-Wan, begging his Commander to make the right choice.

Commander Cody didn't hear him.

"Cody... no..." Obi-Wan looked at him, as tears rolled down his face. He was an emotional wreck, hopelessly trying to stop his Commander from sealing their fates. Yet, he knew he couldn't.

"It will be done my lord..."

"Cody!" Obi-Wan yelled at the top of his lungs, full of tears. He fell to the ground, feeling worthless. He felt like a complete failure. He had failed to do the one thing a Jedi was supposed to do, bring peace to the messed-up galaxy he lived in. He had failed Qui-Gon. He had failed Anakin. He'd failed Cody.

Tears blurring up his vision, he only just looked up in time to see the blast hit his younger self. He watched the Varactyl needlessly plummet to her demise as his younger self vanished out of Cody's view for good. "I'm sorry I failed you Cody...."

"Wake up Kenobi! Wake up!" yelled a fiery voice.

Kenobi's eyes slowly fluttered open to the dingey light he recognised as his hut. His vision slowly adjusted to see a certain person from his past. "Hello dear" he smiled casually.

"I'll give you "hello dear, Kenobi. You never met me in Mos Eisley... you're costing me money. " replied the owner of the voice.

"Then why are you here, Ventriss?" Asked Kenobi, slowly sitting up. He is body ached all over. What he wanted to know was why he had ended up on the floor.

"You never answered you comm, so I tracked you to this hut you somehow call a home..." replied Ventriss. "You really have gone sloppy, Kenobi. I found you on the floor, muttering things I couldn't make out."

"Then why did you leave me on the floor?" he asked, his achy body putting him in a bad mood, moaning about his joints as he stood up.

"Because you're heavy to move, Kenobi." She sighed, rolling her eyes at him. This was one of the many things she didn't miss about their various encounters. Tossing his backpack in his chest, she turned to face the door. "We're leaving now."

"One minute, my dear. I seemed to have misplaced my lightsaber...again." Sighed Kenobi, hiding the horrendous dream he had from her. He wasn't going to cause any more problems for this feisty assassin turned bounty hunter.
