Ben opened his eyes, and the bright lights made him immediately close them again. As he slowly opened his eyes once more, he saw a white ceiling and white walls. He felt someone holding his hand. He slowly turned his head and saw Rey sitting there, half asleep. Ben thought she looked beautiful, but stayed silent. A door opened behind Rey and Poe Dameron and Finn walked in. Ben pretended to be asleep as they made their way over to him. But they stopped at where Rey was sitting and Finn nudged her to wake her up. She bolted up, letting go of Ben's hand. She turned to face her two friends, and they motioned for her to walk out of the room with them. When she didn't move, Finn said: "It will only be for a few minutes Rey. If you want someone to guard him, I can call Rose."

"No, it's fine." Ray said, turning to look at Ben. As she continued to watch him, Ben guessed that she knew he wasn't asleep. Rey followed the two men out of the room and Ben waited in silence. After several minutes, he heard Rey shouting and watched her storm back into his room. As the door began to close, he noticed two people armed with guns guarding the outside of his room. They don't trust me, he thought. And he couldn't blame them. In fact, he thought they would have to be crazy to trust him. Rey being the exception of course. She sat down next to his bed and said "You can't fool me. I know that you are awake."

"I heard you yelling. Is everything okay?' Ben asked, noticing that though she was smiling, she couldn't get rid of the worry lines on her face.

"Once I report that you are fully healed, they are going to hold a trial to decide how they should punish you for what you did."

"They should. I did terrible things as Kylo Ren. It would be unfair and crazy to just forget that."

"But you've changed! You aren't Kylo Ren, you are Ben Solo!"

"There is a fine line between those two people, and just because I am Ben, doesn't mean Kylo Ren never existed." Ben took Rey's hand and sat up, so that they were face to face. He put his empty hand on her cheek and looked into her eyes. Her hand that was holding his pulled away and she started to cry silently. He took his now open hand and wiped away her tears as the two of them sat there together.

Ben followed his guards silently as they took him to his trial. It had been six days since he had woken up and Poe Dameron had decided that he was ready to be judged. He hadn't seen Rey all day. Poe and Finn, who were apparently in charge since Ben's mother died, had decided that Rey shouldn't be around Ben right before the trial. But he was sure that she wouldn't miss his trial. She wouldn't stop worrying about it.

Within a few minutes, Ben and his guards entered a clearing where many people had already gathered. At the front of the clearing stood Finn and Poe. Next to Finn stood Rey, who looked like she had recently been crying. Ben looked at her to reassure her, but she refused to meet his eyes. When it became very clear to Ben that she wasn't going to look at him, he looked forward.

Poe Dameron began talking. "Kylo Ren, you are-"

"His name is Ben Solo." Ben saw Rey mutter under her breath.

"You are here because you have committed terrible crimes against the allied forces of the rebellion and those who remained neutral in the war. Many people in this room has suffered by your hand. Our group of leaders have already gathered together to decide your fate. This is just a formality. Many of our leaders wanted you executed, but one in our group pleaded for you." Ben looked over at Rey, would still refused to meet his eyes."So instead, your punishment will be banishment. It took us a long time to figure out where you would be sent, and the planet to which you will spend the rest of your life on Tatooine. Though it is not completely deserted, there are very few people who live there, and your advocate in our group of leaders, insisted on this planet. So you will be sent there on the next ship headed that way." Poe finished. Then turning to Rey, he nodded and he left, followed by most of the crowd. Soon Rey and Ben's guards were the only ones left other than Ben himself. Rey signaled to the guards to give them some space.Then she ran into Ben's arms, looking ready to cry.

"Thank you Ray. I know it was you." Ben said, holding her. He knew that Rey wouldn't cry, she was strong. Stronger than he could ever hope to be.

"I'm going with you. I am the pilot. I have already told Finn that I plan to leave. I will only come back if they absolutely need me. And they won't now that the war is over. I plan to move into your uncle's old home. And spend the rest of my life training as a Jedi. I might even start a Jedi school later. I just want to get away. Start over." Rey looked determined, and Ben admired that.
