Ben pulled himself up onto the ledge, barely able to move. Being pushed off a cliff was neither fun nor comfortable. Pain rushed to every single inch of his body, and his was amazed that he was still alive. He looked around at all the damage Rey had caused when she defeated her grandfather, Emperor Palpatine. As his eyes searched the rubble, he saw Rey lying completely still on the ground, and all the pain in his body was instantly replaced by fear. He struggled to crawl over to her limp body, searching for any sign that she was still alive. But as he reached her and cradled her body, he was forced to face the facts, she was dead. The girl who had completely changed him, who saw light in the middle of his darkness, who reminded him who he really is. Rey had sacrificed her life to save everybody in the universe from the evil that was her grandfather.

"Rey," he called her name, knowing that she wouldn't answer. He didn't cry, he couldn't cry, that that meant that he had given up on her. There had to be something he could do to help her. Then he remembered what she did after their fight on the old Death Star ruins; Rey had used the force to heal him. He didn't even know it was possible until she had used it to save his life, but he hoped he could do it now. Weak and exhausted, he calmed his thoughts, and focused on connecting to the force. He thought of how it flowed through everything and imagined him giving her his life force. After a few seconds, he felt Rey move in his arms. He opened his eyes and saw Rey alive and looking at him. She sat up, and they just stared at each other. She touched his face and he couldn't help but smile. Soon, the two of them were kissing, oblivious of the air battle above them. As they broke apart, Ben looked into Rey's eyes, who was smiling and focused on her while he blacked out.
