Coruscant

The group continued flying through hyperspace, when suddenly Anakin left the cockpit and went down to the lower level of the ship. Padmé followed him down to the droid holding area to see Anakin sitting on a cargo container and looking at the necklace his mother gave him that he was holding in his hand.

"You miss them already, don't you?" Padmé said as she put her hand on his shoulder.

"I do. Already feels like a lifetime since I last saw them." said Anakin.

"You'll see them again. I know you will." said Padmé with a smile.

"Hey, you never told me much about your planet and people. Could you tell me now?" said Anakin as he put the necklace in his pocket, trying to get his mind off things.

"Sure." Padmé said as she pulled up a crate next to Anakin's and sat down on it.

"Alderaan is a peaceful and beautiful planet. There are two main species that live there. My people - humans - and the other race - the gungans. My people and the gungans don't get along all too well, with the exception of my family and the House of Organa getting along with a long time family friend of ours named Captain Tarpals." explained Padmé.

"Why don't humans and gungans get along on Alderaan?" asked Anakin.

"It's a ridiculous reason. In the early days of our planet, humans saw gungans as freaks and lower class citizens, all because of their race and the fact that they live underwater." said Padmé.

"The gungans live underwater? That sounds cool." said Anakin.

"It is. They have an entire underwater civilization in the deepest parts of our oceans, but the majority of my people still see them as below them, even to this day. But my family and the House of Organa always saw the gungans as equals. They've been trying for years to put an end to the feud between humans and gungans, but the leader of the gungans - Boss Nass - refuses to make peace. He and most of the gungans refuse to forgive our people for the way we treated them, with the exception of Tarpals." Padmé said.

"Who are the House of Organa, anyway?" Anakin asked.

"They're the rulers of my people. The King and Queen are long time friends of my parents, and their son - Prince Bale Organa - is one of my oldest friends. They're great and noble people. They've been like family to me. But now they've been captured by the Separatists, and I don't even know if they're still alive." Padmé said as she lowered her head.

This time, Anakin put his hand on her shoulder to comfort her.

"Don't worry. The Jedi will save them." he said with a grin.

Padmé smiled and placed her hand on Anakin's.

"Anakin-"

But then their moment was interrupted by the sound of what sounded like a malfunction coming from a nearby thing that was covered by a large cloth.

"This again?" Padmé said in annoyance.

She walked over to the thing that was making noise and removed it to reveal an astromech droid that was on the fritz.

Pretend this droid is in a standing upright position and has sparks coming off it:

"What's wrong with your droid?" Anakin asked.

"This is R4-P22, my old astromech droid. He used to be so useful, but now there's something wrong with him and I can't figure out what. He keeps randomly turning on out of nowhere and short circuiting, and it's always a pain to turn him off again. That's why I've kept him down here ever since until I can get him fixed." said Padmé as she tried to switch him off.

"Actually, maybe I can fix him. Stand back." said Anakin as he grabbed his backpack and pulled out some tools he brought from home.

"I appreciate this, Ani. I wish R4 wouldn't break down so easily. He used to belong to Bale, but he gave R4 to me as a gift when I became Alderaan's senator." said Padmé.

He went to work on the droid and soon the sparks and malfunctioning noises stopped and the droid was offline for a few moments. Then the droid whirred to life and made a happy beeping sound.

"Hey there, little fella. Looks like you're good as new." said Anakin.

The droid made a beeping noise, indicating he was asking who Anakin was.

"Me? My name's Anakin Lars. I'm a friend of Padmé here." said Anakin as he pointed to Padmé with his thumb.

R4 beeped excitedly when he saw Padmé and wheeled over to her. Padmé giggled.

"I missed you too, R4. Sorry it took you a while to get your repaired. Things are complicated on Alderaan right now." said Padmé.

R4 made a questioning beep.

"I'll explain it to you on our way up to the cockpit." said Padmé.

Anakin, Padmé, and R4 went up the cockpit to see Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan.

"Senator, I didn't know you owned a droid." said Qui-Gon.

"I do once again. Thanks to Anakin." said Padmé.

That's when the ships navigation computer beeped.

"We're nearing Coruscant. Everyone strap in." said Obi-Wan.

The ship came out of hyperspace and we see Coruscant. Anakin looked in awe at the brightly lit planet.

The ship entered the atmosphere and Anakin unstrapped from his seat and pressed his face against the glass window as he continued to look in awe at the ships and buildings.

"Welcome to Coruscant, Anakin. My homeworld.
The entire planet is one big city." said Qui-Gon.

"There's the Chancellor's shuttle." said Obi-Wan as they were about to land on a nearby landing platform where a nearby ship was with people exiting it.

They landed the ship and Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Padmé, Anakin, and R4 exited the ship. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan were also no longer wearing their ponchos and were instead wearing their traditional Jedi robes.

They approached the Chancellor and his guards.

"Senator Amidala, how wonderful to see you again. We're very glad you're alright. Are the rumors true?" asked the Chancellor.

"They are, Chancellor. Alderaan has been invaded. Nute Gunray has betrayed the Republic and is leading a group known as The Separatists. I must speak to the senate about this." said Padmé.

Palpatine sighed.

"These are troubling revelations. But I knew this was bound to happen eventually. Gunray and many other senators have never been very approving of my laws and regulations. I will prepare an emergency meeting with the senate at once." said the Chancellor before noticing Anakin.

"And who might this be?" asked the Chancellor.

"This is Anakin Lars. He's an incredibly powerful Force-sensitive individual we met on Tatooine. We're going to bring him to the Jedi Temple after this." said Qui-Gon.

"Anakin, this is Chancellor Sheev Palpatine. He's from Alderaan like I am and was senator of our planet before me." said Padmé as she introduced Anakin to the Chancellor.

"Pleasure to make your acquaintance, Anakin." said Palpatine as he and Anakin shook hands.

"It's nice to meet you too, Chancellor." said Anakin as he shook Palpatine's hand.

Anakin felt a slight uneasy feeling from Palpatine. While Palpatine sensed an incredible presence coming from Anakin.

"Now let's go to the Jedi Temple and inform them of who we encountered on Tatooine." said Qui-Gon.

"I'll see you later, Anakin." said Padmé.

"Bye, Padmé." said Anakin.

Padmé and R4 left with Palpatine and his guards, while Anakin left with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan.

The two Jedi and the one soon-to-be Jedi traveled on a speeder to the Jedi Temple. Once they arrived, Anakin looked in awe at the gigantic temple.

"So when do I begin my training?" asked Anakin.

"First we need to speak with Master Yoda and the rest of the Jedi Council and tell them about you and the Sith Lord we encountered." said Qui-Gon.

"Who's Master Yoda?" Anakin asked.

"He's my master. The one who trained me to be a Jedi and taught me in the ways of the Force. He's a wise and powerful Jedi and the Grand Master of the entire Jedi Order." said Obi-Wan.

"He also talks backwards. Just a heads up, Anakin." said Qui-Gon.

Once they entered, they were greeted by a black man with a bald head.

"Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon. We're glad to see that the two of you are alright. But it shouldn't have taken so long for you to return from Alderaan. Are the rumors of the planet being invaded true?" asked Mace.

"Indeed they are, Master Windu. But we were able to rescue the planet's senator and get her off world. The Chancellor has already been informed of the situation, but when we left Alderaan, we had to stop on Tatooine for repairs. While we were there we encountered this young man here." said Qui-Gon as he brought Anakin in front of the Jedi Master.

"And who might this be?" Mace asked.

"My name is Anakin Lars, Sir." answered Anakin.

"He's a farm boy from Tatooine. Obi-Wan and I have both sensed his incredibly powerful connection to the Force. With the council's permission, I'd like to train him to be a Jedi." said Qui-Gon.

Anakin looked at Qui-Gon in surprise, while Mace looked at Anakin with an unsure look.

"The council will decide that. But I sense there's something else you wish to tell me and the rest of the council. Something important." said Mace.

"I'd rather wait until I speak with the entire council to tell you all." asked Qui-Gon.

"Very well. I'll inform Master Yoda." said Mace Windu before leaving.

Anakin looked at Qui-Gon with an excited look.

"You want to be the one to train me?" Anakin said.

Qui-Gon smiled.

"I do, Anakin. I've never had a padawan of my own before, and I see great potential in you. I believe that it was the will of the Force that brought us together, and I believe you have the ability to become one of the best of our order." he said.

"I'd be honored!" said Anakin excitedly.

"Hang on, now. Let's first discuss the current matters with the Jedi Council before we start thinking about training for Anakin." said Obi-Wan, ruining the moment.

Suddenly, an elderly man with a white beard approached them.

"Welcome back, my apprentice." said the man.

Qui-Gon grinned when he saw the old man.

"Hello, Master." said Qui-Gon.

"Greetings, Master Dooku." said Obi-Wan.

"Who's this?" Anakin asked Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan.

"This is Count Dooku, Anakin. He's my master the man who trained me." said Qui-Gon.

"He was also Yoda's padawan before I was. A long time ago." said Obi-Wan.

"And who are you, young man?" Dooku asked Anakin.

"Anakin Lars, Sir. Qui-Gon's gonna be train me to be a Jedi!" said Anakin.

"Really?" Dooku said before turning his head to his padawan, "It's about time you took on an apprentice of your own." he told Qui-Gon.

After that, we cut to Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan entering the Jedi Council chamber where Yoda, Mace, Dooku, and several other Jedi masters were. While Anakin was waiting outside the room. Also Yoda is a puppet that looks more like the Yoda from the OT, he's not a CGI creature. Also he has no cane, either.

"Hello, Master." Obi-Wan greeted Yoda.

"Greetings, Obi-Wan." Yoda said as he sat there in his seat.

"Now that you are all here, we can tell you what happened." said Qui-Gon.

"Yes, we're well aware of the Alderaan invasion." said Ki-Adi-Mundi.

"It's not that. When we escaped Alderaan, we had to stop on the planet Tatooine for repairs. Before we left Tatooine, we were attacked by a Dathomirian Zabrak man who wielded a lightsaber. But not just any lightsaber... a red lightsaber." said Qui-Gon.

The council looked surprised at this news and they all looked at each other.

"I also sensed a large amount of Force energy and anger in him... We believe he was a Sith Lord." said Qui-Gon.

"That can't be possible. The Sith were destroyed hundreds of years ago." said Mace.

"Let ourselves believe that, we did. Mysterious and deceptive, the Dark Side is. In hiding all this time, the Sith could have been." said Yoda.

"These are troubling revelations indeed. Is it possible that this Sith Lord could be involved in the invasion of Alderaan?" Dooku asked.

"I have no doubt about it. It's too big of a coincidence that the Sith decided to come out of hiding at a time like this." Qui-Gon said.

"We will discuss this with the senate later." said Mace.

"There's also something else I wish to talk to you all about. Master Dooku and Master Windu already know about this. While we were on Tatooine, before we encountered the Sith Lord, we met a young man. His name is Anakin Lars, and we have sensed that he is incredibly strong in the Force. We've never sensed someone so powerful before." said Qui-Gon.

"He's had no training and is already strong in the Force? Do you believe he could be the Chosen One? The one who will bring balance to the Force?" Mace asked.

"I'm not sure about him being the Chosen One, but I believe that it was the will of the Force that caused our paths to cross. With your permission, I'd like to train as my padawan." said Qui-Gon.

"How old is he?" asked Shaak Ti.

"He is 15 years old. I know he is far older than the students we usually take in, but he has great potential. He's currently waiting outside the room." said Qui-Gon.

"In bring him." said Yoda.

Qui-Gon brought Anakin inside the room and he stood in the center of the room. The council looked up and down at Anakin.

"Why do you wish to become a Jedi, Anakin?" Mace asked.

"Well, it's complicated, I guess. My whole life I had been living on a moisture farm on Tatooine, but I wanted to leave more than anything and explore the galaxy. When I met Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan and was offered the chance to become a Jedi, I was hesitant to at first. But then I decided to enter a podrace so I could win money for them to use to buy the parts to fix their ship. I had never won any podraces before, but when they told me I had the power of the Force in me, I decided to try and use that power to win, and I did. I then accepted Qui-Gon's offer so I could see the galaxy and help people. Because the power I felt in me was something else entirely. If I have this power, why not use it to help others and make the galaxy a better place as a Jedi?" explained Anakin.

"Power a Jedi does not crave. The Dark Side craving power can lead one to." said Yoda.

"Ambition and attachment hang over the boy like clouds. I could sense it as soon as he entered the room." said Shaak Ti.

"Family do you have, Young Lars?" Yoda asked.

"Just my mother and older brother. I had to say goodbye to them when I left Tatooine." Anakin replied.

"Do you miss them?" Mace asked.

"Of course I do. Why wouldn't I?" Anakin said.

"Hmmm. And your father what of?" Yoda asked.

"He... passed away when I was very little. I don't have many memories of him. But the first time I ever used the Force was the day he died. From what I can remember, I started crying a lot and everything around me started floating. I passed out shortly after and when I woke up the next day, my mother and brother told me it was all just a dream. I didn't found out the truth until yesterday." said Anakin.

The council all looked at each other with an unknowing look.

"He does display promise. And although he is older than those we typically take in, it is not unheard of for someone his age to begin training. And you're forgetting, he would have Qui-Gon for a master." said Dooku.

"That does not exactly allay our concerns." said Ki-Adi-Mundi.

They brought their attention back to Anakin.

"If someone close to you were to die again, would you once again succumb to your emotions and lose control?" Windu asked him.

"I mean... I'd try to keep my powers under control better, I'm not a little kid anymore." Anakin said with a hint of annoyance in his voice, "But I don't see what's wrong with getting a little emotional sometimes."

"There is nothing wrong with being emotional. A Jedi is never lonely. They live on compassion. They live on helping people and people love them. They can love people back, but when someone they love dies, they let go. Those that cannot let go become miserable, and misery leads to a lonely place." said Mace Windu.

Anakin started to become angry.

"Are you saying it's wrong for me to miss my family?" he said.

"Wrong it is not. But too attached to them you cannot be. At such an older age especially not." said Yoda.

"So, you're saying I can't become a Jedi? I left my whole life behind to come to this place! What, I'm just supposed to go back to Tatooine and forget any of this ever happened?!" Anakin said.

"No. You can become a Jedi, but under two conditions. Number one: in order to keep your family and loved ones safe, you must change your last name as part of your induction into the Jedi Order. The students we normally take in are much younger than you, so we usually choose their new last name for them. But since you're older, we'll let you choose your new name. Just as long as it's not too similar to Lars." said Mace.

Anakin nodded.

"What's the other condition?" Anakin asked.

"Since you are too attached to your mother and brother... you can never see them again." said Mace.

Anakin's eyes widened.

"What?!" he said.

"If lose them again you were to, the Dark Side your emotions may lead you to." said Yoda.

Anakin didn't know what to say.

"I... I'm not sure..." he said.

"Then until you are ready to let go, a Jedi you cannot be." said Yoda.

Anakin stormed out of the room and Qui-Gon followed him, with Obi-Wan reluctantly following Qui-Gon.

Anakin sat on the floor in a hallway with his back leaned against a wall. His face buried into his legs.

"Anakin? Are you alright?" Qui-Gon asked.

"No." he whimpered in between quiet sobs, indicating that he was crying.

Qui-Gon crouched down on one knee next to Anakin and put his hand on the boy's shoulder.

"I understand how you feel. I was very young when I left my family and brought to the Jedi Order, but I still miss them. I never agreed with many of the Council's decisions; in fact, many in our order see me as unorthodox. But... maybe I can negotiate with them to let you see your family." said Qui-Gon.

Anakin looked at Qui-Gon.

"How? You literally just said the Jedi see you as unorthodox." Anakin said.

"That doesn't mean I haven't been able to sway their minds in the past. Let me talk to them. Maybe we can work out an agreement to let you visit your family every once in a while." said Qui-Gon.

Qui-Gon stood up and turned to Obi-Wan.

"You keep Anakin company, Obi-Wan. I'll be right back." said Qui-Gon.

"Qui-Gon, is this really wise?" Obi-Wan said.

"Trust me. It is." said Qui-Gon.

Qui-Gon headed back inside the Jedi Council room while Anakin went outside to a balcony with Obi-Wan following him.

"Are you sure you still want to do this? To become a Jedi?" Obi-Wan asked him as they both gazed out at the city with the sun starting to set.

Anakin nodded.

"I do. I want to help others, I just don't want to give up having to see my family to do that." said Anakin.

They both looked out at the city and were silent for a few moments.

"What was it like? When you left your family and brought to the Jedi Order?" Anakin asked Obi-Wan.

"To tell you the truth, I don't much remember it. I was much younger than you are now. Most Force-sensitive people we recruit are identified at half your age, some even younger. And, permitted their parents are willing, they are brought to the Jedi Temple to be raised in the order. I was very young when Master Yoda found me and brought me here." said Obi-Wan.

"So, you don't have any memories of your family? Any at all?" Anakin asked.

"I have a few vague memories, but just a few. I come from the planet of Stewjon. I had a mother and father, and... I think I had an older brother, like you." said Obi-Wan.

Anakin smiled.

"Maybe we're more alike than I thought." he said.

Obi-Wan made a slight smile.

"Maybe we are." he said.

"But you don't miss your parents and brother ever? You don't find yourself thinking about them? Where they might be? What they might think of all this? If they ever wonder about you?" Anakin asked.

Obi-Wan sighed.

"Sometimes I do, but very rarely. The Jedi are my family now." he said.

Anakin's smile faded and he looked down.

"Will the Jedi have to be my only family, too?" he said.

"Perhaps not. Hopefully, Qui-Gon will be able to negotiate with the council." Obi-Wan reassured.

We cut to inside the Jedi Council room where Qui-Gon was talking to the Jedi Council.

"We understand your sympathies with Lars, Master Qui-Gon. But the boy is too old and far too attached to his family to be a Jedi." said Mace.

"But what about under my tutorage? I'm aware you see my methods as unorthodox, but I can teach Anakin to not be too attached to his loved ones and still be allowed to see them." said Qui-Gon.

"He brings up a good point. Qui-Gon has been known to be able to have emotions for others, but still not be too attached to them. Under his training, Anakin could be a great Jedi while still allowed to see his family." said Dooku.

The council looked at each other, then nodded.

"Very well. Allowed to see his family Lars will be. But only as long as his master you are, Qui-Gon." said Yoda.

Qui-Gon smiled and bowed.

"Thank you, Masters." he said before leaving the room.

He went out to the balcony to see Anakin and Obi-Wan there. They turned to face them.

"Well?" Anakin said.

"We were able to reach an agreement. You'll still be allowed to see your family, as long as you're my padawan." said Qui-Gon.

Anakin hugged Qui-Gon and cried tears of joy.

"Thank you." Anakin said.

Qui-Gon hugged him back.

"Of course." he said.

We cut to the senate chambers where Padmé was wearing a senate outfit and explaining to Chancellor Palpatine and the rest of the senators what had happened to Alderaan.

"My fellow senators, I come before you today to plead for your help. The Republic has been betrayed and Alderaan has been invaded by a group who call themselves The Separatists. We don't know why, but for some reason they have taken our King, Queen, and the rest of our world hostage." said Padmé.

Most of the senators were shocked at this news.

"Who, exactly, is behind this supposed invasion?" asked one senator.

"We know that the one leading them is Viceroy Gunray of Caito Nemoidia. We don't know how many other worlds have pledged their loyalty to him." said Padmé.

"This is preposterous! Gunray is one of the Republic's most loyal members! And we neomoidans are mere businessmen who work in trade!" shouted the senator of Caito Neomoida.

"I assure you, I am telling the truth. I ask for the senates' help in liberating my homeworld." said Padmé.

The senate chamber erupted into argument, before Palpatine quieted them down.

"Do you have any proof of this invasion, Senator?" Palpatine asked.

"Well... no. But I know several others who can vouch for me, including two Jedi." Padmé said.

"Bah! These are mere accusations! Nothing more! Besides, the Jedi are mere sorcerers who haven't had anything important to do in hundreds of years! They would obviously back up these claims simply because they crave action!" said the nemoidian senator.

Padmé stood there in defeat. She didn't know what else to say.

"I'm afraid the Republic will not be sending any soldiers to Alderaan. This meeting is adjourned." said Palpatine.

After that, Padmé changed out of her senator dress and she and R4 went outside the building to meet with Anakin, Qui-Gon, and Obi-Wan. It was also nighttime now.

"So, how'd it go, Ani?" Padmé asked Anakin.

"I'm gonna be a Jedi and Qui-Gon's gonna train me!" said Anakin excitedly.

"Well, at least things are going well for one of us." said Padmé.

"What do you mean? What happened in the senate?" Obi-Wan asked.

"I wasn't able to convince the other senators about the invasion. Without any proof I couldn't prove to them Gunray's betrayal. And by the time the rest of the senate does realize the truth, it'll be too late and my people will be dead." Padmé explained.

Anakin hugged Padmé to comfort her, then Qui-Gon had an idea.

"Maybe there is still a way we can help your people." said Qui-Gon.

"How?" asked Padmé as she let go of Anakin.

"By doing something... off the record." said Qui-Gon.

Obi-Wan realized what Qui-Gon was talking about.

"Qui-Gon, please don't tell me what I think you're thinking." Obi-Wan said.

"What are you talking about?" Anakin asked.

"I'm been known for bending the rules every now and then. What if we were able to go behind the senates' back, sneak onto Alderaan, get the help of the gungan people, then liberate Alderaan and show proof of the Separatist invasion to the entire senate?" said Qui-Gon.

"Would that actually work?" Padmé asked.

"Do you have a better idea?" Qui-Gon asked.

"Not really, no." said Padmé as she shook her head.

"So, you're planning to do an off-the-books mission to save Alderaan? A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one." said Palpatine as he approached them.

"You're ok with this, Chancellor?" Padmé asked.

"I will do anything to make sure our beloved Alderaan and our people are safe. If it means bending the rules a bit, then so be it. I will secretly provide you with supplies and equipment to use when you return to Alderaan." said Palpatine.

Anakin smiled.

"Thanks, Chancellor. You're a good man." Anakin said.

Palpatine smiled back and he began to hatch a new sinister plan as he sensed Anakin's power more and more.

After that, it cut to Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Palpatine discussing the plan with the Jedi Council.

"Senator Amidala is right. Alderaan needs to saved, even if it means going behind the senates' backs. Unfortunately, we can't afford to send any other Jedi to help you, otherwise the rest of the senate might notice. They're already breathing down our necks. So, I'm afraid the only Jedi on this mission will be you and Obi-Wan." Mace told Qui-Gon.

"We understand." said Qui-Gon.

"I have a number of loyal workers who are securing weapons and supplies onto Senator Amidala's ship as we speak. She and the two Jedi can supply these items to the surviving humans and gungans of Alderaan." Palpatine said.

"If the Sith Lord is on Alderaan be ready you two must be." Yoda told the two Jedi.

"We will be, Master." Obi-Wan responded.

Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Palpatine then left the Jedi Council chamber.

"I'll see you three later. I mustn't keep my personal escort waiting." Palpatine told Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Qui-Gon.

"Very well. Safe travels back to your officer, Chancellor." Qui-Gon said to Palpatine.

Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and Anakin left, but then Palpatine looked up at a nearby security camera that was watching him. He could sense that no one was looking at the security feed he was on at this exact moment, so he decided to act now. He walked out of sight from the camera, only to walk back into its view right after. He made sure no one else was around, then he used the Force to remove a panel in one of the walls that was outside the Jedi Council chamber, revealing a number of wires and circuitry. He then pulled out a tiny device from his pocket that looked like one of the pieces of circuitry in the wall. He removed the piece of circuitry from the wall, then placed the identical looking device in its place, then the device powered on. Palpatine then pulled out a holographic device and it projected a hologram of inside the Jedi Council chamber where the Jedi masters continued to talk about Alderaan and its fate. Palpatine cast an evil grin, then he used the Force to place the wall panel back in place, then he walked out of sight from the camera once again, then used a control on his holo projector to have the device placed in the wall erase the footage of him tampering with the circuitry in the wall. The footage instead showed Palpatine stepping out of view from the camera, but then skipped to after he had tampered with wall circuitry. Surely no one would notice the Temple security footage skipped a minute of footage.

After that, we cut to Anakin standing in the center of what looked sort of like a Jedi-themed dojo, with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan standing nearby.

"So, when do I get my own lightsaber?" Anakin asked.

"Soon, Anakin. But first, let's see how good your Jedi reflexes are." said Qui-Gon as he approached Anakin.

Qui-Gon unhooked his lightsaber from his belt and handed it to Anakin.

"I want you to try using my lightsaber to deflect the stun blasts from this training droid." Qui-Gon said as a small, ball-shaped droid levitated near Anakin. It was the same kind of droid Luke trained with in A New Hope.

Anakin inspected the lightsaber for a few moments, then switched it on. He stared at the green blade for a few moments, then readied himself to face the droid.

The droid shot a few stun bolts at Anakin, and a few of them hit him, but he was able to deflect a few others.

"Impressive. Now let's see you try it a different way." said Qui-Gon as he handed Anakin a mask that had no eye holes.

"This time, let go of your conscious self and act on instinct." said Qui-Gon.

Anakin put on the mask.

"I can't even see out of this thing. How am I supposed to fight?" Anakin said.

"Your eyes can be deceiving sometimes. Don't trust them." said Qui-Gon.

Anakin switched the lightsaber back on and once again tried to deflect the droids shots. He still got shot a few times.

"Stretch out with your feelings, Anakin." Qui-Gon told him.

Anakin listened to his mentor, then he was able to deflect the blasts.

Anakin took the mask off.

"You know, I think I did see something a little bit. I could almost see the droid." said Anakin.

"That's very good. You've taken your first step into a larger world." said Qui-Gon, "Now come with me, Anakin. I want to show you to your room."

Qui-Gon and Anakin went to Anakin's personal quarters in the Jedi Temple. It was a decent size and had a nice view of Coruscant from the window.

"Wow. This is definitely nicer than my old room back on Tatooine." Anakin said.

"There's something else, Anakin. Something I want to give you." said Qui-Gon.

Qui-Gon pulled out something from his robe: a blue kyber crystal that glowed slightly.

"This is a kyber crystal. It's what powers a lightsaber. I've been holding onto this one for a long time until I had an apprentice I could give it to... now I'm giving it to you. Normally, a Jedi has to go to a planet called Ilum and face many trials to get their crystal. But sense you're much older than those we normally take in, the Council said they'll make an exception with you." said Qui-Gon as he handed Anakin the crystal.

"This will be for my lightsaber? Thanks. I can use this to build my lightsaber and help you and the others on Alderaan." said Anakin.

"Actually, Anakin, about that... I want you to stay here at the temple while we go to Alderaan." said Qui-Gon.

"What?!" said Anakin.

"It's a dangerous mission and you've barely had any training, Anakin. So please, stay here while we handle this." said Qui-Gon.

Anakin sighed.

"Ok." he said.

"Thank you. Now get some rest, Anakin. By the time you wake up we'll probably already be gone. Obi-Wan, Padmé, R4, and I need to head to Alderaan first thing in the morning. But we'll back once we save Alderaan." said Qui-Gon.

It cut to Palpatine in his Sith robes, talking to Darth Maul on Coruscant in the same area as in the actual Phantom Menace.

"Master, I'm sorry I failed to kill Senator Amidala on Tatooine, as well as on Alderaan. I won't fail you again." said Maul.

"It is alright, my apprentice. Soon, she and those two Jedi will return to Alderaan. She will surely not survive the battle. I want you to go back to Alderaan and be ready to kill the senator and the two Jedi." said Palpatine.

"Yes, my master. At last, we shall invoke our wrath on the Jedi. At last, we shall have revenge." said Maul.

"We shall, Darth Maul. But first, I think it's time we added a new addition to our plan." said Palpatine.

Thx for reading. Also R4-P22 is from the 2-D animated Clone Wars series. I wanted Anakin to still have a droid but it couldn't be R2-D2 because of continuity purposes.
