Benjamin woke up when he heard Roxy swearing about something in Mando'a. He got out of the bed, rubbing his eyes, and saw Roxy in a hole that contained the ships engine and what not, he knelt down. "Need any help there?" He asked, Roxy jumped and hit her head on a pipe, "Holy Kriff!" She swore and rubbed her head, she looked up at him and winced at the light coming from above, "Uh, no I almost got it, a flex-pipe split so I just have to finish tightening it down." Roxy explained. "Since when do you know how to fix a ship?" Benny asked, genuinely curious. "Well, whenever I talked back to my General back in the day, I would get 'punished' by helping out the mechanics, but Rex would just get in trouble to come hang with me so it wasn't ever a punishment." She replied with a smile and she used a wrench to tighten a few bolts.

Benjamin got up to check the GPS, "Wait!" Roxy called, he turned back and looked down, "I need help getting out..." She said awkwardly, Benny laughed, "I should leave you down there!" 

"You wouldn't dare, you Charrak!" Roxy yelled as she laughed, Benjamin held a hand down to her, and pulled her out of the pit, stumbling with her in his arms, they regained their balance and Roxy thanked him. They went to the cockpit and sat in the chairs, just a few hours until they were on Coruscant. Roxy had been thinking about this since she woke up, she hadn't been on Coruscant since...

She shuddered and rubbed her head. "How long has it been since you were on Coruscant?" Benny asked, "It's uh...been a while. almost sixteen years I think, I didn't go back after order 66 and all that, I didn't want to see what it had become," Roxy said darkly, "Is it still a shit-hole?" She asked, "It's not too bad, I've seen worse but it's still in the top 5 shittiest of holes." Benjamin tried to joke, Roxy smiled sadly and looked back into space. 

She didn't want to go there, she should have reset the coordinates for home, taken him back to the base, she had thought about it. But she eventually talked herself out of that, it wasn't her business, he was just barely her friend, but she felt connected to him, they shared a lot in common.

They had entered the atmosphere, this was it, the first time she's been here in over a decade, Roxy felt as if she might puke. Once the city was within sight, Roxy's heart dropped into her stomach at the sight, sure back in the day there were still gangs and crime and all that, but it just looked like a busy city, now...it looked more industrial, there was no homey feel to it at all. It felt cold and unwelcoming. 

She landed the ship somewhere no one would find it, and opened the door. This was it.

"Can't you just come with me? They might kill you here!" Roxy said, surprising herself. Benjamin frowned and turned to look at her, "I can't, they'll find me, they can track all their assassins, I would only be putting you...and your friends of course..in danger." he replied, "Please, you don't have to do this, you can leave this life behind like I did!" She said with hope. 

Benny sighed, he could feel tears building up, he swallowed hard, "Look, I know you left this behind, but you at least had the clones, I didn't have anyone." 

"You have me." Roxy said, tears threatening to spill. Benjamin shook his head, "I don't have you, because I have to send you away to keep you safe." he told her, Roxy looked as if she had been stabbed, Benny hated that it was him making her feel that way, "Don't you do that! I don't need to be kept safe, I was unsafe my entire life! Don't be a hero, I lost too many people that I cared about like that!" She yelled, tears falling now, why did she care this much?

"Roxy I'm sorry, but I have to go, and so do you. It's not safe for you here. I'm sure they won't kill me, just demote me and send me on shitty jobs, I'll be okay." He lied about the last part, they probably wouldn't kill him, but he would be punished or brainwashed. 

"Benjamin, please, just come with me..." She pleaded one last time, "I can't." was all he replied with. 

He locked eyes with her for a moment, her teary, dark brown, tired eyes. When he had fought with her when they first met, when they had fought together those few days ago, those eyes had been lively and fierce, now they looked broken, and it was because of him. He felt a few tears fall down his cheeks, "I'll...see you around, Roxy." he said and turned away before he changed his mind. 

"See you..." She trailed off, and watched him walk away, she was getting deja vu from all this. 

"Benjamin!" She called out, he turned to look at her, "You won't forget about me, right?" she asked, feeling desperate. She hated this. 

She swallowed, "Ratiin" he said in Mando'a, Roxy's mind translated it to- Always. She smiled sadly and he walked away, and out of her sight, she went into her ship readying to leave the planet, she looked back once more at a big building, no doubt where the Emperor was, and where Benjamin was headed, she shuddered again and went to the cockpit, drying her tears with her gloved hands.

Benjamin walked back to the senate tower, his department was on the top floor, so he took the elevator. Once the doors opened on the top floor, he was met by his boss and two other assassins, "So, where's the clone girl?" He asked, "She got away." Benny lied. 

His boss nodded and the two assassins grabbed him, and began dragging him to the torture room, just a couple doors down was where the money was kept, and past that a staircase to the roof, which had a landing pad, and all the way down was the Emperors quarters. 

They latched himself in the chair, and began using several different devices, trying to get any information out of him, they had been tracking him, and knew he was lying. He screamed out in pain as they shocked, burnt, injected, and punched him. He should have gone with her, if they weren't going to kill him outright, all the torture sure would, he should have listened to her, now he would never see her again. He had made one friend, and he was dumb enough to lose her, they had an army at the rebel base, they could fight off a few Imperial assassins, but no, he was stubborn and he would never see Roxy again. 

He would never see Roxy again.

Benjamin felt numb at the thought. Miraculously, the pain from the torture was nothing compared to the numbness forming in his heart and mind. 

He must have passed out because when he came to, the room was dark, but the emergency lights were on. Had the power been cut? Something wasn't right. He tried to move but was still cuffed and sore. 

He heard scuffling outside, and what sounded like skin connecting with skin, roughly. He heard a muffled "Where the fuck is he!?" from a couple doors down, it sounded as if a body had been thrown against the door, and Benny jumped a bit, the door opened and he winced, opening one of his eyes and seeing a woman in armor, breathing heavily, hair astray and an angry expression on her face. 

"Roxy" he croaked, her eyes softened, she ran over to him and broke the cuffs off his wrists and ankles, "what are you doing here?" asked Benjamin, "Saving your ass, and getting you out of here!" Roxy stated the obvious, "C'mon I saw the room where they track all their hired help, we can get you out of the system and off this shit ass planet." She grabbed his hand and pulled him. 

Roxy opened a door and locked it, buying them some time, "How many of them did you take out?" "I stopped counting after thirty." Roxy said bluntly, eyes scanning the computer screens, finally landing on Benjamin's name, and erasing him completely from the system, "How did you get in the system, everything is password locked!?" He asked completely surprised. "I hacked into it all, easy, now lets go!" She yelled, reaching for Benny's hand. "Wait, I gotta grab something." He walked out the door, going to the room where they kept all the credits. 

He grabbed a case full, "I deserve this, we could set your rebellion friends for months with this!" he said, and Roxy rolled her eyes, "Alright let's go, a lot of people here want us dead and I am one of the few who do not!" She grabbed Benny's hand again and ran to the elevator, but there were Emperors guard in it. They tried to grab them but Roxy, with Benjamin in tow, ran towards that door that led to the stairs. 

They ran up, and got to the roof, the guards were shooting, but Roxy was quicker, she landed a hit on one of them and killed the other, Benjamin saw three more assassins and shouted for Roxy to toss him a gun, which she did. They took cover behind some satilites, and vent shafts. The last guard grabbed Benny and had him in a choke hold, the assassins started advancing toward Roxy, who was already backing towards the edge of the broken railing. She had killed one of the assassins but her pistol jammed, "Kriff!" She yelled and felt her feet reach the edge of the building. 

Benjamin's heart began racing, he felt an adrenaline rush hit him like a crash landing. He threw the guard over his back, and shot him. He ran towards Roxy, tackling the two assassins, Roxy had slipped back, taking the case of credits with her, the case got hooked on a pipe that was sticking out of the glass and metal of the building. 

Benjamin was punching the assassin, and shot the other one, he got pushed back the assassin stepped on his left hand, he screamed and grabbed them by the ankle, knocking them back over, letting his animalistic side escape for a moment and punched him to death. He stoop and wiped the blood from his lip, he looked over and ran to Roxy, who was dangling from the edge. 

"Benjamin!" She yelled, feeling her fingers begin to slip, he was about to grab her hand when he saw the case of money, "the credits!" he said reaching for them, Roxy let out a shriek as she felt her strength give way, but she felt two strong hands on hers, she opened her eyes and saw Benjamin on his knees, one arm around a pole, holding her up with all his strength.

"I've got you, don't worry. I've got you...I've...got..you." He said slowly realizing what his words meant, he snapped out of his thoughts and pulled her up, falling backwards in the process. They laid there a moment on their backs, catching their breath. Roxy stood and helped Benny stand as well, she took a deep breath and looked around, she looked at Benjamin. They locked eyes for a moment, until they heard running, more men were coming up the stairs. Roxy pressed a button on her gauntlet, and the other guards and troopers busted down the door.

Roxy's ship came up behind them, from remote control, and the hatch opened, "Go! I'll buy us some time!" Benny yelled, "Ib'tuur jatne tuur ash'ad kyr'amur" Roxy spoke smoothly, Benny translated it, Today is a good day for someone else to die. She grabbed his hand and jumped to the hatch, taking a bullet to the shoulder in the process. 

The hatch closed and she ran to the cockpit, Benjamin catching his breath near the door, Roxy hit the thrusters and got them the hell out of there, soon entering hyperspace. She took a deep breath once she knew they were safe, she slicked back her sweaty hair to keep it from getting in her face, and walked back to where Benjamin was, he saw the would on her arm as he stood. 

"You're hurt." he stated, Roxy didn't take her eyes off him, as he grabbed the med kit and started taking the shoulder armor off her, to get to the wound, he fixed her up, but Roxy was in a trance. She hadn't risked her ass like that for anyone since Rex back in the days of the G.A.R.

She smiled softly to herself and looked at Benny who was in total disarray, he was sweaty, his hair was a mess, he had dirt and blood on his face, she couldn't even imagine what she looked like. Once Benjamin stopped fretting over her and saying how reckless she was, he looked to see her staring at him. 

He locked eyes with her a moment, only looking away to her lips for a split second. He leaned in, and she did the same, their lips brushed against each other, breath mixing, he reached and put a hand on the back of her neck and she put a hand on his cheek.

They leaned in the rest of the way, and their lips met in a soft kiss. 

They pulled away and Roxy smiled, her first kiss was with a man she claimed as her friend only a few days ago, 

"Thank you, for saving my life, several times." Benjamin said with complete honestly. 

"Thanks for saving me from falling off a building." Roxy chuckled. 

She leaned in to kiss him again. So this is what it felt like, to care for someone in this way, to have someone care about you in that same way. Not regular care like the bond she shared with Rex, this was different, more like the love of two soulmates. 

 Benjamin pulled away and looked down, "What now?" He asked, "We go home, Benny, that's what." Roxy said using her thumb to wipe away some blood from his lip. She smiled at him and they went to clean up and put on clean clothes for the journey back to the base. 

"I hate to bring it up now, but the kiss, it meant to you what it meant to me, right?" Benjamin asked, feeling unconfident, "yes, it did." Roxy replied and kissed his cheek. They weren't ready for the big L word, but they felt it. This was more than friendship.

"So this will continue?" "And how." Roxy smirked, causing Benny to blush and laugh.

They sat in the cockpit together, in just a few days time, they would return to the base, and Roxy would get to introduce her love to her brother, though they probably wouldn't tell anyone right away, just in case. "I'll take first watch, you sleep Cyar'ika." said Benny, getting used to using his Mando'a again. Roxy smiled at the pet name and allowed her tired eyes to rest, just for a while. 

For the first time in a while, she had no nightmare, she rested peacefully, with Benny sitting by her side. She was truly happy, she thought she would lose him. Luckily she had a nack for getting into trouble and saving her loved ones. 

Benjamin watched her drift off to sleep, he reached for her hand and held it in his. He had truly thought he had lost her, that numbness left as soon as he saw her enter that room, bloody and panting. He hadn't felt this happy in a very long time, "ratiin" he muttered. He stroked her cheek with his free hand and then returned to watching hyperspace, until dozing off lightly. 

These two broken souls had finally found their missing piece.
