Roxy's Heart (Part 4/?)
A couple days had passed since the events with Rivvens, and Roxy hadn't seen him around. She was starting to worry, though yes he had tried to kill her, Roxy was still a kind and empathetic person. Daviin was scheduled to come to this city today, so she had one thing to look forward to.
The only bad thing about this city was that people knew her, so she had to cover her face so as to conceal her identity, maybe that's why Rivvens hadn't tried to kill her yet, though she knew he was smarter than that.
Roxy had been cleaning her ship when she heard a speeder bike, she turned to see Daviin approaching her. "Hey!" He greeted, "Hi, how was the trip?" She asked, "It was alright, what happened with that assassin?"
"Well, I saved his ass and we had a nice long chat, actually." stated Roxy with a matter-of-fact tone. Davvin scoffed, "You know he's not going to give up, right? He's gonna try and kill you again.." he told her, "I know," She replied, "But I think deep down he's an alright guy, he just went through some bad shit like I did."
"Maybe he'll take my advice.." Roxy thought to herself.
And he had.
Rivvens had scoured through files and data that very night she saved him. There was so much he hadn't known, like she ran into a burning building to save people, had her aging slowed just so she could keep fighting, he even 'got access' to some old reports she had written, and ones Rex had written out as well. He didn't sleep that night, he just kept reading, he was infatuated.
He rad the report Rex did when he had found her on that shit-hole planet. "Potential suspect found in disheveled home-stead, suspect was a young woman, aged 13 years or so, she was holding a blaster to her temple and I managed to save her." He read about how Rex took her under his wing, how she fought, the fact that she was the youngest sergeant, that she tried to save an innocent clone from being killed.
Rivvens found himself reading until noon the next day, there was so much there he hadn't known, or wasn't allowed to know. The more information, the more guilty he felt. He had been assigned to this because he was one of the best, and because he felt the need to prove himself, not only to the empire but to others.
And here he was, feeling the hesitation about this assignment again. Now that he knew that she wasn't a traitor or deserter, he didn't know if he could do this, but he had to, and that was his dilemma. Kill her, or be killed. Was he really willing to let her go, and die? But if he didn't do it, then one of the others would. He had to figure this out, and fast.
Roxy and Daviin were walking around the center of town together, browsing wares, and Roxy had the feeling of being watched, she had a knowing smile on her face and looked to the rooftops, only to see nothing. She didn't understand why she felt let down by that.
She turned to look at Daviin, he was the one that was staring. "Roxy, I've really enjoyed these few days of knowing you, I feel like I've learned so much about you, and you're just truly amazing." He said. Roxy smiled, "Well, thank you. I wouldn't say I'm amazing, but-" "No, you are. And I really want you to come with me, travel that galaxy and it can be the two of us!" He suggested with a hopeful smile.
Roxy felt a pang in her heart, "Daviin, I don't know..." She trailed off, "Just think about it, please?" he pleaded. Roxy nodded and they continued talking and walking back towards the ship. But unknown to Roxy, Rivvens had been watching from the rooftops. His blue eyes trained on her and only her.
Once Roxy and Daviin reached her ship, he asked again, "Will you come with me?" "I can't, I'm sorry Daviin but I don't wanna leave here just yet and I think that I wanna be alone right now, explore the galaxy solo."
"Does this have anything to do with that assassin? I knew he was gonna get in the way...no matter, you're coming with me anyways, and I guess it'll have to be the hard way." He said as he stuck a syringe into her neck. "You son of a bitch.." Roxy slurred as she passed out. Davvin grabbed her unconscious form and tied her up to a chair in her ship. Funny, she had done the same to Rivvens only a couple days ago.
He started the engines and took off into space as quick as possible.
Rivvens had seen a ship leaving, he was so screwed, she had left, and he was going to be killed. For some reason though, he felt a sadness blooming in his chest. It was dumb, but he had wanted to say goodbye at least, it's not like he would have had the guts to kill her now anyways.
When Roxy awoke, she was tied and gagged in her own ship, which was en-route to God knows where. She opened her eyes and allowed them to adjust, once they did, she laid them on a figure sitting across from her. Daviin.
He was smiling sickly, Roxy tried to yell at him, but it all came out muffled by the gag. "Oh, silly me, here." He said as he took the gag out. "You shabuir! I'm going to kill you when I get out of here!" She yelled, "Well here's the thing Rox, you aren't getting out of here. I'm taking you in for a pretty penny seeing as that assassin didn't have the guts to do it, and you're going to be sold and traded and whatever else they want." He informed her.
Roxy spit in his face, "You mother-kriffer! You pretended to be my friend just to get to me?! You were too much of a hut'uun to just outright kill me!" She screamed. "Stop yelling at me in Mando'a you bitch!" He yelled and smacked her across the face. Her face turned with the force of the blow, she turned back to him with wild eyes, and struggled against the chair and restraints.
"I'm going to fucking kill you." She said slowly as she locked her deep eyes with his sickly green ones. "I never should have trusted you, I never should have trusted anyone on that God-forsaken planet!" she said as she continued to move against her shackles.
"I would have thought you to be smarter than that, but you're just as dumb as the rest. I've captured other clones you know? Sold them, killed them..." He trailed off and Roxy scowled at him.
"Who are you really, then?" She asked, "Remember that bar of thugs you found the assassin at? Yeah, you see, the reason I wouldn't help you was because I'm their leader, that one guy you let get away came and informed me and I sent the rest of them after you. I can't believe you didn't see that coming really, but acting always was my second passion.." said Daviin as he got up to go back to the cockpit.
Roxy stared at the floor, how could she be so dumb? She should never trust anyone who isn't her family back home, she never should have left in the first place, she was so dumb to go on this little journey alone. She missed home, she missed the weather there, and she missed her friends, mostly she missed her brothers and Ahsoka. She felt a tear escape, she would never see them again, that pain she felt when she believe her brothers to be dead, she would put Rex through that.
A few hours later, and they landed. "Where are we?" Roxy questioned, "Trandosha. I've got a client here who will pay a good price for you." He said and smirked, he untied her from the chair, and Roxy took the chance, she kneed him in the stomach and punched him, only to be shocked and pushed back, Daviin punched her, leaving her with an already blackening eye. "Are you gonna try that shit again!?" He shouted, putting a chain on her shackles so he could tug her along.
He pulled her to the gates of a place that looked like a palace, a few guards let them in, and Roxy was disgusted with what she saw, it was a Trandoshan slave palace, she had seen something like this back on kadavo in the Clone wars, when they were trying to save the Togrutans.
She adverted her eyes, she was already enraged. He took her to a mansion type place, and as they walked she saw so many people with shackles and chains, a staircase that no doubt led to a dungeon or holding cells. She saw a Trandoshan sitting on a throne surrounded by young Twi'lek women, serving him hand and foot. Roxy felt as if she were going to be sick.
They came to an abrupt stop, Daviin tugging on her chains, "Here she is, the one and only Roxy Jaxlyn. Now, as for my pay?" He asked, "Yes yes, the credits are in the case, you bring it!" He shouted at one of the women, and she brought over a case, Daviin opened it, and looked over it all. There had to be at least 500,000 credits in there.
"She's damaged." hissed the Trandoshan, "Well, she was a bit of trouble. I didn't let her get out of line, but I will say, she'll be a hard one to break, she was in the G.A.R..." He trailed off, pulling her closer to him, "Aren't you gonna say goodbye, sweetheart?" He asked, Roxy kicked him.
"Kriff off." she spat, Daviin just laughed and pushed her to her knees and left. Roxy looked up when a scaly hand tried to touch her face, she moved away, "You'll do just fine..." hiss the slaver, "Take her to the dungeons, now! I want her broken by the time the auction roles around tomorrow!" He ordered and another Trandoshan took her down those same stairs she saw upon entering.
He chained her to a wall, which she was facing, and he took an electric whip, just like the ones on Kadavo, and he whipped her, she screamed out in pain, it hurt just as much as she remembered, if not worse. He kept doing it until the profanities stopped spewing from her mouth and her shoulders slumped, he unchained her and took her to a cell, which she shared with two other Twi'leks.
Roxy hadn't felt this broken, she thought she would have lasted, been able to find a way out, but no one knew where she was, she had no one to save her, no Rex, no Ahsoka, none of her brothers or the Jedi, she was alone.
Roxy sat slumped up against the wall, sore and tired, she just wished she were sleeping in her warm bed back home. The auction would start soon, she needed to try and put together a plan, but how could she? She had no weapons, no help, well no one that would be willing to help, and if she tried anything, she'd be killed.
Roxy felt her eyes fluttering, but one of the Twi'lek spoke up, "Where are you from?" She asked, holding what Roxy assumed was her young son, "uh, well, I'm not really from anywhere, I was born one place and moved around a lot." She replied, the woman nodded, "You seem tired, if you'd like to rest, I can wake you when the guards come around." She suggested, Roxy smiled the slightest bit, "Thank you." she said honestly.
Roxy allowed herself to drift off to sleep for just a little while.
She felt someone nudge her foot, she opened her eyes quickly and looked around, and saw a guard approaching their cell. She sat up straight, the guard threw some garments at her and the Twi'leks, "Change. Now! You're up in five." He ordered them. They got changed, Roxy shed her garments and put on the raggedy ones she was given. She winced when she touched her face, her eyes was undoubtedly swollen and purple.
The guard came back and chained her and the two twi'leks, plus a few others in a line and pushed them along. Roxy wasn't going to lie, not even to herself, she was scared, she was going to be killed or worse. She saw how many people there were, heard the cheering and bidding, smelled the fear, alcohol and blood. She was disgusted. She was on the stairs of the steps and she looked out at the rowdy crowd of pigs, as her tired eyes scanned the crowd, she thought she saw Rivvens, but when she blinked he was gone. Why would he be here? He wasn't like these people, sure he was an assassin and has killed people, but so had she, he was better than any of these scum.
She was next, Roxy felt her knees trembling, she was frozen, this couldn't be happening. She never got to say goodbye, never got to explore the galaxy, never got to help Rivvens. She braced herself, this was it.
She walked up, and the bidding was about to begin when suddenly the auctioneer was shot in the head, Roxy looked out, and saw Rivvens on top of a ship, with a sniper. She smiled for the for time in a while, he began running towards her, shooting guards left and right, giving slaves their guns so they could free themselves. Once he reached her, he broke her shackles and all the other's as well. "What are you doing here?" She asked, "Saving you, an eye for an eye. Now we're even!" He said and grabbed her hand and began running towards her ship. They were stopped when Rivvens took a bullet to the arm, Roxy turned to see Daviin.
"You son of a bitch!" She yelled and ran at him, knocking him down, punching him left and right, he pushed her off of him, and aimed his pistol at her, Rivvens knocked him down, "Didn't your mama ever tell you it was wrong to hit a lady?" He asked, and shot him.
He extended his hand to Roxy, "Let's go." He said and led her to the ship, Roxy looked back and saw the people who had been captured were rising up and killing all those scum.
Rivvens started the ship and got out of there as quick a possible.
Once they were in hyperspace, he put it on autopilot and looked at Roxy who was changing into armor. She looked up at him, "I suppose I should thank you." said Roxy as she walked towards him, fastening the gauntlet on her left forearm. "No need, you saved me, and I was just doing what was right. And you were right, I checked my facts and I can't kill you, I'll say it right now, I can't. Sure I might get killed for it, but I know right from wrong." He explained, Roxy smiled.
She did something that surprised the both of them, and hugged him. "Thank you. If it weren't for you, I would have been sold, raped, killed, whatever. I was so scared." She admitted.
He hugged her back, "Hey, it's okay..." He said and rubbed her back. "Wait...how did you find me?" She asked, pulling away, "I, uh, put another tracking device on your ship..." He said and rubbed the back of his neck. Roxy laughed, it was like music.
"You son of a bitch" She said jokingly. "You're a good person Rivvens-" "Benjamin...my name is Benjamin." He cut her off, she smiled and so did he, "Huh, Benjamin.." She tested it out, "I like it...Benny." She joked, he laughed and Roxy loved that sound. "Whatever, just don't call me assassin man or Rivvens." He replied and sat down in the copilot seat.
"So what now?" Roxy asked, sitting in her seat. "I go back to Coruscant, explain everything, while you get as far away as possible, maybe I'll have a chance if I suck up enough." he replied. "What? No! They will kill you!" Roxy said, "Look, you know the GAR, I know the Empire. But for now let's just worry about getting there" He said.
Roxy locked eyes with him, "Alright.." "You should get some rest, we can take shifts, we're gonna be on this ship for a while, days maybe. So get some rest." said Benny. Roxy nodded, and patted his shoulder as she walked over to her bed, and laid down. "Night." "Night, Benny."
