Life Story (part 7/7)
*Years had past, the empire has taken complete control*
"Ezra, I'm sending you and the crew to Jabiim, it's a rainy planet near the outer rim. I need you to find someone, someone who can help us win this war." Said the grown Togrutan woman. "What's their name?" Asked the young padawan, "I can't tell you, just...when you do find them, give them this note." She handed him a sheet of paper with the numbers '7675' and the words 'Bad Company'. "Another clone?" He asked, the Togruta nodded. "Don't tell them about me or Rex though, understand?" She asked, He nodded. The rebel crew departed for the rainy, muddy planet of Jabiim.
Roxy aged, not so much on the outside, but more on the inside. She felt way older then she looked, she looked twenty-three but felt a couple hundred years old. Her appearance hardly changed, her hair was still dark brown with blue tips, but grey was starting to sprout here and there. Her build was the same, muscular but feminine. The only thing that changed on her face was that she looked tired all the time, her eyes were a darker shade than usual, and she had a double scar on her cheek, going all the way to underneath her ear.
She awoke in her single bed of her dusty, small home. She got dressed in her work clothes, and chugged a 'captain's coffee', which was caf with corrilian whiskey. She looked in the broken mirror, and sighed. "Where the hell did I go so down hill?" She asked herself, and looked to her scars, old and new. She covered her arms and left her home, and headed to the restaurant she's worked at for the past two years. She was on the run for the first year after Order 66, being a 'traitor' and all. She finally settled down, as best she could, and bought a small house on the outskirts of a small town, this place wasn't anything like where she grew up, or even Coruscant. It was rainy though, and she liked that, it rained almost every day.
She walked past the gun shop, and looked at the window display. It showed an 'Imperial grade' weapon, "Garbage" She muttered to herself. She heard a ship land, but ignored it. She reached 'Rayya's Cafe' and walked in, shook the rain off her coat, and went behind the counter of the small, but cozy cafe. She sighed, and took the orders of the hungry customers, faking a smile when they said something funny. She hadn't made any friends while she was here, she didn't want to have to get close to anyone ever again, she disconnected herself from everything else, rarely talked to anyone, kept to herself, and always kept an eye out for trouble. Though she was slightly out of shape, she could still kick anyone's ass around here. She already proved that, twice.
She noticed four people walk in, one a Lasaat, an older man, a younger boy, and a teenage girl. She eyed them suspiciously for a moment, they looked around. They spotted a man, who kind of looked like a clone, and walked to him, the man sent them away. Roxy took note of how they asked every person in the Cafe a question, but got sent away. She also noticed the piece of paper. The young boy took out a comm, all Roxy heard was "They're not what you would expect. Don't underestimate them. They're stubborn." Roxy watched as the man looked at her, he approached, Roxy put her hand on the blaster that she kept in the holster on her right leg.
The man waved the others over, "Three dark caf, and a water please." He ordered. Roxy grabbed the drinks and handed them out, "Thank you." The man said, Roxy nodded and turned around, the boy noticed a tattoo that read 501st, behind her left ear. He nudged the older man, and he said "Excuse me, miss?" Roxy turned around, and saw the piece of paper, it read '7675 Bad Company'. She took a step back, and her eyes widened. "Where did you get that?" She asked, "We got it from a friend." The man said, "You were in the Clone Wars, weren't you?" He asked, "I...How do you know this? I won't answer your questions until you answer mine!" She yelled, "My name is Kanan, this is Zeb, Sabine, and Ezra. We're rebels, we were sent by an old friend of yours." He explained, "My friends are all dead." Roxy replied somberly.
"Please, we just need to know you name, and if you're really who we're looking for." said Ezra. Roxy sighed, and ran a hand down her face. "Fine. Follow me." She said and led them back to her small house. "Alright, what do you wanna know?" She asked, clearly annoyed. "You were in the Clone Wars?" Asked Kanan, "Yes, My name is Roxy, Sargent Roxy of the 501st battalion. That number on the paper is my 'birth number' although it's more of a record number because I wasn't made, I'm a genetically engineered human. A great man found me and raised me as a clone." She answered every question without them even asking, "You're who we're looking for! Someone sent us, we need you to join us, become a rebel and defeat the Empire!" Ezra yelled out.
"No. That's not gonna happen." She said quickly, "What? Why not!?" He asked, "Kid, I walked away from the war years ago, Iv'e endured enough suffering! I'm not going to join your little lost cause, alright? I'm done fighting." She yelled. "So you're just gonna sit around and let the Empire take over and destroy everything, you won;t do anything?" Ezra asked, trying to piss her off. "I spent my entire life fighting and killing! My fucking parents abandoned me, I had to kill people for a living! I've lost more brothers then I can count, and I lost my family along the way of the war. I've nearly fucking killed myself...twice! So don't say I'm not going to do nothing. I've done my part, I'm done, I want no part in your shit, understand!?" She yelled, Ezra backed off. "See these?" She asked while pulled her sleeves up, "I did this to myself because I was too weak, I couldn't take care of myself. But when Re-" She stopped herself.
"But when I was found, and taken to the bets family I could ask for I stopped. because I was loved. That war took my family away, that war that was started because of the Chancellor TOOK THEM AWAY FROM ME!" She broke. She'd held all this is for years, and she was finally letting it all out. "I'm sorry." Ezra said, "We should leave." Kanan said, "Sorry we wasted your time." He said, Roxy sighed, and looked around her room. "If you change your mind, we're staying in the ship until it's recharged." Ezra said, looking at her with a sad expression. She sat on the floor, and looked at her arms, her tattoos. "I've done enough...haven't I? I fought my whole life, I don't need to fight anymore, plus the rebels will never win. Evil always finds a way to keep coming back.." She said to no one but herself.
Roxy put on her old clone armor and helmet, grabbed her duel DC-17 blaster pistols, and the picture of her and the guys and Ahsoka, and walked out the door. "I'm a fucking idiot. Why am I even doing this? I did enough, and I'm going right back to my past, I promised to stay away from it, but noooo, I'm a fucking moron and I have to go and join their cause." She argued with herself as she approached the ship. Ezra saw her, "he-" "Not a fucking word." She said and walked past him and up to Kanan, "I'll join you idiots, but it's gonna cost." She told him, Kanan nodded and got into the pilots seat, and flew back to the Ghost.
Roxy boarded the large ship, and followed Ezra to what would be her room. He then led her to the main room, where she saw the backs of an older, bald, man. And a Togruta. They turned around, Roxy approached slowly and carefully. "R-Rex? Ahsoka?" She asked, tears building up in her eyes, Roxy lunged herself at them and hugged them. "You're alive! I thought you were dead, you're really alive.....you're alive.." She got angrier as she said it. She stepped back, "You were alive this whole fucking time!?" She asked while she slapped Rex. "I sat at that grave with your names for hours, crying, because I thought my family was really gone! How could you fucking do that to me!? I held my blaster to my head....hoping..praying that you'd come save me again.." She cried as she locked eyes with Rex.
"I'm sorry kid, we had to escape, and we went off the grid, and I didn't wanna put you in danger." Rex explained. "I don't care about being in danger, I thought I really lost you guys..." She said, Rex hugged her again, "I'm sorry." He said with honesty in his voice. Roxy hugged him abck as tight as she could. After their reunion, they decided to catch up. The clones and the gray Jedi sat down together, and talked. "So Wolfe and Greggor are still alive?" "Yup! Rex replied, "What did you do...all these years?" Rex asked, "I didn't go back to bounty hunting if that's what you mean. I worked in a Cafe." She told him, "I wouldn't go back to that. I couldn't." She said. Rex nodded, "I really missed you, Kid." said Rex, "You barely aged, you just look tired, and you have a scar...and are those...grey hairs!?" He asked while laughing, "You should talk mister beer belly, grey beard baldy!" She mocked and laughed.
"I missed this. Drinking with friends, talking, laughing. I haven't done this since the good ole days." Roxy said, Rex nodded, "Same here." "I'm glad I went with those rebels, I really needed to see you guys again, to know you weren't dead." said Roxy, she hugged Rex.
Roxy stayed with the rebels for a while, she soon found more friends in another group of rebels named Bella and Jasper. "I have a family again." is what replayed in her head quite often. She really did have her family back again. She was happy again.
