Life Story: Part 2/3?

Roxy awoke at 5AM sharp, along with the rest of the clones for training. She dressed in her cadet armor, and headed to the gym. Rex greeted her with a smile, "Mornin' Roxy." He said with a nod, Roxy saluted, and said "Good Morning, Captain!" with a smile. "No formalities kid, you know that." Rex told her, "I know" She shrugged and took up a blaster and headed to the shooting range.

Roxy was 14 now, a month had passed since everything happened, Anakin still wasn't thrilled about having a kid in the 501st. But to be fair, the clones may look older, but their kids in men's bodies. Roxy had the best aim of all the cadets, no one asked why. She still hadn't told Rex about what she did when she was living alone. She was worried he might reject her, but she knew she'd have to tell him sooner or later.

"Nice shootin' kid!" Fives called from the other side of the room, where he was wrestling Echo. "Thanks" She called back, and continued shooting. After blaster training was finished, a few other cadets approached her, "Say, where did you learn to shoot so good?" one of them asked, "Uh, nowhere. Just lucky I guess.." She lied, "C'mon, just tell us so maybe we can get better? Did one of the Captains or Commanders teach you?" He asked, "No. I just learned by myself." She lied again, feeling uncomfortable.

Rex noticed Roxy rubbing her arms and twitching a bit, he knew she was uncomfortable, he walked over. "Hey, back to work you lot." he said. Roxy started walking away as well to do the rest of her training, Rex grabbed her wrist and pulled her to him. "What's up kid?" He asked, "Nothing.." Roxy lied and looked away. "I can tell you're lying, is there something you need to tell me?" Rex asked, Roxy sighed, "Can I tell you about it later?" She asked, getting annoyed.

Rex noticed the unusual behavior and decided to let it go, and when she was ready she'd tell him what was wrong. She then went to wrestle with the other cadets. The reason the other cadets were with the 501st was for training with real troopers, Obi-wan thought it would be a good way for Roxy to meet kids her age, for as long as they'd be kids. Obi-wan was like the awesome Uncle Roxy had never had. But she didn't want friends her age, she was already friends with most of the 501st, they liked her attitude and sass towards Anakin, they thought it was amusing, Anakin didn't though.

After training was done for the day, the cadets left back to Kamino, and Roxy followed Rex and the rest of the guys to the mess hall. They got their late lunch and went to their usual table, which Fives, Echo, Kix, Hardcase, and Rex always sat at, with Roxy of course. One bite into his lunch, Anakin commed Rex, "Captain Rex here." He answered, "Rex, I've got some bounty hunter locked up, he says he's looking for someone? Bring Roxy, maybe she'll gain some experience." He ordered, "Yes sir." Rex said and hung up, "Let's go kid." He said and motioned her to follow.

She stuffed her face quickly and ran after Rex. "So, what were you gonna tell me earlier?" Rex asked as they walked to the jails. "Uh, I'll tell you later, after the days done, ok?" She asked hopefully. Rex nodded and ruffled her hair and she put on her helmet, which she decorated.

They arrived at the jails. and saw Anakin standing in front of a cell, "Good, you're here. This guy says he's looking for one of his employees, says she's been missing for a month now, and he blames us for some reason." He informed them, and they walked in. Rex put his helmet on before walking into the cell.

Roxy stopped in her tracks at who she saw, it was Tritch, her bounty employer. She mentally cursed at herself and her heart began to race. She stood close to Rex, and watched as Anakin asked questions as to why this 'scum' blamed the republic for his missing employee. "I blame you because I saw you sacking houses and you went into hers." He spat. Anakin sighed, "What was her appearance?" Rex asked, "She was just a teenager, maybe like 13? Long brown hair, tan skin, cuts and bruises on her arms. She was one of my best hunters, really brought in the coin." He said, Rex looked down at Roxy, She avoided looking at him.

Anakin knew the description of this girl matched Roxy's, but he didn't say anything. "What was her name?" Anakin asked, "She never told me her real name, only her fake one...Mitch was what she went by." He said, Anakin nodded and they left, and Tritch stayed in prison, for running a bounty hunting operation.

Anakin pulled Rex to the side, and whispered to him, "Talk to Roxy, that description of 'Mitch' matched hers perfectly." Rex nodded and looked at Roxy who was staring at her feet and then looked up at him. Rex and Roxy walked back to the Barracks in silence. He took her to his room, and Roxy knew something was wrong. "Rex...are you mad at me?" She asked, holding back tears as she looked at her feet. "What? No. Why would I be mad at you?" He asked, Roxy sniffled and shrugged. Rex knew she was crying, "You don't always have to be strong, you have to let your guard down at some point." He said, and removed her helmet.

He wiped away her tears and she locked eyes with him, "But you never let your guard down, you're always strong, I wanna be just like you. I don't wanna be a little sissy and cry about something stupid. I don't wanna let you down." She said and wiped away her own tears. "Kid, I'm not as strong as I look, there's times I wanna break down, but I can't. Not in front of my men, because if I cave, they'll cave too." He explained to her. She nodded.

"Now, about that Tritch guy, why did his description match you?" asked Rex, Roxy took a deep breath and sat down on the bed next to Rex, "After my parents abbandoned me, I needed work and I couldn't work anywhere else and I had to keep a roof over my head and be able to eat. So...I took a job as a bounty hunter, when I was ten. And I kept that job for three years, until one day I caved after killing some woman with a kid. That was the day you came into my life, and stopped me from pulling that trigger." She said and let it all out.

Rex remained silent. "I-...I killed people, Rex! I'm a monster..." She said, and let out a shaky breath and the tears began to fall. "Now Anakin is gonna find out and lock me away, and I'll never get to see you again. I'm sorry Rex.." She cried. "Why are you sorry?" He asked quietly, but shocked, "I'm sorry I'm such a horrible person." She said, "Roxy, You are not a monster and you're not a horrible person!" He told her, "You don't hate me?" Roxy asked, scared to hear the answer. "Roxy, You're like the little sister I've never had, I could never hate you. And I won't let Anakin lock you away, I promise." He said, and pulled her into a hug.

Roxy cried into his shoulder. Anakin walked into the Barracks, searching for Rex and Roxy, he heard crying coming from Rex's room, he knocked, and Rex answered. Anakin motioned for Rex to talk with him in the hall, Roxy was horrified. Horrified that Rex wouldn't be able to convince Anakin that it wasn't her, that Anakin would take her away. She sighed, and awaited her fate.

"So, what did she say?" Anakin asked, Rex sighed, knowing he couldn't lie to a Jedi, and he told him, everything. "She told me her parents abandoned her. I'm guessing she was abused. Sir, we can't send her away, she needs a family, and me and the men are that family. I know you don't like it all that much but, I'm not just going to up and leave her like her parents." Rex explained, Anakin nodded, "Alright, I won't charge her for anything or send her away, but if it turns out she's been a spy all this time, she's out of here, understand?" He asked, Rex nodded, and walked back into his room.

"Is he gonna take me away from you?" Roxy asked, "No, he's not gonna take you away from me. I told you I'd work it out." Rex said with a smile and sat next to her on the bed, "So, why the name Mitch?" He asked, "He was a friend, I ate at his Diner every single day, and the day my parents left, I went to the bar they usually spent their time at, and some guy tried to grab me, so Mitch started a fight with him. I went to the Diner the next day and he was dead. I figured I had to honor him somehow." She explained. Rex nodded, "I understand that." He said, and hugged her. He sent her to her room to get some rest, "G'night kid." Rex said, "Night Rex.." She replied and went to her room.

*Time skip to 4 years later*

Roxy awoke, at 5AM sharp, but this day had no training, today was much more important, today was the day she became a real member of the 501st battalion, and got to serve under Rex and Anakin as a Private or 'Shiny' and Rex called her. She put on her new armor, seeing as she had grown a lot. She put on her new helmet, which she had yet to decorate with battle marks and paint.

She walked into the common room and saw Rex waiting for her, they walked to the ceremony together and she readied herself. There was a small stage with a podium for the Chancellor and General Skywalker to give their speeches. She waited in the crown of other cadets and awaited her name to be called, when it was she stepped onto the stage, and got her metal and rank. She walked off the stage and stood in attention with all the other Shiny's as the Chancellor, Anakin and Rex walked in between them, Rex smiled at Roxy as he walked by, Roxy had never felt more proud of herself in her entire life, aside from that time she hit Jesse with a pie right in the bullseye of his tattoo.

After the ceremony, Roxy was in the mess hall with Rex and everyone else celebrating, "Congratulations Shiny Roxy, I'm proud to have you in my Legion." He said, and punched her arm playfully, Roxy returned the gesture and replied "I'm honored to be in your Legion Captain.".

They had a small party, and went to sleep, Roxy had a big day tomorrow. Her first real mission. When she woke the next day, she put on her armor and went to find Rex, he was with the rest of the squad, waiting outside the Barracks and when she joined them, they went to the docking bay and walked into their gunships. "Okay everyone, we're going to a sepratist gathering, all the members of the high council of the sepratists will be there, so we have to be careful, but if we can find out what their planning, we'll be one step ahead of them." Anakin explained.

"Nervous?"  Rex asked Roxy, "Not even a little." She replied honestly. They arrived on a desert looking planet, Roxy didn't know where exactly they were, but she followed Rex and did her job. "Okay, we're gonna need a few men on the inside, Rex, you take whichever men you want, their expecting us, but not for us to be stealing secret plans, they think we're here to negotiate. So be discreet!" Anakin ordered them.

Rex took Roxy, Fives, Echo, Kix, Jesse and Hardcase. When they arrived at the gates of the building that looked like a palace, the clones were asked to remove their helmets, Anakin nodded, and told them to do so. When Roxy removed hers, the guard at the gate gasped and yelled "Imposter!" And tried to reach out at her, Rex stepped in from of the guard, "She's with us." He growled, "No women allowed!" The guard sneered, "Maybe you didn't hear me, but I said she's with us! This trooper is our sister, and we won't negotiate shit with you unless she comes with us, because we won't leave her!" Rex shouted, the guard back down and allowed them to go in.

Roxy smiled at Rex and thanked him. They kept an eye out for suspicious activity, but the night ended up with Anakin getting them into trouble, as usual, and they had to explode and few things, shoot a few guards, and get out of there as fast as they could. When they arrived home, Anakin congratulated Roxy of a 'successful' first mission. When they got back to the Barracks, Hardcase said Roxy deserved a party, so most of them got a bit drunk playing poker, and ended up passing out.

Roxy didn't drink much, so she was sat on the couch with Rex passed out beside her, "This life may not be glamorous, and there is a chance I could die, but at least I'll die beside people that I care about, and care about me." She thought to herself, She smiled at her brothers, and thought about what Rex had said, about how they would never leave her, and how she's their sister. She smiled at the thought, and knew that she had a real family, a family she could trust, a family she could let her guard down around, a family that would always have her back. She had a real family.
