Life Story: Part 1/3
"You really wanna hear the story of my shit life? Alright fine. It all started a long time ago, on a planet far far away."....***10 years ago on Delrakkin***
She woke up to the sound of her parents screaming, again. They had been fighting and taking their anger out on Roxy, as usual. The ten year old girl turned to look at her clock, it was 1:00AM. She sighed, and flinched as she heard the heavy footsteps come up the stairs.
"Pretend to sleep, pretend to sleep." She told herself. Her mother swung the door open, and grabbed Roxy by the wrist, "Mom! Let me go!" She screamed. Her mother threw her to the ground, she was drunk, again. Her mother kicked her, and beat her. Roxy cried out in pain with every slap, punch, and scratch.
Her mother stormed out of the room after calling Roxy things like; Useless, pathetic, and so on. Roxy sat against the wall, and cried as she examined her new scars and bruises. "What did i ever do?" She whispered to herself, and sobbed. She silently crawled back to her bed and tried to sleep. But she was too afraid that she would be pulled out of the safety of sleep, and be beaten again.
She rarely slept more then five hours, she was thin, and weak. When the sun arose, she stole a few credits from her mother's purse, and quietly snuck out of the house. She wore a jacket and hood to hide the bruises from the locals. When it began to rain, she looked up at the sky and took a deep breath. She watched as the rain fell on her face, and washed away the dirt from the streets. She walked a few more blocks in the rain until she reached the diner, she ate there everyday.
Mitch, the owner, was a good man. Honest, hard working, and not a scum-bag. "Mornin' Roxy. The usual?" He asked. "Yeah, but put cream in the coffee this time." She replied. "Alright, little lady." He said with a smile. His smile dropped when he saw the red marks on her face, "Hey, you okay kid?" He asked, "Honestly...no. I feel like i wanna frikkin' die." She told him. "Don't put up with your parents doin' this shit to ya, kid. Turn 'em into the guards"Mitch told her. "Wish i could, but they never believe me. They think i hurt myself to get attention." Roxy stated.
"Well, i'll help ya figure something out, but for right now, i'm gonna cook you an omelet!" Said Mitch. He went back into the kitchen and began cooking. Valerie, the waitress, got Roxy her coffee. "It'll get better, Rox." Valerie said, and side hugged Roxy. "Thanks, Val." Roxy said with a small smile. AfterMitch had cooked her omelet, Roxy ate quickly, paid him, and hurried back home. She crawled back into her room through the window.
She waited a few hours, and went out into the living room. Her parents weren't there. She didn't dare call out for them. She went into the kitchen, empty. Her parents bedroom, empty. The bathroom, empty. She looked outside, they weren't anywhere to be found. She checked the bedroom again and saw things scattered about, like it was ransacked. She found only clothes and material objects missing. "Their...gone?" She asked herself.
She ran outside. "Mom!? Dad!?" She called out. No one was around. They were gone, they had left their only daughter all alone. She looked all around town, calling out to them. They were nowhere to be found. She went to the bar, where they spent their days. They weren't there.
"What're you doin' here little missy?" A drunken man asked, "I-i'm looking for my parents." She stuttered. "Why don't you come home with me...i'll take good care of ya." He said with a smirk. "Um, n-no.." She said, backing away. The man grabbed her wrist, "Hey! Let her go, Dreg!" Yelled a familiar voice, Roxy turned and saw Mitch. "Get outta here, kid!" Mitch told her, Roxy turned and began to leave. She looked back and saw Mitch and the drunken man, Dreg fighting. And Mitch was on the losing end of the fight.
She began running. She reached her house, and went to her room. Her parents were gone, Mitch was gonna hate her after this, and she was all alone. She went to her room, and cried. "I-i'm gonna die alone.." She sobbed. She calmed herself and looked in the mirror, she saw the bruises, the scratch marks, the cuts. "No. It's good their gone. Now they can't hurt me anymore, i have to be strong. I can take care of myself....i-..i think.." She told herself.
She went to sleep, waking every couple hours in fear of being dragged from bed and being beaten. She woke when the sun was just coming up, and began the walk to the Diner. She rang the bell, and anxiously waited for Mitch, when he didn't come to the counter, she began worrying.
She looked in the kitchen, and screamed when she saw Mitch beaten, bloody, and dead. "M-mitch!?" She asked, she backed away. She ran home, and tried to figure out what to do. "Oh no, oh no! This is all my fault, he's dead because of me! If i hadn't gone to the bar, he'd still be alive." She panicked. She calmed herself down and went to find some work. Anything she could do to make enough money to be able to eat, and keep the house.
She searched everywhere, but no one would hire her, except the bounty hunter leader, Tritch. "So...wh-what do i have to do?" Roxy asked nervously. "I tell you to kill someone, you do it. You do it clean, and silently, understand?" He asked, "I understand, yes. But what did they do? Did they wrong you?" She asked, "No, they have a bounty for a reason, not sure why, you just shoot, and shut up. Now, can you drive a ship?" Asked Tritch. "Y-yes." She replied. "Alright, here's a gun, smokebombs, knives, and a holopad. Go to Coruscant and find this man, Kill him and leave him at his appartment, my guys will take care of the rest." He told her.
Roxy went to the ship and did as she was told. When she arrived on Coruscant, it was raining. She looked around, and checked the holopad, the man was supposed to be in his appartment, and she followed the directions to the place. She snuck into the building, and found his room. She picked the lock, and found him sleeping in his bed. She took a shaky breath, and shot him. She took a deep breath and hurried back to the ship before she was caught.
She returned to Delrakkin a few hours later, and got paid for her work. "Nice job, kid. You did it quick and quiet. I like that, i'll have to keep you around." Said Tritch. Roxy faked a smile, and took the money, and left. "What did that man do? Was he innocent? Did i kill an innocent man?!" She asked herself. Her knees went weak and she put her head in her hands.
"No, no no. No more crying, if i'm gonna do this job i have to be strong, no crying." She told herself. Three years she killed the people she was told too, constantly thinking if it needed to be done, if they were innocent. She never flinched, she saw over a hundred people die by her hands, and never flinched.
**Three years later**
She walked into her house, and sat on the floor. "That woman had a child, and i killed her.." She said quietly. She heard noise outside but ignored it. "She was probably innocent, and i killed her, now that child will orphaned. I..i'm a monster.." She said quietly. "I'm a monster!" She yelled, and she began crying. Tears fell on her armor she stole from a market. "I-i'm not innocent, i'm not a good person, i'm a horrible monster...i've killed people...innocent people probably." She cried.
"If i'm not innocent i need to take care of myself.." She whispered. She grabbed her DC-17, and held it up to her temple. She took a few deep breaths, and put her finger on the trigger. "Goodbye world.." She said.
Before she could pull the trigger, she heard gun-fire outside. Then, the door was kicked down, and in rushed..clones? "All clear...no droids, no assassin!" Shouted one of them. Roxy had the trigger a quarter way in, then one with blue armor and marking on his helmet rushed in.
"I found a girl!" He yelled, he noticed the gun she had held to her head, "Kid! Don't!" he yelled, he ran over and knelt down, taking the blaster from her. Roxy began crying, "Shh, it's okay kid. We're gonna take you home." He said, and removed his helmet. He had short blonde hair, and short stubble for a beard.
"Th-this is my home.." Roxy sobbed. The clone looked over to a man with longish hair, and a lightsaber. "Alright, listen kid. I don't know what your goin' though, but suicide is no way to fix anythin'...ok?" he told her, Roxy nodded, and kept crying. "It's gonna be okay....settle down.." He said. He picked her up and walked out of the building.
"General, what do we do with her?" The clone asked the long haired man. "She may have been in on the threat against the Chancellor, we'll take her back, interrogate her, and see where it goes from there." The man stated. The clone set Roxy down, and stooped to her level, "Alright kid, do you have any parents we can call and sort all this out with?" He asked. "No." She stated bluntly.
"Alright, well your gonna come with us, and we're just gonna ask you a few questions, ok?" He asked, Roxy nodded and dried the tears. "It'll be okay." He told her. She nodded and rubbed the scars on her arm. "Kix! Get over here and tend to her wounds." He yelled, and a medic came over.
"Hey there...i'm Kix. What's your name?" he asked, trying to make her less scared. "R-Roxy.." She told him. "Roxy? That's a very nice name. I'm just gonna look at these scars and cuts, and they you can get on the ship and get some sleep okay? How long has it been since you've slept?" He asked, "A couple days.." She replied. He nodded and tended to the cuts.
The first clone led her to the ship, and they flew to Coruscant. Once they landed, the Jedi man led her to a base looking building. They put her in a room and sat her at a chair by a table, and began interrogating her. Another Jedi came in, one with a beard and nice hair. "Oh, hello there young one. My name is Obi-wan Kenobi, i know you must be scared, but we just need to ask you a few questions, okay?" He asked, Roxy nodded.
"Do you know anything about a threat made against the Chancellor?" He asked, "No, sir. I've barely even heard about the Chancellor." She said truthfully. "Have you ever been to Coruscant?" The one with longer hair asked, "A few times, yes. But i swear i don't know anything about this threat." She replied. "She's telling the truth." Obi-wan said.
"Alright, the Captain here will take you to the Clone barracks, and you can rest, then we'll take you to a Foster home in the morning, okay?" He said, Roxy nodded, completely horrified to go into a foster home. The Captain took her to the barracks, not speaking a word. He led her to a small room, "Alright, get some shut eye, if you need anything, one of my men will get you it, ok?" He said, "Okay, thank you." She replied.
She laid down and slept. She woke a few hours later, at midnight, to the sound of men laughing. She got up and saw the Captain and a few others around a table playing poker. "Oh, hey kid. You need anything?" The captain asked. "No, i'm okay. Uh, could i join?" She asked hesitantly. "Uh, if you really want to, yeah. Just pull up a chair. Fives, deal her a hand." He ordered one of his men.
"My names Rex, by the way." He said, glancing at her from the corner of his eye, "I'm Roxy." She replied. "This is Fives, Echo, Hardcase, Kix, and Jesse. Some of my best men, and best friends." Rex said with a smile. "Nice to meet you all." She said with a small, but real, smile.
The next morning, The Jedi came and took Roxy to a large building, she assumed it was the senate building. Inside were a bunch more Jedi, and Rex. "Alright, since you have no parents, and nothing to do with the threat against the Chancellor, we're sending you to a foster home. We'll get you a bag, and some new clothes." The Jedi with the weird mask stated.
"Are you ready to go?" Asked Obi-wan. Just then, Rex stepped in. "Wait! Sorry for interupting..Generals...But, i don't wanna see this kid go to some foster home and be unhappy. What if i took her under my wing? Raised her as a solider?" Rex asked quickly. "Are you sure, Captain?" Anakin asked. "Yes sir. I'll take care of her, and be responsible for her. I think she could be a good edition to the 501st." Rex said.
The Jedi Generals looked at each other, having never seen a Clone step in like this and want to take care of a kid. "What do you think, master Yoda?" Obi-wan asked a small green alien Jedi. "Strong, this child is. If take care of her, he wants to, then stay, she can." He said. Roxy smiled, not sure why Rex wanted her to stay so badly, seeing as no one had ever wanted her.
Rex smiled at her and talked to Anakin, who didn't look too happy. Rex walked over to her, and kneeled in front of her, "You do wanna stay here, don't you?" He asked, "Yes! I would love to be here and train to fight like you." She said with a smile. "Good, let's get you to the barracks and get you your own room." Rex said, and stood up. Roxy grabbed Rex's hand in hers. "I never thanked you, for saving my life. I was about to pull that trigger.." She said quietly.
"Your welcome. Can i ask what happened?" Rex asked, "I don't wanna talk about it now." Roxy said, afraid if He knew the truth, he'd send her away. "Alright, i'll respect your privacy." Rex stated, and walked her back to the barracks.
That day, was the start of her new life, a life she knew she'd love. A life where she could be happy, and want to live.
