Okay, so this is Star Wars.  It may be long, long ago, in a galaxy far far away, but they have technology that is far advanced beyond us.  There are no cell phones in Star Wars, but there are holo communicators, those machines, both portable and non-portable that create the blue glowing image of the person you're talking to.  There are various audio-only communication devices, and others.  I don't want to see any Apple Iphone product placement in the RP though, okay? XD  

Also, here are some terms for you guys:

Blaster- Yes, sometimes they are still called guns.  They fire bolts of energy and do use ammo in the form of charge packs.

Lightsaber- Sometimes referred to as a laser sword, this is the weapon of both Sith and Jedi.  They are constructed from a variety of parts, but the most important of them is probably the Kaibuur crystal at its core.  Not only does it determine the color of the blade, but also makes it possible for there to be a blade.  A lightsaber will cut through nearly any material, some notable exceptions being extremely rare and strong metals, a Zillo Beast's tough hide, and another lightsaber.  There are many forms of lightsaber combat, seven in all.  There are also several varieties of lightsaber.  There are standard lightsabers, curved hilt lightsabers, dual blade sabers or saber staffs as some call them, and in rare cases there is a light whip, though these are probably the hardest to make and wield.  I'll post up some pictures of various sabers at the bottom of this page along with other images.

Kaibuur Crystal- A very rare crystal, most often used in the crafting of lightsabers.  It connects with the force.  The color of the crystal determines the color of the lightsaber's blade.  The most common colors are blue and green, and in rare cases, purple, yellow, white and black have also been seen.  Red however, is a color type that is normally made synthetically by Dark Side users, especially Sith.  However, there are natural crimson, or ruby colored crystals.  They are quite rare, though.  Some Kaibuur crystals are massive, far too big for use as a lightsaber.  In ancient times, they were used to power super weapons.

Holocron- This is essentially a force user's version of a HIGHLY advanced USB.  On it, one can store portions of their essence, as well as their knowledge and secrets.  Jedi holocrons have blue glowing cores and resemble cubes when closed.  They do not normally impart a piece of themselves into it, but they do leave their teachings and messages.  Most of these are either destroyed, hidden away with surviving Jedi, kept as treasures by the wealthy, or under heavy lock and key with the empire.  Sith holocrons, however, have a ruby red core, and look like a miniature four-sided pyramid.  Sith lords would impart a portion of their force essence into these as a means of making sure that their teachings and knowledge would only go to the those worthy of it.  Sith holocrons can also be used to open some doors in old Sith temples, or power ancient Sith devices.  One must think like a Sith, or be one to open a Sith holocron.

Jedi- The Jedi are a group of force users that favor the light side.  They are essentially monks with force powers and lightsabers.  However, they are much more as well.  They believe in the peace and freedom of all sentient life in the galaxy.  They are calm and collected, believing in emotional detachment where possible.  "There is no passion, there is peace."  Unfortunately, with the fall of the Republic, the Jedi are nearly extinct.  In their time, there were three ranks of training and experience among the Jedi.  The lowest being youngling, or Padawan.  These were the trainees.  Next was Jedi Knight.  When a Padawan had demonstrated a mastery of the force, among other things, they could pass their trials to achieve this rank.  The final rank is Jedi Master.  It often takes two to three decades of discipline to achieve this.  Masters are the most powerful and wise of the Jedi.  Only a small few of them remain after the purge.

Sith- The ancient enemy of the Jedi.  They use the dark side and are there own religion, with their own set of beliefs.  Like the Jedi, they also believe they are doing the "right" thing, but they are far more reliant on their personal emotions, especially fear, anger and hate when in a fight.  They are the foremost dark side users.  At one time, roughly a thousand years ago, there were many thousands of Sith masters and apprentices.  However, after a great war with the Jedi a single surviving Sith Lord established the Rule of Two, which stated that at any one time there could be two Sith in all the galaxy.  One master to embody the power, and the apprentice, to crave it.  The apprentice would learn from the master and grow powerful enough to challenge and destroy the master, thereby turning the infighting that had weakened the Sith of the past into a way to ensure that they would become stronger with each generation.  This order of the Sith is now run by the Emperor and his apprentice, Darth Vader.  In spite of this, there are still old remnants of the past Sith scattered across the galaxy.  When one becomes a Sith, one of the traditions is to take a new name, usually preceded by the word Darth.

Starship- A spaceship.  Pure and simple.  Often called just a ship for short.  There are a variety of different kinds, from small one-man fighters to MASSIVE dreadnoughts and freighters.  A TIE is a great example of a fighter utilized by the Empire.  A Star Destroyer would represent the destroyer class of ships in the Empire's forces.  Please be aware, that there are a variety of ships available, and many are not fighters or military vessels.  Make up your own if you wish.

Imperial Senate- The governing body of the empire.  It is controlled by Emperor Palpatine.  He enforces his will through the senate politically, however they are still able to vote and make some autonomous decisions.

Speeders- Speeders fill the niche of cars, bicycles, and motorcycles.  All of them are hover craft, and there are many varieties of them.  They are not designed for space travel, however.  Some range from actual hover bikes called speeder bikes, to several-seater pods.
