Later that night

NPOV

Ezra sighed as the Phantom detached from the Ghost, while Chopper complained that he was getting left behind.

"Stop complaining," Zeb growled into the comm. "Someone has to watch the Ghost.

Chopper squawked and disconnected the line. Ezra looked over at Kanan and tried to get a handle on his emotions but was met with resistance. The boy frowned and leaned against wall.

'I guess I'll just have to show him,' he thought to himself.

"We're here," Hera announced few minutes later.

Sabine smiled pulling out two miracles.

"I have our distractions."

"Only two?" Zeb asked curiously.

"Nope, these are for you and Ezra," she said handing them one each.

Ezra stared at for a moment before placing it in his pocket.

"Try to stay focused," Kanan said to Ezra before turning toward the door.

The boy sighed and went to Kanan's side. He knew that if he couldn't get Kanan to change his mind then he would be shipped off with a stranger. As the door opened, Ezra couldn't help but wince against the cold air.

"Good luck!" Hera called as Kanan leapt out of the ship and onto the platform.

Ezra watched in awe as Kanan landed gracefully and took out both troopers. Thinking he could do the same landing, he leapt from the Phantom. Ezra grin quickly faltered when he realized his mistake. Letting the force surround him, Ezra tucked and rolled hoping he didn't break his neck. He stopped when he hit the hanger doors with a resounding boom.

Kanan POV

After making a successful landing I quickly took out the guards and went to motion for the others to follow. Hearing a loud yelp, I turned my attention toward the Phantom to see Ezra in a free fall. Before I could react he tucked and rolled and hit the doors with a loud bang.

"EJ!" I said sucking in a sharp breath.

I quickly went over to him, grabbing his arm as he shakily got to his feet.

"Are you alright?" I asked as he shook his head.

"I think so," he said turning to me.

"Good," I sighed in relief before starting my rant.

"What were you thinking? Do you realize how dangerous that was? In fact we'll be lucky if all the stormtroopers in the complex didn't hear that!" I scolded shoving his shoulder to make him understand.

Ezra crossed his arms, his face falling.

"I thought I could make it," he mumbled.

"Well, you didn't," I growled as the doors sprung open till reveal a small squad of troopers.

I shoved Ezra behind me as Zeb and Sabine landed onto the platform. In a few minutes we had the troopers disabled.

"We're off to a great start," Zeb muttered.

I glared at him slightly before turning to Sabine.

"Get the door open and do it quietly."

She nodded and set to work. Once it was open we snuck into the base with hope nothing else goes wrong.

Ezra POV

Perfect, my chances of getting Dad to change his mind about shipping me off with this Luminara are getting slimmer and slimmer. As we made our way into the complex, I couldn't help but feel a sense of wrongness fill the air.

Sabine found a terminal and plugged in.

"Any idea where she is?" Dad asked after a minute.

"Detention Block C," Sabine said unplugging.

"Detention blocks on the lower levels?" He muttered to himself.

"What does that mean?" Zeb asked.

"Old schematics," Sabine said with a huff of annoyance.

"Now what?" Zeb asked.

"Hold this lift," Dad ordered. "And maintain com silence."

Zeb and Sabine nodded and got back onto the lift as Dad and I stalked toward where Luminara was being held. Once we were on a second lift I knew it was now or never.

"About what happened earlier?" I whispered.

"EJ not now," Dad whispered back not facing me.

"But," I tried not wanting to give up hope.

"What is it?" He snapped quietly.

I opened my mouth but nothing came out.

He sighed and knelt down in front of me.

"Son, this is a very important mission and I need to focus," he said.

"Just please, please don't send me off. I'll be a better student, I promise," I blurted out, tears stinging my eyes.

"Send you off? Where would you get an idea like that?" He asked slightly surprised.

"When you said Luminara would make a better teacher. I figured you were really angry that I didn't do the lesson right because I was afraid," I said quietly looking away from him.

Kanan POV

How could I have been so stupid? I have been so caught up in saving Master Unduli that I have been snapping and ignoring my child.

"EJ," I whispered glancing at where we were. "EJ listen to me. I'm not going to send you off, we are just rescuing her."

He looked up at me in wonder. The lift chimed and I squeezed his shoulder and stood up.

"We'll talk later, okay?"

He nodded and followed me out as the doors opened. After a few minutes we made it to block C.

"Now what," Ezra whispered as we looked around the corner, seeing troopers guarding the door.

"Wanna learn something new?" I smirked walking over to the troopers.

"You should be guarding the Jedi's cell," I whispered holding out my hand.

The guards repeated it.

"It's on the next level," I said.

The guards repeated it.

"You should get going," I ordered.

The guards walked off and I motioned for Ezra to come along.

"Whoa, when do I learn that?"

"Someday," I said getting the door open.

He sighed and we walked in.

NPOV

Kanan gasped slightly. Master Luminara still looked like he remembered and that immediately threw him off.

"Is that her?" Ezra asked eyeing the woman from around Kanan.

"Yes, but something is wrong," Kanan said walking up to her. "Master?"

The woman looked up at him before standing to her feet. The two watched as Luminara walk over to box looking thing and backed into it, her body melting away into a mummified corpse.

"What just happened?" Ezra asked eyeing his father.

"It doesn't make any sense," Kanan said not taking his eyes off the box.

"Not to you it doesn't," a smooth voice said from behind.

Kanan and Ezra turned around to see a tall grey figure ignite a red lightsaber and step closer.

"I'm the Inquisitor, welcome."

Kanan growled softly and ignited his own blade.

"What is going on here," he said tucking Ezra behind him

"Master Unduli died with the Republic," the Inquisitor explained. "However her bones serve the Empire by luring in Jedi to their doom."

Kanan couldn't believe it, he had brought his son right into a trap.

"I'm impressed to see a master and apprentice," the Inquisitor remarked snapping Kanan from his thoughts.

He sidestepped to fully shield the boy from view as Ezra tried to call for help.

"I'm afraid there will be no reinforcements," the Inquisitor smirked.

Kanan slid into a battle stance and attacked hoping to catch the other man by surprise, only for it to be stopped.

"Hmm interesting you favor Depa Billiapa," he said after a few attacks.

Kanan didn't say anything as he noticed Ezra had started moving toward the door. In his distracted state, the Inquisitor was able to throw Kanan to floor.

Ezra POV

I honestly didn't know how to feel as Luminara turned into a corpse. I looked up to Dad as he stared at the box in horror.

"It doesn't make any sense," he whispered slightly.

"No it doesn't really," a smooth voice said from behind.

We both turned to see a tall grey creature with a red lightsaber grinning evil at us. Dad shoved me behind him and started attacking. I moved toward the door and glanced over my shoulder. Dad was having a hard time blocking the second blade due to close quarters.

"What should I do?" I asked myself before remembering I had one of Sabine's miracles.

I pulled it out of my pocket and attached it to the door. I glanced over my shoulder and saw Dad hit the ground with that thing over him and I activated it.

"Hey ugly," I called grabbing my blaster and fired.

The Inquisitor blocked the shot directing it back at me. I tried to move out of the way but it wound up hitting my shoulder. I yelped hitting the ground clutching the bleeding wound.

"Is that all you have my boy," he sneered.

"Nope," I snipped sitting up and glanced at the beeping door. "I'm full of surprises."

Dad jumped to his feet and force grabbed the Inquisitor and threw him against the far wall. Before I knew what was happening, Dad jumped onto top of me and the miracle exploded.
