Left Alone
Kanan must leave Baby Ezra in the care of Gregor and Wolfe for the day.
Hera POV
I was working on a few diagnostics for the Ghost when I received an urgent transmission from Commander Sato.
"This is the Ghost," I answered.
"Ahh Hera, I'm so glad I've caught you," he said. "We have revieced an urgent distress signal from Tarkin Town," he said.
I stiffened at that; a distress signal from Tarkin Town?
"I am ordering the Ghost crew to go in and aid them. There will be a shuttle waiting for you within the hour," he continued. "Take Captain Rex as well."
I nodded and the transmission ended. I quickly called the rest of the crew to come to the cockpit.
"What is it Hera?" Kanan asked jogging into the cockpit.
I couldn't help but notice his soaked shirt.
"First off, where's Ezra and second why are you wet?"
"In his crib and I just gave him a bath. I forgot how much he liked to splash," Kanan said sitting in his seat.
I shook my head and turned as Zeb, Sabine and Rex came in.
"When do we leave?" Sabine asked after I had finished.
"In the next forty minutes, so gear up."
The three nodded and left the room while Kanan stayed behind.
"So, we're not taking the Ghost," he stated. "What about Ezra? We can't leave him here by himself."
I hadn't thought of that. Since he was still a baby, he certainly couldn't look after himself and there is no telling when we will get back.
"Well, we could see if Gregor and Wolfe can watch him," I finally said.
Kanan opened and closed his mouth a few times before walking out of the cockpit. I decided to follow him knowing where he was going.
Kanan POV
I smiled opening my bedroom door. My son was standing up in his crib babbling about being left alone.
"Sorry Buddy," I said walking over to him. "But Mama called a meeting."
Ezra giggled as I picked him up. I really didn't want to leave my boy but surely he would be safe enough with Gregor and Wolfe.
"Kanan?"
I turned to Hera.
"Hun I know you're worried but Ez will be fine. Besides he likes Gregor and Wolfe, and it's only for a little while," she smiled.
I sighed and kissed his head.
A short time later.

"Now do you have any questions?" Hera asked handing the two clones a data pad.
"Ehhh yeah," Wolfe said taking it. "Why us?"
"Because we don't have another option," Kanan responded coming up to them.
"Kanan," Hera chided. "No it's because we trust you both enough to watch our most precious cargo."
Wolfe eyed the baby in Kanan's arms wearily. He knew that it was the once teenager but still...
"I...I'm still not sure," he said.
"Oh come on Wolfe," Gregor chuckled taking the baby's hand. "It shouldn't be that hard. Besides he's a baby...what kind go wrong?"
"Hahaha," Kanan chuckled. "Just keep a close eye on him. He hasn't shown any signs of still having the force but you never know."
Hera's comm beeped signaling that the shuttle was ready.
"Alright we're good to go," she said kissing the boy's cheek. "Bye Sweetheart, we'll back as soon as possible."
Ezra giggled putting a small hand on her cheek. Kanan took a deep breath and let it out slowly.
"You know I have always hated leaving you Son," he whispered kissing his head. "Keep an eye on them, yeah?"
Ezra let out a small whine realizing that his Daddy was leaving him.
"I know but you'll be fine with Gregor and Wolfe," he said handing the child to Gregor.
Ezra whined harder reaching out for Kanan.
"I'm sorry Buddy, you have to stay here," the clone whispered in his ear.
Kanan smiled and walked onto the shuttle. Wolfe turned to the his friend and the boy, wondering what they have gotten themselves into.
ONE HOUR LATER
Wolfe POV
"An HOUR! They have only been gone for one hour and you have already lost the kid!" I yelled at Gregor.
"Weeeelllll...." he shrugged. "He was fussy so I put him down on his play mat thing and turned my back for a second. When I turned back around he was gone."
I facepalmed with a groan.
"Gregor, according to the notes General Syndulla left, Ezra likes to crawl and disappear. She even underlined it, don't let him out of your sight."
"Well how was I supposed to know that?" He shouted.
I sighed trying to keep calm.
"Okay, he's only six months old and can't walk yet. At least we know that's he's still on the Ghost, at the very least still in this room."
"Unless he's in the vents," Gregor said.
I gave him a bewildered look.
"Are you serious? He's a baby, how the blazes can he be in the vents?"
Gregor shrugged but paused when we heard a low whine. Looking under the table, I was relieved to see the young one.
"There you are," Gregor chuckled picking him up. "You scared Uncle Gregor and Wolfe."
Ezra let out another whine and reached out toward the door.
"Awww the little bugger misses Commander Jarrus," Gregor said hugging him close.
I watched Ezra squirm slightly.
" Yeah he probably does but it's time for him to eat and then take a nap."
Once that was done and the kid was down for his nap Gregor and I were enjoying a game of holochess.
"Wolfe, Gregor there is an emergency in the engine room. Your presence is required immediately," one of the officers called over the comm.
"We're on our way," I answered jumping up.
"Hold on Wolfe, what bout the kid?"
Oh yeah, forgot about him.
"We'll have to take him with us," I said moving to go get him.

When the two reached the engine room they were surprised by all of the people running around.
"What's going on?" Wolfe asked.
"We can't figure out why the systems keep failing," a random soldier said. "If we don't fix it soon the entire command ship will go down."
"Right, Gregor let's find a place to put Ezra and get to work."
After about five minutes the two decided on placing the boy in a box.
"At least he's still sleeping," Gregor said tucking the blanket tighter.
"Let's hope he stays that way," Wolfe commented. "Let's go."
Baby Ezra POV
I was not happy that my daddy left me. However the two that were supposed to be watching me seemed alright. One was happy go lucky and liked to play while the other always seemed to be grumpy. At least they fed me and let me get some sleep. However a loud alarm sounded waking me up from my nap. Looking around I noticed that I was definitely not in my crib but in some type of box. I don't know why but that terrified me. I struggled for a few minutes to get out and luckily it tipped over. Crawling out I tried to figure out where I was. Lots of people were running around and they seemed nervous. A door opened and I took my chance and crawl through it. I had to find my daddy.
As I continued my journey, no one seemed to notice me which I found odd. Usually everyone noticed me and picked me up. I guess they don't like babies. I paused for a moment when a door slid open. Thinking Daddy might be in there I quickly crawled in. I was sadden to not find Daddy but a bunch of people walking around. A tall one stood in the center of the room with his arms behind his back. I crawled over to him and tried to get his attention. When he didn't notice me I did the only thing I knew would get attention. Cry.

Sato jumped hearing someone crying. Looking behind him he was surprised to see a young infant.
"Ezra? Whatever are you doing here?" He asked picking the child up. "Shouldn't you be on the Ghost with Gregor and Wolfe?"
The baby frowned and fussed slightly. Sato smiled and moved the boy so he was on his hip.
"Lt. James."
"Yes Commander," one of the soliders answered.
"See if you can locate the clones," Sato asked.
"Sir they were called to the emergency in the engine room, would you like to me alert them?" Another one asked.
Sato raised an eyebrow looking down at Ezra.
"No no, let them work on the problem, they'll be along soon enough," he said. "Young Ezra will be safe here. Return to your stations."
Ezra babbled as if repeating the orders.
"I think you would be an excellent second in command," Sato chuckled booping the boy on the nose.
Thirty minutes Later
Back in the engine room, everyone was breathing a sigh of relief. The engine was fixed and the crew was safe. While Wolfe helped put things away, Gregor went to check on the baby. Only to find the box on its side and no Ezra in sight.
"Ugh Wolfe? Wolfe, we have a problem...."
Gregor POV
Two hours. We have been searching for two hours and still no sign of Ezra. Every time we asked anyone if they saw him, they would say no.
"Oh man, General Syndulla is going to kill us," I sighed.
"You better be more worried what Commander Jarrus will do," Wolfe remarked. "Look we've searched everywhere, maybe we need to get Commander Sato involved. He can order people to help us look.
"Good idea."
We hurried over to the main room.
"Commander Sato," I called as the door opened.
"Gentlemen, I take that the problem is fixed," he said not turning around.
"Yes Sir," Wolfe answered. "But we have a new problem. Ezra is missing. Somehow he escaped the engine room and is somewhere on the ship."
"Oh," Sato said turning around. "Not somewhere, he's right here."
Sure enough Ezra was in his arms smirking at us.
"Oh thank goodness you're alright," I said moving to take him.
Sato chuckled and handed him over.
"Yes, somehow he made his way in here so I just watched him until you could come. Also the Ghost crew just radioed in and said they are returning soon. You best get him back to the ship."
We nodded and did just that. Ezra was not happy being placed in his pen.
"Nope not letting you out of our sight," I sighed sitting down.
Wolfe sat down beside me muttering under his breath.
"We are to never speak of this again."
"Agreed," I said laying back with Wolfe following suit.
Ezra babbled at us but I shut my eyes and waited for someone to come. Luckily after thirty minutes Commander Jarrus was walking through the door.
"What happened to you two?" He asked.
"You're baby is what happened," Wolfe answered getting to his feet.
He gave us a weird look and walked over to the pen.
"Did you wear Uncle Wolfe and Gregor out Buddy?" He cooed picking him up.
Ezra laughed reaching for his face. Kanan kissed his head and we took that as our chance to escape.
"Ah there you are!" Rex chuckled meeting us on the command ship. "How did the babysitting go?"
"Fine," I responded quickly.
He raised an eyebrow in amusement.
"You lost him didn't you?"
"But we found him and now Kanan has him. We are done and I'm going to take a nap. BYE!" I yelled sprinting for my room while Rex's laughter boomed through the ship.
I am never babysitting again.
Hehehe, I do hope you enjoyed this chapter. As always please let me know what you thought and have a wonderful day!!
