His scream filled the air. Voices drifted around begging him to hold on. Help was on the way. Large arms scooped him up but he struggled. They were warm but the arms weren't the ones he wanted.
"Ezra!"
Several hours earlier
Ezra POV
I whimpered as I looked for Papa. When I woke up this morning, I felt horrible but I didn't want to bother Mama or Papa. They had been so stressed lately on finding missions that I figured an upset stomach was low on their priority list. However two hours later, it felt like I was getting punched repeatedly.
"Papa," I whimpered opening the cockpit door only to find it empty.
I know I shouldn't be calling him that with Zeb and Sabine within earshot but I didn't care at the moment. I was hurting and just wanted to be held.
Going into the common room I found Mom reading a data pad.
"Mama?" I croaked startling her.
"Ezra? Honey, are you ok?" She asked getting up and walking over to me.
"Where's Papa?" I asked tears starting to form in my eyes.
"Sweetie, he went to gather intel and won't be back for a few hours," she said picking me up.
He's not here? But...he's always around when I need him.
"Papa," I whimpered burying my face into her neck.
Hera rubbed my back and felt my forehead.
"Ezra, you're burning up!" She exclaimed, carrying me towards the medbay.
I gave in and started crying hoping that would bring Papa back faster.
"Shh..." Hera said trying her best to soothe me but I just wanted my father. "Don't worry Kanan will be back soon."
I didn't want it to be soon, I wanted him now.
"It will be okay," she said sitting me down on the bed.
"It hurts," I cried rubbing where my stomach hurt.
"Don't cry Sweetie," she said hugging me gently.

Hera was at a lost, for as long as she has known him, Ezra has never been sick. She gave the boy a checkover and found that he had an upset stomach, high fever, and a sore throat.
"Fine time for you to get sick," Hera chuckled running a hand through the boy's hair. "Good thing I sent Zeb and Sabine on that supply run."
"Spector one to Spector Two," Kanan's voice came over her comm.
"Go ahead Spector One," she responded.
"Gonna be a little bit longer than we planned," Kanan said quietly. "Turns out our contact has contact and they are willing to meet. How's everything?"
"Well..." Hera said looking down at child. "Spector Three is sick."
Silence was her answer.
"Spector One?"
"I'm coming back," he said.
"No," Hera replied. "We need that info. I'll watch over him."
"Are you sure?" Kanan asked uncertainty clearly evident in his voice.
"Yes, it appears to be a simple cold. Probably from being outside yesterday and then the ships heater breaking last night," Hera said petting Ezra's hair.
"Alright,Spector One out," Kanan cut off the transmission.
Two hours later
Kanan POV
When Hera said Ezra was sick, I decided that I had enough information. When I arrived back at the ship, I rushed up to his room only to find it empty. Deciding that they must be in the medbay I made my way there. Opening the door I saw a really cute sight. Ezra was snuggled securely in Hera's arms, both sleeping soundly.
"Hera, I'm back," I whispered shaking her shoulder gently.
"Huh? Oh Hi Kanan," she whispered groggily.
"Hi, how is he?" I asked worriedly.
"Throat is swollen, a 102 fever, severe pains in his stomach and he cried himself to sleep wanting you," she said.
I shrugged out of my winter gear and placed it on the bed before reaching out to take him. Hera gave him a light kiss on the forehead and then transferred him to my arms.
"I gave him a round of antibiotics to help with his throat and stomach, so as long we keep an eye on them and his fever, Ezra should be fine," Hera said standing up stretching.
"Thanks Hera," I smiled at her.
"You're welcome," she said leaving the room.
I sat down on the bed and made myself comfortable.
"I'm sorry you're sick Buddy, but I promise that everything is going to be okay."
"Papa," he whimpered grabbing my shirt in his hands.
"It's okay Buddy," I whispered rubbing slow circles on his back.
"Hurts," he said his grip tightening.
What is wrong with my little boy?
One hour later
Kanan POV
After getting Ezra to go to sleep, I went to the common room to search the holonet for what could be wrong with Ezra. I mean, I trust Hera's initial diagnosis but the force is telling me that something else is wrong with my son. After getting no where I decided to actually use the force and found something I really wish I hadn't.
"Kanan?"
Breaking my concentration I noticed Hera and the others in the room.
"Hera set course for a doctor, Ezra's in trouble," I said deciding not to waste time.
"Trouble? Kanan, it's just a cold," she said putting her hands on her hips.
Suddenly a scream echoed through the ship.
"No it's not just a cold, I believe he has an appendicitis," I said moving to go get him.
"Kanan, are you sure?" Sabine asked.
"Yes, if we don't get him to a doctor then there's a chance he could die," I said the thought making me sick.
Hera didn't need anymore encouragement. She raced out of the room with Sabine on her heels. A second scream, sent me and Zeb to the med bay.
Ezra POV
Hera gave me a couple of shots but I don't think they are working. The pain in my stomach is getting worse and it feels like I want to throw up but I can't. Finally the pain was so bad that I started screaming. The others must have been close because it didn't take long for Papa and Zeb to come in.
"Zeb grab him and I'll get a blanket," Papa said his voice sounding fuzzy.
I felt large arms pick me up gently but I started struggling. Zeb isn't who I wanted and the movement caused me to scream again.

"Ezra!" Kanan called as Zeb placed the child in his arms. "It's okay, you're going to be okay. Just hold on."
The boy whimpered rubbing his stomach again.
"It's okay, just hold on, Hera is getting us to a doctor," he soothed wrapping the blanket tight around his son's form.
"Kanan, do you copy?" Hera called over the comm.
"I'm here," the man said having to sit on the bed to grab the device.
"I contacted a doctor through Fulcrum but it's going to be two hours before we reach him," the pilot explained.
"Just hurry," Kanan said cutting the line.
"Just hold on Buddy, just hold on. Help is on the way," Kanan soothed hoping that they weren't too late.
