First Mission Part One
I'm guessing we all need some fluff. I do hope you guys enjoy this.
Hera POV
It's only been a week and I still can't believe that Caleb..er..Kanan is a father to a sweet baby boy. I turned to see the cockpit door open and the two of them come in with Ezra curled up in Kanan's arms.
"Hey," I said keeping my voice low.
"Hey," Kanan smiled sitting down.
"Is he alright?" I asked eying the boy.
"Yeah, just tired, poor kid had a nightmare last night," he answered.
I smiled pulling us out of hyperspace over the planet Naboo.
"So what's on today's agenda?" Kanan asked.
"Fulcrum asked us to check out a contact that he thinks is a little shady," I answered.
Kanan nodded and shifted the boy's weight.
"I know this is going to sound stupid but...are we sitting down where he will be safe?"
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I mean, I want to know that I when I leave he will be fine by himself on the ship," Kanan said quietly.
I smiled softly at him.
"Kanan this isn't a mission, just intel, he can come with us. We'll be perfectly fine."
An Hour Later
Kanan POV
I couldn't help but chuckle at my son's smile at the all of the different shops and people.
"This isn't Lothal, is it Son?" I asked kissing his temple.
"Nope," he giggled.
Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Hera smiling at us.
"Come on, the cafe is just up the street," she said pointing to a small building.
As we reached the cafe and walked inside, Ezra's mood went from cheerful to frightened.
"Hey, hey, what's wrong?" I asked jostling him a bit as he buried his face into my neck.
"The bad thing, it's coming," he whimpered.
"Bad thing? What bad thing?" I asked rubbing his back.
"Scared," he said tears evident in his voice.
Glancing at Hera, she motioned to a table and we sat down. Ezra refused to let go and kept his face against my neck.
"Ezra," I questioned starting to get worried.
He's gotten clingy before but I have never seen him turn this fast.
"Kanan," Hera whispered. "There's our contact."
Glancing over my son's head, I noticed a human male followed by a trashdonan. Ezra must have stolen a glance as well because he clung tighter to my neck.
"Ah the famous Captain Syndulla," the human male said taking Hera's hand. "They say you're an ace pilot but never mentioned how beautiful you are."
"Thank you, I'm guessing Fulcrum sent you?" Hera said pulling away.
"Aye, I am Vincent Martelio and this is my associate, Grievenson," he said gesturing to the trashdonan.
Hera nodded and gestured to me.
"This is Kanan Jarrus and Ezra, they are apart of my crew."
For once I was glad for Ezra's small size, as I looked at the two. Thousands of alarms were ringing in my head as I placed my child at my side and wrapped an arm around him.
"A fine crew," Vincent said holding out his hand.
I took it and had to hold in a shiver as he glanced at Ezra causing the child to whimper.
"Though this one seems a bit young."
Ezra opened his eyes for a moment and the man smiled.
"But he has big blue eyes, something that is hard to resist. Tell me where did you find him Captain?" Vincent asked.
"They came together," Hera said keeping her voice calm.
Vincent nodded with a small smile on his face.
"I see, yes most people are rather protective of the younger ones but when the right type of cash comes along, then well...business is business."
If it wasn't for the fact that Ezra was so close I would have shot the guy right then and there. He didn't have to say it for me to know, this man was a slaver.
"Now on to business," Vincent said as he sat down.
Thirty minutes later

Kanan sighed as the contacts left the cafe. Ezra seemed to relax slightly but kept a tight hold on his father's shirt.
"They're gone EJ," he said leaning down and placed a kiss on the boy's head. "You're safe."
"But they're coming back," he whispered.
"I don't think I have to tell you what I think," Hera muttered glaring at the table.
"We aren't meeting with them, right?," Kanan asked hoping that they didn't have to.
"No, I will contact Fulcrum and make sure they are arrested," Hera said getting up. "In the mean time why don't we head back to the ship for a nap and then do some shopping."
Ezra pouted at the word nap but Kanan knew that it was a good idea.
"Sounds like a plan to me."
A few hours later the small crew was once again walking around the city.
"Papa, look," Ezra smiled pointing toward a group of musicians.
"I see," Kanan chuckled going closer.
Ezra squirmed to get down but with crowd Kanan refused to release him.
"I want to play music too," the boy said.
"I know you do," Kanan said placing the boy on his hip. "But there's to many people around and I don't want you getting lost."
Hera POV
I waited for a small tantrum or something of that nature but it didn't come. I don't know a lot about humans but I do know that all young children don't like when they are told no. Ezra frowned but nodded in understanding.
"Okay, can I ride on your shoulders then?" He asked hopefully.
"Sure," Kanan said moving Ezra up.
"Do you like being tall Sweetie?" I chuckled seeing his grin.
"Yup and some day I'll be as tall as Papa," he laughed.
Kanan grinned and squeezed his knees gently.
"Don't be in a hurry to grow up Kiddo."
Ezra went to say something when he froze, little eyes widening in fear.
"Ezra? Honey what's wrong?" I asked trying to get his attention.
Ezra wrapped his arms around his father's head and buried his face in Kanan's hair. Kanan looked in the direction Ezra had been, his own eyes narrowing in suspicion.
"We need to go," he whispered pulling Ezra off his shoulders.
Casually he guided us away from the crowd and back toward the ship.
"Daddy," Ezra whimpered.
Kanan glanced over his shoulder and shoved us into the trees.
"Kanan..." I stared to question as a shot ricocheted above us.
"We need to move, come on," he whispered taking us deeper into the forest.
"Kanan we're heading away from the ship," I said trying to get him to stop.
"Can't lead them to the ship," he said. "Makes it easier to track."
After a few minutes of walking Kanan stopped and pulled us behind a large tree.
"Are we still being followed?" I asked.
"Yes," he said glancing around the tree for a moment. "I don't see them but their close."
Ezra whimpered quietly.
"Shh...it's okay," Kanan whispered, kissing the boy's head. "I'm here."
"But not for long," a smooth voice came from behind.
NPOV
The two whirled around to see Vincent Martelio and Grievenson, pointing blasters at them.
I do hope you guys enjoyed this and please let me know what you thought.
