Kanan POV

I knew today was going to be a bad day. As soon as I heard the smaller of the two chuckle my senses were screaming at me to run. Then everything started happening. I drew on the two growling protectively causing Hera to draw her own blaster. 

"Seems my theory is correct," the smaller of the two said. "You are weak."

My glare grew as the grip on my gun tightened. 

"Once we eliminate you, we can take the child and then my master will reward me."

My heart stopped for a second. How did they know about Ezra? 

"Who are you?" I asked trying to stall them so I could think of a plan. .

"Seeing as you won't be living much longer I'll tell you. I'm the First Apperentice and he's the Second Apperentice," she said indicating to her partner and then stretched out her hand.

With a yelp, Hera and I were shoved against the crates knocking us out.  When I came to I heard a loud crash followed by someone laughing.

"So useless that a child bested you?" One voice asked.

"You let him slip from your grasp," the other retorted.

"Yes, but I discovered him first," she said walking toward the ramp. "Now come on, with the rough terriean the boy will not get far."

Cracking my eyes I saw the Second Apprentice scowl slightly. However I finally realized what the female had said. They were going after Ezra.

"What of the rebels?"

"Leave them, once we have captured the boy we can force him to watch their demise."

My blood ran cold. Not only were they hunting my baby but they were going to make him watch as they killed us. There is no way I was going to let that happen. After they disappeared I turned to try and wake Hera.

"Come on," I begged after several failed attempts.

"Uhggg, what happened?" She groaned as she finally came too.

"Inquisitors I think," I said helping her to her feet.

Hera gave me a puzzled look but I didn't have time to answer.

"Look I don't know but they are after Ezra."

That got her attention.

"Then we need to go after them."

"No," I shook my head. "I'll go, you track us from the ship. Something tells me we are gonna need a quick get away."

She nodded and I ran in the direction the two apprentices had gone.

Ezra POV

I wasn't sure how long I ran for but I didn't care. Checking over my shoulder I could see the two bad people coming up fast. I increased my speed but unfortunately I didn't see the large root in my way. Tripping over it I rolled down a hill and landed with a thud. Looking up I could see the lady from earlier grin slightly and jumped down, landing in front of me.

"My you were a fun hunt," she cooed picking me up while I struggled to get away. "An even now you continue to fight, you will make a fine apprentice."

A what? What ever that was I sure didn't' want to go with her. Finally I landed a kick to her stomach causing her to drop me. Landing on my feet I took off only to realize that I was trapped by a large ice covered lake. Turning around I saw the weird people come closer and red looking things appear in their hands.

"Papa." I whimpered.

"EZRA!"

Kanan POV

After twenty minutes of running I finally found the two imperials who had Ezra cornered. The boy tried to bolt but the Second Apprentice force grabbed him and started to choke my son. Grabbing my blaster I aimed and fired. The Second Apprentice  dropped to the ground releasing the child and I fired again hitting the First Apprentice.  Ezra hit the ground gasping, not fully realizing what just happened.

"Ezra!" I called running over to him.

He started sobbing not knowing what else to do. Scooping him up I backed away quickly clutching my child close to my chest.

"It's okay, Son, it's okay I'm here, shhh...." I cooed trying to calm him down.

"Papa!" He cried clutching my shirt fearfully.

Glancing back at the Imperial scum, I saw them start to stir.

"Time to go."

I took off hoping to put some distance between us but luck wasn't on my side.Quick as lightning I felt myself being lifted off the ground causing Ezra to  scream. Before I could react we were being thrown sideways slamming through the ice. 

Ezra POV 

I couldn't breathe as I felt myself being torn from Papa's arms.  The memory of my dream came back as I struggled to move. It was so cold and I was so tired. Deciding that it was just best to stop, I felt my movements slow and I began to sink. As I blacked out, something grabbed me and I knew no more. 

Hera POV 

The minute Kanan said that Ezra was being hunted, my heart started racing. The thought of that sweet angel getting hurt or even killed tore me to pieces. Once the ship was up and running I started tracking Kanan's comm and found them by a large lake. I watched  as the two were thrown back smashing through the ice. The two Imperials started towards the water but I turned the cannons on them. Once the two were gone I swung around to see Kanan stumbling onto the shore with a limp Ezra in his arms. I lowered the ramp and as soon as they were on I was heading for space. 

Three hours later. 

I yawned as the ship set down on the Lothal plain. 

"What a day." 

"You can say that again," Kanan chuckled from behind. 

I spun around to see him and a sleeping Ezra nestled safely in his arms. 

"Shouldn't you two be in bed?" I teased. 

"I couldn't sleep besides I wanted to make sure you were okay," he responded sitting down in his seat. 

I nodded my head and gazed at the young child. He was dressed in fleece footy pajamas and you couldn't tell just a few hours ago he was on the verge of death. 

"Why would they want Ezra?" I asked. 

"I don't know," Kanan said stroking his son's hair gently sighing softly. "Hera I've been scared of losing him before but just seeing him in danger like that, it just...it just." 

"I get it," I said sparing him from saying it. "If you want to leave I completely understand." 

He looked at me slightly torn. However his eyes seemed to ignite in protectiveness. 

"No, we can't just abandon you, besides where would we go?" 

I smiled at him before a small whimper came from Ezra. 

"Papa..." 

"I'm here Baby, it's okay go back to sleep," Kanan said kissing his little forehead. 

"Don't leave me. Don't let go," the boy whimpered clutching his father's shirt tightly. 

"I'm right here, no one is going to take you from me," Kanan assured him. 

Ezra sighed as he started to drift off again. 

"I'm here Baby, you're safe," Kanan said running his fingers through the boy's hair. 

I awed as the boy started sucking on Kanan's shirt slightly. 

"He hasn't done that since he was five," the man commented. "Then again it has been a traumatic day for him." 

"So you're really gonna stay?" I asked slightly hopeful. 

"Yeah," Kanan said grinning at me. "It's a big galaxy, it's not like we will ever see those two again." 

I chuckled as we both turned to stare out at the night sky. Things might have been crazy today, but tomorrow is a new day. 

Hehehe so most of y'all have been wondering if the two apprentices are the Fifth Brother and Seventh Sister and the answer is yes.  Also I am thinking about publishing a book professionally and was wondering if I should. Let me know what you guys think and have a great day!
