Blizzard

Hello everyone! I'm sorry for not updating in awhile but I have been busy. Anyway I do hope you enjoy this chapter and I have not forgotten about the ones requested.

NPOV

Kanan shivered as he made another pass around the bar.

"You alright Kanan," Joe asked eyeing the young man.

"Yeah, yeah, just cold," he said glancing down at the small child sleeping peacefully in the play pen.

"Is winters on Lothal always like this?" He asked tucking the blanket tighter around his son.

"Unfortunately yes," Joe answered.

Kanan POV

I nodded and went back to work. A couple of hours later the temperature only seemed to drop. I was getting worried that Ezra would get to cold. Janus's death was only a few months ago and since then I have rarely let my son from my sight. I was so scared that something would happen and he would leave me too. However, doing as Janus instructed I took my son to Lothal and found Joe. Upon hearing the news of his friend's death, Joe offered me a bar tending job and a place to stay until we could get on our feet. At first I was worried that the owner wouldn't allow me to keep Ezra at the bar but after I explained the situation he not only allowed it but encouraged it, thinking that it might help keep the fighting down.

Checking the time I realized that it was five minutes past when I supposed to take my break. I quickly washed my hands and ducked behind the bar. Ezra had been quiet most of the day but he was starting to get restless.

"Come here Buddy," I said picking him up.

He shivered slightly so I quickly wrapped him up in my jacket.

"There, that better?" I asked sitting down on one of the bar stools.

He snuggled into my sweater and settled down.  The noise of the bar faded away for a few minutes as I rocked him, his soft breaths making his small cheeks puff out as he gripped my shirt in his small hands.

Suddenly the door flew open and several people ran in.

"No body can leave now!" One hollered.

I jerked my head up subconsciously clutching Ezra to my chest. The man who yelled slammed the door shut and bolted it. Turning around he took off his hat and scarf to reveal the owner of the bar.

"Mr. Trevortin," I sighed in relief loosening my grip slightly.

"Sorry to scare you Kanan, but I was trying to get over here before the blizzard hit, but that didn't happen," the man said placing his things on the counter. "I can't in good conscious let anyone go out in this storm.  I will pay you and Joe, so don't worry about staying."

I nodded my head but my mind was already in overdrive. A blizzard? We're stuck here and for how long? I glanced down at my son as he began to whimper.

"Shh..easy EJ easy," I soothed. "We'll be okay. Yeah, its okay."

Ezra wouldn't have any of it as his whimpers got louder.

"I think the storm is frightening the young one," Mr. Trevortin said eyeing my boy.

"Probably," I answered getting up and started pacing.

Ezra seemed to calm down and went back to sleep.

"How long do blizzards normally last?" I asked sitting back down.

"Depends really," Mr. Trevortin responded. "But don't worry we are perfectly safe in here."

I sighed and sat back down. Today was going to be a long day.

Three hours Later

NPOV

Kanan was scurrying around trying to keep the agitated customers happy. Even Mr. Trevortin was helping the best he could. Just when Kanan didn't think his nerves could take another hit, Ezra started crying out. He jerked around to see a fight had broken out and one of the patrons slammed into the bar startling the baby on the other side.

Kanan not caring about the fight ran to his child and scooped him up hoping to soothe the frazzled nerves. Luckily Trevortin broke up the fight and then jumped up on the counter.

"Everyone LISTEN!" He shouted.

Everyone in the bar turned to stare at the man.

"I know we are stuck here until the storm lifts and it ain't the best conditions but fighting is not the way to solve anything. If anyone hasn't noticed there is a young one here and I'm pretty sure his father doesn't want him getting hurt. So if ya'll would be so courteous as to calm down and be patient we will do the best we can, thank you."

Kanan smiled as the man jumped down and turned to face him.

"What?"

"Nothing," Kanan laughed before moving to put Ezra back in his play pen.

"No you don't Kanan," Mr. Trevortin said waving his hand. "Keep that boy right where he belongs, your arms. It's getting really cold and I don't want him freezing, so if that means you stay at the bar than so be it. Keep that baby warm."

With that the man grabbed an order and went to fill it. Kanan gave him a weird look and made up a sling and made sure the child was secure before going back to work.

The following the day the storm let up and the patrons were finally able to leave the bar. The three workers sighed in relief slumping down into the bar stools. Ezra patted his father's stubbly face demanding his attention.

"What EJ?" Kanan asked tiredly cracking his eyes to stare into the shining blue eyes.

The child laughed patting his face again.

"What? *Gasp* Are you laughing at Daddy's beard?" Kanan whispered kissing his son on the forehead.

Ezra giggled reaching toward the window. Kanan turned around to see the blinding white landscape. Looking back at Ezra he smiled to see the boy so happy.

"Don't worry Son, you'll get to go and play in the snow, but only after I've had a nap."

Ezra made a confused noise causing the men to burst out laughing confusing the child more. Kanan hugged him close and sighed in content.

'Janus may be gone, but at least we have each other," he thought to himself.

Only time will tell.

I know I have been tagged on several different occasions and I am sorry that I have not done them. Things have been crazy and I do hope ya'll can forgive me. Have a wonderful day!
