Ezra's P.O.V
My head hit the pillow on my bed and I was out like a light. Yet, I wasn't sure how long it would last with the dream I'm having at the moment.
I was playing a game on the holo table with Kanan. I wasn't sure where the rest of the crew was. We kept playing until I won and I have no clue what game we were even playing. "You either cheated or this game is rigged," Kanan said eyeing me suspiciously. "Or you are just a sore loser," I replied smirking.
He rolled his eyes then a scream pierced through the ship. "What was that?" I asked jumping out of the seat and onto my feet. "I don't know and I'm not sure if I want to," Kanan said. We quietly made our way through the Ghost and checked the rooms.
I opened the door to Zeb and I's room then I recoiled when I saw the scene. Zeb was laying on the floor in an ocean of his own blood. His limbs were cut off and set to the side like they were nothing. "Ezra what's-" Kanan stopped talking when he saw what I was seeing. "Come on," he said helping me up, "we need to see if the others are ok."
I agreed and regrettably turned my back on my slaughtered brother. The weight of guilt was replaced with fear for the others. Were they ok? Did they encounter the blood-thirsty murderer yet and met their own demise? I shivered at the thought of my new family getting brutality killed. I won't let this happen while I'm still alive! They will pay!
Me and Kanan ran towards the cockpit when we heard a voice yell, "NO!" I opened the door to see Hera standing in front of it with a pale face and wide eyes. Once I looked down, I saw the cause coming from her stomach. A red blade. It came out of Hera's stomach and she fell to the floor. Then a clocked figure was standing there with his or her lightsaber in hand. I wasn't able to make out who it was since the murderers face was concealed with a shadow.
"YOU WILL PAY!" I said angrily and charged at the figure with my lightsaber. The figure was fast as it slid down the ladder and was heading for our last crew member. "E-Ezra..." I heard Kanan say behind me and I turned around to face him. "What?!" I said annoyed. "Your lightsaber and eyes," he said fearfully. I looked at my blade to see that it was red.
I deactivated the deadly weapon and threw it away from me. I glanced down at Hera who lays lifeless on the floor. She was like a mom I never had and I felt like crying cause I couldn't protect her or Zeb. I stayed strong cause me and Kanan still had to protect one more crew member. I picked up my lightsaber and calmed down.
I ignited it and saw it change back into its natural blue. "We need to go and get Sabine before whoever that is, gets to her first," Kanan said and I nodded. We both slid down the ladder and stopped when my feet hit the cargo bay floor. Kanan and I saw the figure cornering Sabine with their lightsaber at her neck.
Kanan's P.O.V
First Zeb, then Chopper and Hera, now Sabine was going to be next. Who was this wise guy to come on our ship and kill the ones we come to see as more than a crew?! Who ever it is, they are dead. Suddenly, Ezra let out a battle cry and charged at the figure. Is he crazy?! What am I saying? Of course he would do this.
The figure turned around and skillfully blocked Ezra's attack with their lightsaber. I soon joined the fight to help Ezra. "Get out of here Specter 5!" I shouted and Sabine nodded determined. The figure didn't like our idea of Sabine getting away so he or she force pushed us to the wall saying, "Enough!"
Ezra and I slammed into a wall so hard that that I heard a snap. I surprisingly didn't get knocked out though but I couldn't move. I had to watch Sabine's fate be taken through blurry eyes and their is nothing I could do about it. I could only move my head to see Ezra in the same state as I am.
Then I turned to see the monster talking with Sabine. "Well it looks like your little family will die young girl," the figure said, "Soon you will die then the Jedi and I will have a new apprentice but in the mean time..." The figure then raised their blade saying, "Off with your head!" Then it came down and Sabine's head hit the floor with a thump as the rest of her body soon followed.
"No.." I heard a weak voice and almost forgot that Ezra was still here. I felt my my vision start to focus more and I could move again along with Ezra. We both stood up and ignited our blades. "Yes," the figure said, "use the dark side child." I looked over at Ezra to see his red lightsaber and yellow eyes. "You are so dead!" Ezra yelled and again charged without thinking.
"Ezra!" I shouted, not caring about our code names anymore. I needed to help Ezra beat this monster senseless and keep him from going to the dark side. I ignited my blade and helped fight this monster the took the lives of my family. "You think you can stop me Jedi?" The figure said.
"Well, there is no harm done in trying, right?" I said sarcastically smiling. The figure didn't seem to be affected by me and kept fighting. I was about to bring another blow to the figure when they suddenly moved out of the way. A searing pain went through my stomach making my freeze in my attack.
I saw Ezra standing there in shock holding the blade that went through me. Ezra deactivated it and I fell to the ground. "No, no, no," Ezra repeated, "What have I done?" "It's ok, Ezra," I told him, "It will be alright." My padawan knelt down next to me and shook his head, "No, it's not ok."
Before I could black out I said, "I don't blame you."
Ezra's P.O.V
Kanan's dead because of me. "Doesn't that feel good my apprentice," the figure said revealing themselves to be...(Mary Antoinette, jk) the Seventh Sister. "You will pay!" I yelled and attacked her. Soon, I took the upper hand and stabbed her through the heart. She fell to the floor lifeless.
I fell to my knees and some sobs left my mouth. I hugged myself in the dark and silent cargo bay with three dead bodies around me. Voices of my parents and the crew screamed all around me saying that it was my fault that they died. Then everything went silent and dark again. I felt cold.
I shot up with sweat pouring down my face, wait not sweat, tears. I looked below me to see a loud, snoring lasat sleeping peacefully. I calmed down but not enough to stop a sob from leaving my lips. I decided to leave the room so I wouldn't wake up Zeb and to get something to drink.
I went to the kitchen and when I entered, Kanan was sitting at the table nursing his own drink. He looked up at me then a wave of sadness hit me and I could tell that it was coming from him. Yet, he was very good at not showing it. I quickly wiped my tears away and walked over to get a glass of water. "You had a nightmare too?" He asked and I walked over nodding since I didn't trust my voice at the moment.
I also kept my head bowed in case I had tear tracks. "Are you ok? Your never this quiet," he asked me worried with a little bit of teasing. I took a sip and nodded again. There was no way I was going to cry in front of Kanan. I sometimes had to bite my tongue to hold back a sob and blink my eyes so tears wouldn't fall.
"What was your nightmare about?" He asked me and I took a long sip so I wouldn't ask the question. Eventually, I ran out of water and Kanan was still waiting for my answer. I stood up to get more water and then leave so I wouldn't have to answer any of his questions.
A hand laid on my shoulder and stopped me half way towards the sink. "You'll feel better if you talk about it," he said still prying me to talk. I never seen this side of Kanan before, he sounds so caring and stern with worry. Still, I'm to stubborn to talk so without looking up at him, I muttered, "Well maybe I don't feel like talking."
I brushed his hand off of my shoulder and set the cup in my hand on the counter. I walked towards the door to exit the kitchen without looking up at Kanan. I could feel worry come from Kanan and knew that he wasn't done yet.
His hand stopped me again and I heard him say, "My room, we are going to have a little chat." I rolled my eyes but didn't disobey and headed towards Kanan's room. We entered and I sat on his bed and hugged myself with my head bowed finding the floor interesting.
I felt the bed move and knew that Kanan sat next to me. "Talk," he said to me. I sighed and made sure my voice won't crack when I was talking. "Just saying, it was just a nightmare," I said thinking of a way out of this, "It's not like I haven't had them before and I was alone for most of them."
"Well, I got news for you kid," Kanan said laying his hand on me. This time it felt more like a genuine kind of touch that I looked up not caring what I look like after he said, "You are not alone anymore." I turned back to the floor and began to tell him my nightmare.
Kanan's P.O.V
The kid was actually telling me. I never thought he would but he is. When he was explaining the nightmare, it sounded like the exact one that I had. Sometimes Ezra's voice cracked at some parts and/or he stopped for a moment to regain his composure.
When he was done explaining, "There you happy," he said then went silent and waited for me to say something. I didn't say anything cause I knew that actions were more than words so I hugged him. I could feel a wave of shock through the force and I smiled a bit. Ezra didn't lean in cause he was to frozen in shock or he doesn't want to show his weak side. "You know..." I started, "I think our bond has grown stronger."
"W-Why do you say that?" He asked and I'm sort of surprised he talked. "I had that same exact dream," I said. We were silent but it was still very tense between the both of us. All sorts of emotions that Ezra was trying to hold back were being released sometimes through the force. The main emotion that Ezra had at the point was fear.
I knew why, I saw him use the dark side even if he was just sleeping. That doesn't mean you could still turn cause your in your own head still. I have heard some force users become Sith because of nightmares. That's what scares me if Ezra has nightmares and he won't talk with me which could lead to more then soon the Sith.
"Ezra..." I said, "I won't blame you if you did turn to the dark side. I would blame myself since I'm not teaching you fast enough to control your anger. Your powers are growing and I'm not sure how to keep up with them. This is why I wanted you to train with master Luminara."
"I still don't want her even if you say she is a better master than you are," he said, "I just want you and your doing fine as is." When he was talking, I noticed that he relaxed and leaned in the hug laying his head on my shoulder. I rubbed his back to help keep him calm.
"Then you have to listen to me for a second ok?" I said, "I can feel that you are holding your emotions in and trying to block me. You can let them out, you have the right to cry. No one especially Chopper will think little of you."
"Promise?" He asked like he was still a child full of hope. "You have my word," I said and it wasn't long until I heard him silently cry into my shoulder. I just stayed there and comforted him as long as he needed. My shirt felt damp but I didn't care at the moment. He has been through so much and I'm proud that he is still standing even if we are getting more and more dangerous.
I soon heard soft snoring and felt a calming ease and peace coming from my padawan. No, my son. I smiled and helped him lay down in bed. I pulled the covers up and sat there with my back laying against the fall. I soon fell asleep myself from exhaustion of staying up a little to long.
Hera's P.O.V
Everyone was up expect for Ezra and Kanan. In fact, they never came out for breakfast or training yet. I walked towards Ezra and Zeb's room and opened the door to wake up Ezra. There was a problem, he wasn't in there. I went to Kanan's room to ask where Ezra was and when I opened his door, a smile crept on my face.
Ezra was laying comfortably under the covers to the bed and Kanan was sitting with his back against the wall, both looking extremely tired. I spotted tear tracks on Ezra's face and knew why. He has been having nightmares lately but it seems like Kanan has finally talked with him. I tried to talk to Ezra about the nightmares but every time he stubbornly refused. Ezra reminded me of Caleb or should I say Kanan when he was younger.
I almost laughed at the thought but held it back so I wouldn't disturb the sleeping boys. I walked over and knelt down next to Ezra. He would disapprove of this and probably shocked if he were awake but I kissed his forehead. Then I moved some of his bangs from his face and saw him lean into my touch. My smile grew as I stood up to look at Kanan who was on the other side of Ezra.
I reached out and set my hand on the side of his face. He stirred a bit but leaned in and went back to sleep. "Your doing a good job, keep it up," I whispered to him then I retracted my hand. I walked to exit the room but looked back one more time before the door closed behind me as I left.
