Chapter 6

"A Fox and a Leopard, resting lazily after a generous dinner, amused themselves by disputing about their good looks. The Leopard was very proud of his glossy, spotted coat and made disdainful remarks about the Fox, whose appearance he declared was quite ordinary.

The Fox prided himself on his fine bushy tail with its tip of white, but he was wise enough to see that he could not rival the Leopard in looks. Still he kept up a flow of sarcastic talk, just to exercise his wits and to have the fun of disputing. The Leopard was about to lose his temper when the Fox got up, yawning lazily.

"You may have a very smart coat," he said, "but you would be a great deal better off if you had a little more smartness inside your head and less on your ribs, the way I am. That's what I call real beauty," I read, "Then it says something about 'A fine coat-'" "is not always an indication of an attractive mind," the girl said cutting me off.

I read the rest to myself and was surprised to see that she got it word for word. "How did you know?" I asked. "I don't know," she said, "it sounded familiar, I guess." "Does that mean you're getting your memories back?" I asked. "To be honest," she started, "I feel like they are all mixed up together, new, old, probably even fake." "What do you mean?" I asked confused. "I don't know," she said, "ugh, now I have a headache."

Then she started to laugh for some reason which slowly turned into blood-curling screaming. My eyes widen in surprise from the sudden screaming. It was like she was seeing something that I couldn't see. "Hey!" I said shaking her by the shoulders, "Snap out of it!" "Stop! Don't touch me!" She cried and moved away from me with tears streaming down her face in fright.

"It's ok, I'm not going to hurt you," I said gently. "Stay away from me!" She yelled then flinched when I stepped toward her. I stopped and stood straight not sure what to do. "Please don't hurt me," she begged in a quiet voice which made my heart shatter. I wish I could help but then I would probably make things worse. I began to walk to the cell door then looked back at her before leaving.

I sighed and went to the Ghost to see Kanan and Hera standing there. "So?" Kanan asked, "I'm guessing it didn't go well." "No, it didn't," I said. "What happened?" Hera asked. "I don't know, one minute, I'm reading then talked to her for a couple of seconds. Then the next, she is half scared to death," I explained. "Do you know why?" Hera asked. "I think it's because her head is messed up," I said, "She said that all her memories are mixed up from new to old to even fake ones probably."

Hera and Kanan looked at each other confused. "I didn't know either but I think I have a theory on what's happening to her," I said and the two looked at me to continue. "I think her emotions are tapped in with her memories so she can't think clearly on what's happening around her," I said. "That's a good theory," Kanan said impressed, "We'll keep that in mind."

I smiled then frowned looking back at the girl's cell. I felt a hand lay on my shoulder and looked up to see Kanan. "Don't worry, we'll figure this out together," he said making me smile again. "I know," I replied then I remembered something. I left the book back in the cell. "I'll be right back," I said, "I forgot the book." "Ok," Kanan said then he and Hera went off somewhere into the Ghost.

I walked over to the girl's cell then opened the door. I saw her sleeping in the corner that she was huddled in when I was somehow scaring her. I quietly walked over and grabbed the book from the bench. I was going to walk out of the cell when I heard the girl speak. "No, I don't want to," she said, "I don't want to leave." I was going to the door again but stopped and looked back at the girl.

"No, no, no please," she begged. I walked over to her and shook her gently with my free hand. "Hey, wake up, it's just a dream," I said. The girl stirred as her eyes shot open and started breathing hard. "It's ok," I said to calm her down. "I got a question," she said. "What's the question?" I asked and chills were sent down my spine when she started smiling and laughing a bit. "Who are you?" She said and started to laugh like a maniac.

I backed away and left the cell with her haunting laugh stuck in my head with the same question stuck on repeat, 'Who are you?'
