The Plan Part Two

Hello everyone! The time you have been waiting for has come! Thank you so much for the kind reviews and I hope you enjoy the next chapter. Have a great day!

Hera POV

"What's wrong with him?"

Kanan ran his fingers through Ezra's hair, staring at child's face.

"I have only seen it once. Ezra is having visions and at the same time they are turning into nightmares. The intensity of them are lowering his defenses. A week before Order 66 occurred the same thing happened to me. My Master said that once she realized the problem, she went into my head and healed me."

"Is that what you are gonna have to do?" I asked hesitantly.

"Probably not, but I remember her saying that almost every single one of the dreams had me dying. It was then she became over protective. Barely let me out of her sight," he chuckled at the memory.

I knelt down and felt Ezra's forehead.

"Kanan, I think his fever broke," I said looking up.

No sooner did I say that, Ezra woke up again. This time more focused.

"You with us Son?" I asked him.

"Yeah, what's going on? How did I get in here?" He asked.

"You walked in here having a nightmare," Kanan said looking at him strangely.

Ezra stared back at him.

"I did? Oh no," he whispered.

"What?" I said knowing when he said that, usually something bad followed it.

"Then that means I made it to the end of the dream!" He shouted sitting up.

"Whoa whoa slow down. You are still not up to full strength," Kanan ordered pushing him back onto the bed.

"Ezra, how long have you been having those dreams?" I asked.

He looked up at me not sure what I meant. Kanan turned the boy's head so they were looking at each other.

"Are these nightmares the reason you have been sick?"

"I guess," He said shrugging his shoulders. "Every time I would fall asleep I would see the entire crew getting caught and then Dad doing something stupid."

Kanan and I shared a look and sat down by his side.

"Ezra, why didn't you say something?"

Again he shrugged his shoulders and let out a yawn.

"Go back to sleep EJ," Kanan said placing a hand on his shoulder.

Ezra drifted off a relieved but fearful  look on his face. Again Kanan and I shared a look wondering what the future might bring.

Several Days later.

Kanan POV

We continued working on the plan and Ezra was on the mend. His nightmares had stopped but he was still being clingy; mainly clinging to me. I asked him why and he said that he was just being sure. Not really understanding I  let it go for now.  After a long I had ushered Ezra off to bed saying that he need his sleep for tomorrow night. I walked into my room to see Hera already asleep. Quickly I changed into my night clothes and slipped into bed.

"Good night Love," she whispered softly.

"Good night," I answered kissing her cheek.

She sighed and snuggled against my side. I relaxed my body and stretched out through the force. Into Zeb's room to sense he's nodding off, Sabine fast asleep with a sketch book by her head, Ezra sleeping peacefully, Chopper was powered down charging, and the ship itself seemed to be at peace. I drifted off not knowing what was about to come.

Dream: still Kanan's POV

We were at the tower. I gasped as a shot connected with my shoulder guard. Zeb and Sabine fired off shot after shot. Ezra was on board with Hera.

"Spector One, call off the mission," Hera's voice called over my comm.

"Kinda of busy," I said deflecting a shot.

Then everything started happening. Troopers got in a lucky shot and Zeb and Sabine went down. A large groan followed by an explosion had me looking up. Ties had caught Hera off guard and the engine had caught fire. I could feel Ezra's fear over our bond and I watched as she tried to land the ship. It seemed like she would until a second explosion sounded and a pained scream came across the comm. I couldn't speak. My family, my wife, my son...gone. Just like my Master.

"Well, that was unfortunate," a smooth voice said from behind.

I spun around to see the Inquisitor standing with his saber ignited. I growled.

"Come now, if you had just come quietly then this wouldn't have happened," he gestured.

I glanced down at Zeb and Sabine. Then shifted to the remains of the Phantom. I wasn't going to let the Empire get away with this. Igniting my own saber, I ran forward. He chuckled and stabbed me.

End of the dream/ NPOV

Kanan jerked awake with a gasp. He sat up rubbing his chest trying to calm his racing heart.

"Mm...Kanan? Are you alright Love?" Hera asked sleepily.

The man laid back down and wrapped her in a hug.

"You're alive," he whispered relieved.

Hera went to respond when their door slid open. They turned to see a blearily eyed child trying to wake himself up.

"Papa? Mama? Are you guys okay?" He asked.

Kanan got up and walked over to him. He knelt down and cupped his face.

"Yeah, just had a bad dream that's all," he whispered.

Ezra nodded blinking slowly.

"Go back to sleep Son," Kanan said using the force to lull the boy to sleep.

Ezra slumped forward into his Kanan's embrace.

"I'll put him  to bed and then I'll be back," he said picking Ezra up and going across the hall.

"Oh EJ," Kanan sighed sitting down on the bed. "That dream, it felt so real and now.... I just don't know."

He sighed in exhaustion still holding the boy to his chest.

"Do we have to do this?" Ezra mumbled against his shirt.

Kanan POV

I honestly had no way to respond to that question. On one hand we could inspire hope to the galaxy and on the other my instincts were screaming at me to think about the boy that is so precious to me. What would happen to him if I died? Would he continue the fight or would his grief push him to the dark side? I tensed thinking about that but as I continued to look down at him the plan I had come up with seemed more solid. We would get away with this one and the Empire was going down.

The next night

The time had finally come and we were on our way to the communications tower. I ignored the warnings the force was screaming at me and lead the way. Ezra was at my side carrying Chopper on the back of his speeder. I could tell he was nervous. Sabine flew past us distracting the troopers and firing at some. Zeb snuck around and took over one of the big guns. I just kept Ezra at my side as the thoughts of my dream came back.

"Not gonna happen this time," I growled.

"What?" Ezra asked.

"Nothing, come on," I said as we made it to the front door.

Chopper grumbled as he lifted off the speeder and sped into the tower Sabine right after him.

"Spector Six you're on the clock!" I called.

While Sabine got to work Ezra spun around from his spot by the terminal a look of fear on his face.

"Time's up," he called running over to me.

I looked in the direction he was and saw the Imperial forces closing in.

"Great," I mumbled. "Ezra go get Zeb and come back here," I ordered.

"I'm staying with you," he said igniting his blade.

I didn't have time for this.

"No, you are going to get Zeb and then you are to come back here," I said gripping his shoulders tightly.

Seeing how serious I was he ran to do as told. I shuddered slightly and hoped that my dream didn't come true. The time it took Ezra and Zeb to get back, Sabine was finished with the data spike. I ordered them back inside and go up to the top. Except one was being stubborn.

"Ezra go!"

He looked at the Imperials landing and back to me.

"Please come with me," he pleaded.

I wanted to grab him into a hug and tell him how much I loved him but I couldn't. I just gave him a soft smile and shoved him inside with a lie.

"I'll be right behind you."

I felt the Inquisitor land behind me. It was time.

Ezra POV

Dad smiled at me before shoving me inside the tower. I saw the Inquisitor land behind him saber ignited

"I'll be right behind you," he said turning around to face the troopers.

I got up to help him but Dad slammed the button for the doors and I heard the familiar sound of the control panel being sliced. Sliced? But that meant...NO!

"KANAN!" I cried out.

Zeb grabbed my arm and drug me onto the lift.

"No let me go! He's gonna..."

"Easy Kid, Kanan's not that stupid," Sabine offered.

I gave her an 'are you kidding me' look.

"You don't know him like I do."

The lift chimed and we ran out onto the platform. I ran over to the railing and looked down trying to find my father. I couldn't see him and that made me terrified.

"Kid come on!" Zeb hollered grabbing my waist jerking my away.

"No I have to...Zeb please..." I struggled but he just threw me onto the Phantom.

Sabine jumped aboard and Hera flew from the tower.

"Hera, we have to get Kanan!" I cried.

If my father wouldn't leave us behind then I knew my own mother wouldn't leave him behind. Until...

"Spector Two get out of here," Dad's voice came over the line.

"Not an option Kanan," Mom retorted.

"No time, get him out of here," he said.

Those words made my heart ache. To the very end he would protect me. Mom glanced at me trying to make a decision.

"HERA!" He yelled.

That sealed it, I could see it in her eyes. She hit the button for the door but I was already running. Zeb grabbed me again and it sealed shut. He let me go and I slammed into the door  tears streaming down my face.

"No, no, no, NO!" I cried.

I couldn't help it, and quite frankly I didn't care. My father, the only man I knew that really cared about me, was in the hands of the Empire and we just left him.

Hera POV

Ezra was broken hearted there was no denying that. As soon as we made it back to the ship, he made a beeline for my room. A part of me wished that this was a dream and I would wake up to see my husband cradling a young Ezra after a bad dream or heck even when he was sick. Just to see that smile and see the love for his son on his face. Unfortunately this wasn't a dream and we... I, had left Kanan to the Empire.

"Ezra?" I called softly entering the room. "Honey?"

I could hear his growl from the lower bunk.

"You left him."

"I know and I'm torn up about to, but we will get him back," I told him.

Ezra looked up tears still running down his face.

"Now come on, the mission's not done," I said holding out my hand.

He wiped his face and took my hand.

"This isn't over," he said quietly.

I agreed and we went into the common room to finish what Kanan started so we could get him back.
