Chapter 1: 19 months

Chapter 1: 19 months

10 years and 7 months later (Then the prologue) : Today

Maia POV

"Specter 7, are you in position?" Sounded through the com. "Bad time Specter 1." I replied, which caused that I almost lost my grip on the rope. Quickly I clutched the com between my teeth and climbed further. My teeth were vibrating when there sounded an answer. "What do you mean? Have you been seen?" There was a slight uneasiness in Kanan his voice.

Maybe you should give me some time to get in position?

The end of the cable, which I had strained between the two buildings, I had achieved and I had to squeeze myself in a lot of corners to get myself on the roof of the Imperial Senate Building. "Specter 7! Are you ignoring me!?"

"Sorry Specter 1, but if I am hanging upside down on a rope, I'd rather wait with answering." I hissed in my com. "And if you'll excuse me, I have to sneak in a building." With that I hung up. Too bad I couldn't see Kanan's expression.

Soon I already found the vent which Sabine had recommended me since this one was no longer in use so I wouldn't freeze to death like the last time, or melt like an ice-cream as a few times before. The screws that held the vent on his place, were rusted and impossible to move so I activated my crimson saber in order to create an opening. When the plate felt down, I immediately got a view on the content of the shaft.

You gotta be kidding!

It was obvious that he was no longer in use or maintain. The whole interior was covered with spider webs and where a web is, must be a spider. She knew what Ezra would say in this situation.

Ezra...

Her shoulders sagged at the thought of the boy that she so much loved. The sadness came back.

Come on Maia! Keep your chin up!

Before I would change mind, I crawled into the hole of the old ventilations shaft. When I crept further, dusty spider webs were constantly sticking at me. To my relief, I didn't had an encounter with a hairy eight-legged friend. Yet I was still relieved when I had left the shaft and hit the floor of the abandoned office.

Nobody.

Perfect.

On the desk was the closed computer that I searched. Quickly before anyone was planning to come in here, I let my fingers go on the keyboard and there appeared the decoder.

"A decoder as ordered." I grinned.

Just as I was planning to crawl back into my dusty passageway, I heard voices. Shit! The door could been opened every second.

I putted the decoder back in the computer and crawled under the desk when the door slid open.

"I will send two new of my mans behind him, as the previous two didn't survive it again." I heard a deep voice say, followed by heavy breathing.

"Of course, Lord Vader." Shit! Shit! Shit! This is how it was currently going on in my head.

"Give them all the information that I had sent to you now." There was a small beep. I was glad to hear that, because that means the Sith Lord was a Holocron.

That.

And I saw only one pair of legs.

"Don't disappoint me Kallus." I held my breath as Kallus sat down on the chair in front of the desk. I was flinching so his feet didn't touch me. The tapping of fingers on the keyboard was all there was to hear.

Go away pleas. Go away pleas. Go away pleas. While I was praying, I closed my eyes and hardly dared to breathe.

There was again a small beep heard so I opened my eyes again and stopped my praying. "Agent Kallus, the rebels have been spotted in bay eight. They are trying to get away with the cargo of new weapons that just has been delivered."

"I'll be right there." O thank the Force!

From the moment the door closed behind the ISB-agent, I shot back into action. All the new information was sent to the decoder. Immediately after I succeeded with the transmission, I made my escape.

My heart was still racing in my chest when I crawled out of the shaft. I was so grateful to feel the cold night air blow in my hair. I grabbed my com and let the rest know that I had the decoder filled with much needed information. Hopefully the right much needed information this time.

The decoder I stopped safely away in my pocket. After I was sure that I couldn't lose it, I loosened my belt and hung it around the tight cable that still hung on it place. So I let myself slide down, while I asked the utmost of my arm muscles that had to carry my full weight. Not that I weighed so much, but still. Gently I landed in a deserted alley and with the help of the Force I had a soft landing. Ha! Kanan should have saw that! That was the first time I had succeeded after many training sessions. During the training with Kanan I had fell countless times on my face, for great entertainment to Zeb and Chopper.

I was careful that I remained in the shadows of the buildings, using the darkness as an ally. "Maia!" Sabine I spotted at the end of the alley where I had landed in. "Come on!" Everything went so far as planned for once. Immediately I ran towards her when I started to noticed the various wanted posters on the walls of the dark lane. I skidded to a halt when I saw that one. My heart seems to skip a beat while studying the face of the searched. "Specter 7! They are right on our heels!" That brought me back to reality. Without wanting to lose another second, but also not this, the piece of paper was torn off the wall and quickly rolled up by me. And before the troopers could overtake us, I followed Sabine to the Ghost ship where the rest of the crew was waiting for us.

I was the last one to walk on the ramp. The cargo space was filled with a numerous number of crates. "What's with the crates?"

"In the bay where we let the distraction took place, were they putting those on his place. Probably a new delivery and we decided to take them." I remembered the words of the Trooper. "Agent Kallus, the rebels have been spotted in bay eight. They are trying to get away with the cargo of new weapons that just has been delivered."

Kanan climbed up the ladder, probably went to Hera to tell her how it went.

"What's in it?" Zeb asked and I lifted the lid of one of the crates.

"No idea really." Sabine leaned over my shoulder to see it. She had taken off her helmet, revealing her blue colored locks. I still was not really accustomed to her new hair color. "Let's see." I stepped aside so she could see it. Sabine had made a lot of designs in the period of her rehabilitation of her blaster shot. In fact it were hundreds of armor designs. Our whole room had been filled with papers and finally she had given it a whole new turn. It was a little more to less the same, but in different colors. Her full blue hair were the biggest change. She had also offered to do my hair, but I had refused. And what would she been able to begin with my wild frizzle hair?

I whistled when Sabine took out the contents. E-11 blaster, like the once the bucketheads use. "Well, well it looks like they are in need of new blasters."

"I'll let Kanan know. Search the other." Sabine climbed after Kanan.

Zeb and I searched the crates as Sabine had said. Again a thought of Ezra came up. A sigh escaped me.

"Again thinking about him?" Zeb looked at me with concern. On missions, I gave myself completely. Then it looked like every bit of my depression had disappeared, but soon after the disappearance of all the adrenaline ...

I nodded, even though he already knew the answer. "We all miss him Maia."

"I know. It's just ... " I swallowed my tears away. Zeb gave me a sad smile and then he left me alone.

Alone with my grief and thoughts.

Meanwhile, it had been almost 19 months since that unfortunate day. In the time that had past, I had grown two years older. That one day had taken place two weeks before my birthday. Empire Day was yesterday. So currently I was 16, Ezra 17 and I never had knew how old every members of the Ghost crew were each.

The first weeks I had refuse to come out of my room which I shared with Sabine and had cried nonstop. I had given my tears the free run. At one point it had seemed that I had been out of tears, because at that point the flood of tears had stopped. From then on I had just lay curled up on the bed sobbing with my red swollen eyes, but without even a single tear sliding down my cheek.

And that was actually still the only thing how I spend my time currently. The only respite was the missions and training. Nothing else.

"Maia we are being expected. Are you coming along?" Sounded Hera's voice through the cargo space.

"Coming Hera." Finally, I climbed the ladder at last one.

---------------time skip----------------

We had us gathered in the briefing room of the mother ship. Commander Sato asked us how the mission had gone as he did every time since we had joined the fleet. Hera had concealed it even for Kanan, what he didn't seemed to like so much. This whole thing, he didn't really like, but it was our best chance as Hera had said. I had already knew about it for some time, but very little. One time I even had been on the ship with Jonathan before...

Before Ezra had killed him.

That Fulcrum the Jedi Ahsoka Tano was, was for me also a surprise and it was thanks to her that Kanan had started to train me. Beside the fact that I am often still shot at by the new rebels when they see my red saber, it was very nice.

"Specter 7, may we have the decoder?"

Oh right almost forgotten.

I fished it out of my pocket where I had stuffed it in and gave it to Sato who put the disk in the big projector. Immediately the information appeared.

At first sight it didn't look so promising: a lot about the troop transport, investment, supply of weapons were they appeared to have a short off, we discovered.

"When Kallus came he put some new information on it, received from Lord Vader himself." Everyone turned to me at the sound of the Sith Lord's name, who we encountered once. Luckily we were able to escape. We were lucky back then. "He said something about two new he was going to send after someone because the last two appeared to have failed like before."

"Do you know who they are after?" Ahsoka asked the question. I looked toward her and nodded. "I'm afraid so." My suspected was confirmed when I opened the last unopened file for the first time. Immediately the screen was filled with camera images where a figure was depicted. We could not see who it was, but for that I had taken something with me. But first I looked at the rest of information we had received during the mission. It was about different Inquisitors and he had already lost a whole section so to see. There were reports written about how the bodies of the seven Inquisitors were recovered. Hung, riddled with blaster shots, beheaded and many other and far worse ways. On one wall was even a message found: Come on, Vader! Is this all you got? That can better! -P. & T.

"Maia, are you going to say who?" Zeb didn't seem to know who I was talking about so I took the wanted poster. Still folded, I threw it on the table. Kanan was the one to unfolded him.

"We are no longer the only one chasing him." Again I swallowed back tears when I looked at that face. At those eyes that I had love so much and were I had love to drowned in, but in those you were doomed to stay forever, swallowed up by the darkness.

Of Ezra's electric blue eyes full of life was no trace. Two full black hole had swallowed even every bit of white.

"Ezra is further gone than we thought."
