Chapter 4: The Dream
(Ezra pov)
(Unconscious)
Vision:
I'm walking in a field in Lothal. The grass swishes at my ankles and I'm wearing my orange jumpsuit. My lightsaber is gone, but I have my energy slingshot.
I glance around me at my surroundings and see Kanan off to my right, well and unharmed. Alive.
"Kanan!" I cry in joy and run towards him. But just as I reach out a hand for him, he disappears. "Kanan!"
I hear a laugh behind me. I turn around to see the Inquisitor, laughing cruelly. "Your Master is dead, boy. Have you forgotten?"
"Leave me alone!" I shout.
"But you don't have to die with him. All you have to do is join us," he holds out his hand invitingly. "Join the Empire, and you can be with your parents. With your brother."
"No! Never! Wait, Jai?" I ask, suddenly alarmed by the cold washing over me. I rub my arms. "Where is he?"
"See for yourself," he says and steps aside, revealing Jai, with eery, glowing yellow eyes and holding a red lightsaber. He throws it at me.
"Jai!" I cry as I twist out of the way of the blade. "What are you doing?"
Then Jai disappears too, his lightsaber falling to the ground and landing softly in the grass behind me, leaving me alone with the Inquisitor. My enemy walks towards me, lightsaber glowing in his palm. I want to run, but am unable to move. The Inquisitor stands above me, towering over me.
"No," I whisper. "No."
"Join me. Become my apprentice," he urges. The field is gone, all I see is the Inquisitor-and the darkness. "With me, you will be able to reach your full potential and unleash your raw power. You can become the most powerful Sith ever."
'No!' My mind screams. 'Jedi don't care about power! They only care about helping others! No, Ezra! Don't do this!' But my body ignores my thoughts, and as the Inquisitor stretches out his hand again, lets the darkness fill it. I take the Inquisitor's hand-
-and wake up screaming.
