Kanan and Ezra were pinned behind their cover from the stormtroopers trying to capture them. "When can you get here?!" Kanan shouted over the battle noise.

"Hang on! Tie-fighters on my tail! Ahh! Sabine man the canon! Sorry I might be late!" Hera yelled over the comm. Kanan let out a frustrated sigh and continued to blast more troopers.

"Hera might be a little late so keep blasting!" Kanan shouted to Ezra.

"No, I thought we could all go dancing and have tea together!" Ezra yelled sarcastically, he was blasting bucketheads with his lightsaber blaster.

"Well at least she might be a little late not alot!" Kanan shouted, he shot another trooper in the head.

"Define a little!" Ezra shouted back, he blasted a stormtrooper and blasted another trying to get close.

"Five minuets?! I don't know!" Kanan shouted back, he shot another and sniped one hiding behind a tree.

"My definition of five minuets is alot different from hers!" Ezra yelled, he swiped his leg underneath a trooper and blasted him who got way to close to them.

They got rid of them and waited for Hera to come until they sensed another wave incoming.

Kanan grabbed Ezra by the shoulders and looked him straight in the eye, "When Hera gets here, I want you to run with them and make sure you guys get out, ok?" Kanan asked sternly.

Ezra's eyes widened in shock, "And how can you stop an army of stormtroopers and expect me to leave you?!" Ezra shouted at him.

"I'm a Jedi-" Kanan started saying but was cut off, "And I'm a Jedi! And that means I'm not leaving you cause Jedi protect!" Ezra shouted at him.

"Ezra I want you to leave and get the others out of here, I'm sorry and I wish I didn't have to say this," Kanan said.

Ezra shook his head fiercely, "No! I lost my parents and I'm not about to loose you either!" He said to Kanan determine and scared with tears threatening to come.

"Ezra, if you stay with me you are going to die here with me!" Kanan shouted at him trying to make him understand.

"Then at least I'm dying here with you!" Ezra yelled.

Kanan stood there shocked, Ezra had tears in his eyes and said, "I watched my parents be taken away from me and I'm not about to have that happen again." Ezra had tears streaming down his face and hugged Kanan fiercely and Kanan hugged him back.

Ezra buried his face in the crook of Kanan's neck and cried, "I love you, Dad."

Kanan had tears in his eyes and cried out, "I love you too, my son."

It killed them saying goodbye like this but Kanan remembered, "This isn't goodbye, I will see you in the force and we'll see each other again, I promise Ezra, I promise you this and I don't regret taking you in and loving you because you are my son, I love you Ezra," Kanan said, he held Ezra's face between his hands to look at him so he could say this face to face and each second killed him telling his son this is his death and already seeing him on the other side.

"I love you too Kanan, bigger than the sky?" Ezra asked with a small knowing smile. He had tears streaming down his face and sniffled.

Kanan let out a loose shakey laugh and smiled, "That's right, bigger than the sky," He said. He sniffled and tears streamed down his face.

Ezra hugged Kanan once more before they had to let go, they wiped their faces and stood firm.

As soon as they did that they saw Hera flying above and blast the second wave of stormtroopers away.

Hera hovered the ship near them and they both jumped in. They closed the hatch and saw Chopper there to greet them.

"Chop, tell Hera that were going to be skipping dinner and that me and Ezra are going to bed early."

Chopper beeped and strolled away to tell Hera. Kanan walked with Ezra to his room and closed his door when they walked in.

Kanan laid down and Ezra crawled in after, Kanan wrapped his arms around Ezra and Ezra snuggled into Kanan.

No one spoke of what happened, because they knew they would do it again for each other next time and more after that.
