Pain and Nightmares Fade
"It's hard," The clone said sitting on the couch with his knees against his chest.
"To remember?" Asked a voice from a man who sat across from him.
"To forget. Every time I close my eyes...I see it and hear it. I see all the fire, the blood, and I hear all the screaming." The clone said clenching his fists.
"Pain and nightmares do fade but it takes time." The man said calmly to him.
"I saw my brothers get ripped apart by a monster, I got burnt and left for dead by him." He snapped feeling his burn wound lightly. He then sighs and falls back deeper into the couch. "Dose it really fade?" He asks in a small voice.
"Yes all scars heal. Yes, it takes time but they do heal. You can move on, you don't need to be stuck on the past and lost in those memories. Yes they might always hurt but if you keep these with you your whole life they will kill you from the inside." The man said putting down his pad of paper and his pen. The clone was silent and looked at the floor tears came to his eyes but he brushed them away and stood up. "I'm done..." He said as he turned to the door.
"Scorch." The man said stopping the clone before he left. "You can leave but you came to me for help. It's okay to feel pain and emotion, but you don't need to hold on to all the pain, fear and hate. It's killing you that you are keeping it locked inside you."
"...it's how I fight." Scorch said slowly. "It's what keeps me going...if I let it go what will?" He asked.
"That's for you to find out," The man said looking at him. "No one can tell you what drives you."
Scorch sighs and sits back down. "I don't know anymore...I just have no clue what do to. I keep fighting....but I drink a lot. I then just become numb...but I am tried of that. I want to feel something again..." Scorch said.
"But your stopping yourself from feeling anything but pain?" He asked.
"I guess," Scorch said picking at a loss thread on the couch.
"Why do you think that is?" He asked.
"Your the therapist." Scorch said folding his arms and falling back against the couch.
"Yes. But I am not you. Only you can only truly know what's going through you. I am just a guide to help with mental healing." He said looking at Scorch who sighed and said, "I guess since it's what keeps me and I don't want to forget what happened."
"Do you know why you don't want to forget? Since you can, it's okay to let it go." He said.
"I think...I feel if I let it go then I will have nothing to fight for and that if I forget that no one will remember it." Scorch said.
"Scorch. Everyone who fought on Umbra will remember that day for the rest of their lives and you don't have to forget but you need to learn that you can live with it and move on from the death and pain." He said he then looked at the time and sighs. "Where done for today. But next week we'll defiantly pick this back up." Scorch nods and stands up he then walks to the door but stops. "Thank you." He says quietly before leaving the room. He sighs as he walks out of the building and heads back to the base he was stained on. No one knew he was seeing a therapist for help. But he needed this it was to hard to deal with all the memories and the nightmares. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a silver flask and took a drink but it was short. He stopped and put it away. He closed his eyes and a few tears came to his eyes.
'People cry not because they have been weak.
It's because they have been strong for too long.'
