The Ancient Planet of Illum

I sat quietly in my room, deep thoughts coursing through my head. I feared the last of the kyber crystals were gone, but there was one last place I could look. It was risky, I knew, but I had to try. Any last crystal I could find was equally as important. I couldn't let anything bad to happen to them, like get into the Empire's hands. The door slid open and Tooka stood there holding a data pad in his hand.

"What is it?" I asked noticing his expression. I couldn't tell if it was one of excitement or concern.

"You know this datapad intercepts Empire communications, right?" he replied excitedly.

"Well, yes." After all, I had set it up myself.

"Well I was monitoring what the Empire was sending and I came across something you should find interesting," he said, handing the datapad to me.

I took it and scrolled through the message. I noticed it was sent recently and its contents startled me. It read:

The Emperor has ordered that a large cargo be retrieved from ~~~~~ and sent to Geonosis to begin production on the ~~~~~ ~~~~.

The message was partly encrypted and I couldn't make out most of it. I sat back against the wall completely stumped.

"Large cargo? From where? And going to Geonosis? What's that supposed to mean? And worst of all, what could they possibly be working on??" I asked, both frustrated and confused.

"I don't know," Tooka replied. "But I'm sure you'll figure it out. After all, you're Estrella."

I snorted but didn't say anything. "Well," I mused. "If we don't know where it's coming from, then we can't possibly know what it is. But I think I have an idea..."

I started going back to my previous thoughts and realized there might be a connection between my plan and the message the Empire beamed out.

Tooka got impatient. "Umm... hello? Estrella? What's the plan?"

I snapped back to reality. "Oh sorry. We're going to take a field trip."

And with that, I walked past him and out of my room heading to the cockpit.

"But... wait! Where are we going??" Tooka cried, trying to catch up to me.

"You'll see!" I called back, sitting in the chair.

I heard Tooka groan in the hallway as he walked up. He took his usual seat and waited for me to fire up the ship.

"Okay, first lesson about the place where we're going: you have to open yourself and let it guide you to it," I told him, quieting my mind.

"It's not on any maps or anything?" Tooka asked, still more confused at my behavior.

"Nope," I replied. "Now quiet your mind and reach out your senses. It will come to you."

Tooka closed his eyes and relaxed. I did, however, leave out one tiny detail. In order to find the planet, you have to utter its name silently as well as reach out to it with your senses. Only then are you able to find it.

"I- I can't find it," Tooka said, but I barely heard him.

Using my Force senses, I reached out to the planet imagining its surface and the cave that I know is there. Gradually, the image zoomed out farther and farther first showing the area around the place then the surface of the planet. Finally, the planet revealed its location, and my eyes flew open.

"I know where it is," I whispered.

Tooka looked at me quizzically. "You what...?"

"I know where it is!" I replied, louder this time.

I lurched forward in my chair and put in the coordinates I was given. In the blink of an eye, the familiar blue light washed over the ship. I did a sigh of relief once I settled back into my chair. I was secretly glad Tooka wasn't force-sensitive because he wouldn't have an even greater target on his back than before. It's bad enough he's with me, force sensitiveness just makes it a whole lot worse.

I glanced over at Tooka. He was relaxing in his chair and turned his head when I looked at him. I gave him a smile and he smiled back.

As soon as we emerged from hyperspace, I flew us to the planet's white, snowy surface. We landed a ways away from the temple and I got out of my seat to grab a warm coat.

"Put this on," I instructed and tossed it toward him.

He caught it and put it on. "May I ask why I need this?" he asked showing that the coat was clearly a little big and very warm.

"Do you really want to freeze to death?" I laughed pointedly while putting mine on.

"Okay, okay I see your point," he replied and followed me down the ship's ramp into the blowing cold.

The snow seemed to be rushing in on all sides pushing us in all different directions. After walking for forever, we finally reached the massive high towering sheets of ice that concealed the entrance to the temple. I stepped up to the massive carved circle in the ice and brushed the snow off it.

"It's a dead end!" Tooka yelled through the howling storm.

"No, it's not!" I yelled back. "Just focus closely!"

Tooka desperately tried to see through the storm but wasn't focusing. Standing back up, I slowly quieted my mind and reached my hand out, closing my eyes, blocking the storm.

Suddenly, the storm, the howling wind, the snow, Tooka's cries of despair all melted away like the sheets of ice that started to crack and fall. The immense calm that surrounded me seemed to only grow as the ice covering the entrance fell around it, revealing a massive carved opening in the middle in the cliff face. When the ice fell, an incredible force pushed the storm back and it died instantly almost freezing it in place.

My eyes fluttered open and took in the image before me. I sighed deeply and trudged forward not realizing Tooka was still with me. He stood as frozen as the landscape, in complete awe of it. Seeing me trudge forward alone, he ran up in front and stopped me.

"Wait," Tooka said and put his hands up. "There's something you're not telling me. What is this place really and who are you?"

"I'm sorry Tooka, but-" I started to say.

"No!" Tooka cried. "No! Don't tell me you can't say! You trust me don't you?? So why can't you tell me this??"

I sighed. He was right, I do trust him. "I'm a Jedi," I blurted. "I'm a Jedi, and this planet... this planet holds the last of the kyber crystals."
