Chapter 6: Orders
Kylo Ren was numb. He was in disbelief that he had just been visited by his grandfather, Anakin, as a Force ghost. Followed by a Force connection session with Rey. A session, thought Kylo. I'm beginning to treat it like a normal routine. A knock erupted on his door. "Supreme Leader Ren! We have landed at Memir. You are needed in the main control room."
Kylo stood up, took his cape from the service droid, and grabbed his lightsaber. Why won't she join me? Kylo thought to himself as he exited his quarters. I will have to defeat Snoke myself then. He strode quickly to the main control room, only to be greeted by Hux. "Supreme Leader, we are currently refueling the command shuttle."
"Any word of the Resistance?" Kylo asked. He stood across from Hux, only separated by a control panel.
"Actually, yes. Because of the message we broadcasted to our contacts all across the galaxy, we received a response from a man on Gorem. He told us that the Resistance touched down earlier today and are staying at an old Imperial base located in the side of a mountain."
"An old Imperial base. What a clever place to hide. Good work, Hux."
"Excuse me?"
"I said good work." A compliment from Kylo was a rarity, it was even rarer being directed toward Hux.
"What are our next steps?" Hux asked.
"Excuse me," a female officer interrupted, "We are finished refueling and will be taking off shortly.
Kylo nodded at her to be dismissed. She scurried away quickly.
"Hux, I want you to be in charge of the operation. Take all of our Star Destroyers. Bring TIE fighters, whatever you like," said Kylo.
"Me?"
"You heard me correctly," hissed Kylo. "I have other extremely important business to attend to. I want my TIE fighter prepared for take-off immediately. And I will want word of the battle. I only expect success."
"Yes, Supreme Leader. What an honor," Hux replied, sporting a smile, cold nonetheless.
Kylo started turned to leave but stopped.
"One more thing, Hux. Actually, make that two. Take the Destroyers, but make the battle fun if you want to. You can't exactly blow up the base itself, so you may have to go inside. Also, you must find the girl. Rey. And keep her as a prisoner."
Hux sniffed. "I know how battles work, Supreme Leader."
"Watch how you speak around me Hux," Kylo snapped back, restraining himself from using the Force.
"Yes, Supreme Leader."
Kylo marched off to board his TIE fighter. He hoped that he would never see Hux again. He wanted him killed in the battle. And the Resistance. Two birds killed with one stone.
Instead of going directly to where his TIE fighter was located, Kylo turned down a side hallway of his command shuttle. He walked a ways and stopped in front of a menacing metal door. He punched in a few numbers only he knew into a pad next to door and it slid open. He stepped in.
"It's time."
Across from Kylo stood six men, all dressed in different variations of black armor from head to toe. Some had capes, and they all had masks. They were in a row, attentive, each holding their own weapon. One had some sort of blaster variation, while another held a long spear. The other four had their own weapons also.
"Knights of Ren, it it time for you to come with me. From the time I took you and raised you in the ways of the dark side to now, you have served me well. Now come. Snoke is alive. You will come with me to Rengurar. I will face Snoke myself, but you will be responsible for taking down any guards he might have. If you want your master to remain as the Supreme Leader, follow me."
"Yes Master Ren," they said in unison, their voices muffled by the black masks they wore, each mask unique.
Kylo started making his way to his TIE fighter. He listened to the thump of boots as his Knights followed behind him. Any officials in the hallway scattered, afraid to even look at the group. Kylo only used his Knights for special purposes. He smiled. I can't believe they are the same young boys I took from Ahch-to. My Knights have become so powerful. Who needs help from some girl when you have six men who only take orders from you?
This changed Kylo's train of thought. Rey. I wish she would join me. It's too bad she's missing out. She would be a great ally. Kylo drew nearer to his destination and shut down what he was thinking about. He marched over to his TIE fighter, waving off attendants with a flick of his hand.
Kylo stepped into his TIE fighter and glanced back to make sure his knights were entering their own special transport. A husky voice broke through his intercom. "Ready to go, Master Ren."
Kylo turned on the ignition, lifted off, and exited the hangar. His Knights followed close behind.
Time to kill Snoke once and for all.
