"Where?
Where is she?" I asked hurriedly. Every breath seemed rushed as my heart frantically beat its way out my chest.
Luke stood firmly against the sudden wind that blew in dark clouds from the east. A storm was coming.
My lips flattened into a firm line as my brows furrowed tightly in concern. How much would a storm interfere with the fleets radar controls? I had no clue if it would have any effect at all but my mind began to throw bad situations at me to see if I could solve them all.
Luke's eyes seemed clouded over by an invisible anomaly. His hand slowly rose to his robed chest and clutched the spot over his heart. "I'm not sure-" he grunted, looking for a place to sit. I guided him to a nearby stone. "But she's in trouble. He's with her."
"Damn it!" I yelled, shoving my steel toed boot into a nearby chunk of soil. Sending specks of dirt sailing into the air.
"Where?" I rudely demanded, my lip puckering out from under my teeth that continued to bite the inside of my mouth. "Luke we have to find her! She could be dying as we speak!"
"She has to fend for herself for now." He replied gravely, stabilizing himself with his hands pressed against his knees as he stands.
I let out a stressed breath through my nostrils as I squeeze the bridge of my nose, clenching my teeth. "Why?"
Luke closed his eyes and rubbed circles into them slowly. "Snoke...he's here."

REY & KYLO REN
Rain falls in crazy chaotic drops, the gusting wind carrying them in wild vortices one moment and in diagonal sheets the next. It runs down Kira's face as a thin layer, chilling her cheek bones. It all falls as if it meant to wash us away. It sounds like great monsters are knocking on their door, roof, and walls. Today is a day of inescapable wetness, even as Kira sits to watch the downpour errant drops fall from behind the open front door of the small hut that was assigned to her and Ben.
'Where was he? He said he would meet me here,' she thought.
Lightning came, a brilliant shock of white in the inky, graphite sky, forking silently to the unsuspecting ground - the thunderous boom always calling its warning too late. She flinched backward. Another followed, but this one flickered and seemingly died but soon the expected boom came. Letting out a disappointed sigh, she adjusted her knees and slowly rose to stand by the door. A gust of wind bellowed through the wide open threshold, throwing a sheet of rain her way. Squeaking in fear she rushed to the door against the wall and hurried it closed. These small huts didn't have locks so she had to brace the door with her small figure. The cold, wet door pushed against the skin of her arms as the wind banged its angry fist against it. Goose bumps rose on her arms and legs.
"Go away!" Kira's small voice yelled to the wind, puckering her lips in irritation.
'I need Ben, I'm not strong enough all by myself.'
With her back bracing the door, her eyes scoured their living space, particularly Ben's side of the room. The girl's gaze fell upon his favorite holo-script that laid across his unmade bed. With her small feet, she gingerly hopped over his red and white sheets that were sprawled on the floor, giggling all the way as if it were all a fun game. Her nimble fingers took the holo-script and hid it under her bed's pillow. She giggled at her own cleverness and sat on her bed and waited for him, the coy smile gradually fading as minutes turned to hours without his arrival. Night had fallen. Every time the wind would call, thinking it was him she would answer, but the door remained the same. Unmoving.
Kira began to let fear into her heart. Her thoughts started to run wild, wondering if something had happened to him if he got caught in the storm and the wind flew him off a cliff, what if father yelled at him again? And he was too forlorn to come and see her? She sat in silence.
Kira's features suddenly changed from boredom to confusion as she tilted her chin up to bring her gaze from her booted feet back to the door. It remained shut, but outside she thought she heard a cry. A bird, perhaps? She thought. 'What would a birdie be doing out in this rain? He could get hurt.' She frowned at the thought.
Another. She couldn't have mistaken it this time, could she? Kira hopped off of the hard bed and took a slow step towards the door.
"Aahhh!" A girl's tattered scream ripped through the air. The rain beat down harder, muffling the sound as if on purpose. Her eyes widened from shock and yes, fear. Another, then another! Lightsabers could be heard nearby, the familiar sound almost brought comfort, but the screams of anguish that followed tore through her. Kira's heart began to beat out of her chest through her ears as the sound of heavy boots crunched the gravel outside. Her mouth parted in a gasp as she stepped back, leaning against the bed. The loud crash of lightning struck once more, flashing light all around the rims and cracks of the door. The shadow of boots could be seen standing directly outside of it.
Kira almost yelled for help until the handle began to dip downwards. Her breath caught in her throat. The paralyzing hurt spread through her body like icy, liquid metal. She clenched her fists as she hesitantly took each step. Kira noticed her feet tremble. Her legs twitched, fighting the impulse to sprint forward and whirl open the damp door just to see who it was; her throat closed in threat of screaming and her jaw became tight. Fire in the form of water stung her nut-brown eyes, she rapidly blinked as time began to speed back up. Realizing her frozen state, Kira swiftly laid on the floor and silently whirled under her bed. The door of her hut began to screech as it was almost opened. In a last attempt to conceal herself, she reached out and rapidly grasped one of Ben's sheets, bringing it up to cover her face and wash away her fears with his familiar scent.
There she hid. In the darkness of her room as a dark presence entered. The Force whispered in her ears, warning her of danger, that death loomed before her. She began to cry, her arms clutching Ben's sheet and sniffling into it softly. She began to tremble as fearful tremors rocked her small form against the wooden floor.
The large looming figure entered the room quietly as if not to disturb a sleeping form. The sound of boots crunching the gravel that layout of the door still carried on. Many people, five, six? Kira couldn't pay that close attention. Her fingers began to hurt from holding the sheet so tightly, but she didn't care.
Creak...
A boot fell directly in front of her, she could feel it. Finally gaining the courage, she moved the sheet slightly to peer over at the feet of the intruder. From under the bed, she could see thick black boots, covered with shiny droplets of water. Suddenly remembering the rain that hissed outside. The intruder was wearing a cloak of some sort. It reached It's ankles and was soaked through, continuously dropping water as it moved with the body it clung to.
Kira's breath hitched as it came to a step closer to the bed. How long has it been since It has entered? She couldn't remember. All she could think about was her silent attempts to calm her beating heart for in fear It could hear it's loud thumps.
A low growl erupted from the intruder and Kira's blood froze over. It sounded like a droid, but not like Artoo. Like the monsters father would tell us tales about. A scream resided outside, it was a boy, he sounded like he was in too much pain to even fathom. Tears began to pour out from her eyes and dribble down her cheeks in fat drops. Her mind once again began to think of the absolute worst, 'what if the intruders killed Ben!' Kira was beyond frightened, she thought she would die right then and there. The intruder flinched and left swiftly through the door, almost gently closing it behind him. Yes, it was definitely a man. The thunderous boots stomped and crunched their way across the small courtyard and faded off into the hush of the rainstorm.
After he left, Kira finally lets out her cries. Tears continued to stream down her face as her mouth opened into a wide frown. She let the clear fluids drip from her eyes and nose into the sheet she used as a comfort object. 'Oh Ben, please be alive.' She repeated over and over in her head as if it were a prayer, a plea.
Suddenly, her cries were interrupted by the door cracking and flying open to reveal a pair of old tattered fabric shoes. A wave of the Force comforted her, it was a warm embrace as well as it shooed away the cold fear that once overtook her.
The figure stood there, breathing heavily before it spoke. "Kira?" It hissed in hushed tones.
Silence followed. Well, except for the rain of course, ever loud. "Kira?" The voice called out again, the poor man sounded as if he were about to cry.
"L-Luke?" Kira's voice was small, it shook slightly and could barely be heard. But he had heard, he loved that little voice and was all that kept him tied down to his sanity.
"Kira!" He whispered excitedly and bent down in a rush and before she knew it, Kira was being cradled in his arms, hugging him tightly. Luke breathed heavily, fanning Kira's face with his cold breaths. He gently brushed her hair that covered her eyes aside and placed a chapped, firm kiss on her slick forehead. The hairs of his neatly trimmed beard scratched at her skin as she let out a shaky laugh.
"You came." She smiled softly into his robes. Somehow her mind blocked out a residual sound except for his heart beat. The rain, the screams, her own beating heart, it all went silent. It seemed like any other day on the island. But it's not. This was a siege, and they were going to lose.
Suddenly everything came flooding back. The sounds the smells and most of all, the fear. "Luke! What's happening? Where's Ben? He was supposed to meet me here! We have to wait until he comes!" Luke pushed her to her feet and held her by her shoulders firmly.
"No." He said sternly now; "Listen to me, Kira. We must leave, a ship is waiting for us at the launch pad by Twin Rocks, do you remember where that is?" He looked directly into her warm brown eyes, her mouth agape in shock.
"Yes but-"
"Quickly." He stood and prodded her towards the open door where a wall of rain was ready to greet her with open arms. Kira stepped back slightly, bumping into Luke's knees in the process. She peered up at him through the darkness, "but- what about Ben?"
Luke stayed silent with his lips set into an ugly frown and pushed Kira through the door and into the rain. Her clothes and hair were instantly soaked as well as her small boots. She sunk slightly into the muddy gravel, attempting to lift her feet, leaving a small puddle in the shape of her print. Thunder rolled across the midnight sky, lightning flashed above the clouds casting small shadows over the jagged rocks that surrounded the huts. Some of the houses were crumbling from the pressure. Doors were kicked in and black burn marks covered the rocks surrounding them. Kira gasped and clutched Luke's robe, her hand raising to her mouth slightly in shock. One of the huts doors was open wide, Kira's gaze lowered to the hand that was visibly open and followed down the pale, lifeless arm to soaked blonde hair and a bleeding head. The scarlet liquid was quickly being washed away by the rain but it was still noticeable.
"Turn away, Kira!" Luke shouted down to her over the rain and thunder. She heard him but didn't comprehend his words. Her eyes couldn't leave the dead body, no matter how far away it was. "Kira! We have to go!" Luke roughly grabbed her thin arm and dragged her across the courtyard.
"Run Kira!" Luke was behind her now. The crackling activation of a lightsaber drew her sprint to a halt. She turned her head to look over her shoulder, tendrils of soaking wet hair flying as she did so. Luke swung first at the man coated heavily in armor and adorned a terrifying helmet. They each aimed for the kill but Kira never waited to see who had succeeded. She needed to run, and besides, she already had the courage and faith to know who would win that battle.
The scream tore through Kira like a great shard of glass. She felt her eyes widen and pulse quicken, her heart thudding like a rock rattling in a box. The scream came again, desperate, terrified... human. The blood drained from my face before she was even aware of making a conscious decision her legs were pounding furiously on the uneven muddy track, ears straining for more sounds, more clues as to where it had come from. Kira had no clue as to what she'd do when she got there, just that she had to get there, fast. The Twin Rocks, they were finally in view. She could see the flashing artificial light from Luke's ship.
Kira turned her head following her ears direction to look at the root of the scream, the horror almost caused her to trip face first into the dirt. Her sounds of pain faded into the loud background, choking on her own bile, spitting into the mix of mud and water at her feet. A man with a rimmed disc atop his head, adorned with a thick set of armor and armed with a spear, thrusted his weapon through a woman's chest. On her knees, you could see the life draining from her eyes and her hands as they slowly fell from her begging stance and to the ground with the rest of her body. Her head slumped downward to her chest and blended with the mud that began to consume her whole.
"Ah!" Kira's throat scratched over the downpour. She stood in the middle of the courtyard, alone with this man, this murderer. Monster. The fear from earlier quickly stung its way back into her system as he turned to face her, somehow hearing her over the roaring thunder. 'Did he use the Force?' She asked herself. It didn't matter.
A hard ball bounced up into her throat, blocking the air flow. Kira's hands flew up to her throat, letting out a fit of raspy coughs as she tried to back away, run, anything! But she stood paralyzed. He was almost upon her now, raising his staff, ready to strike a final blow. Kira peered behind him at the girl's body that laid in a wet heap on the ground, being drowned in muddy water. 'Was that how she would end?' She pondered on the awful thought for a moment as the man before she was just about to end her young life. Her last breath would be heaved as a hole through her chest would slowly relinquish the second's life she had left. Kira closed her eyes, her head growing light, and fell to the ground, her back hitting flat into the gushy mess below her.
Vvzzzmmmmm...crack!
Kira's eyes flew open after the sound of a lightsaber being drawn. A bright, fiery red lightsaber sparked to life through the man's body. It sang a deathly song and spat fire as it protruded through his chest, just as he was about to do to her. He choked on the air for a quick moment before the saber was ripped from him and he fell like a stack of uneven stones, toppling to the ground. The heat of the lightsaber still warmed Kira's face as it remained lit and crackling. Her gaze followed suit to the hand that held such a dangerous and terrifying weapon, then finally to the face. Or the mask of an unrecognizable creature. The sheen of the saber reflected off of the metal of this new man's helmet piece. His shoulders were hunched over, he was wearing thick, black boots and black robes all held together by a black belt that latched over his waist. His bald-headed helmet only showed whenever lightning decided to let Kira take in more of her deadly savior's appearance. Her eyes scanned the boots and robe once more. Familiarity lit up in her brown eyes. The intruder.
"You!" She cried, her eyes tipping downward as well as her frown. The rain hid her tears as they streamed down her shiny cheeks. She screamed as he took a heavy step forward, his feet splashing her face with mud. Kira quickly crawled backward, trying to put as much space between them as possible.
"Kira!" The monster yelled in her direction but it felt as if he were speaking to someone else. She could've wondered many things, like if her best friend that she loved was dead or not if this man had killed him? How did he know her name? Or if Luke was still alive? He had to be. But all she could really think about was; run!
Kira sprung to her feet, whipping around to sprint towards Twin Rocks where Luke's ship still sat, ready to take off. But when she tried to take her first step forward, she froze. Not willingly of course but she soon found it impossible to move. It felt as if she was at the receiving end of polar magnets, just ripping her apart from the inside. Her skin tingled from head to toe, her throat tightening from fear or the sheer power of the Force, she had no idea.
Kira let out a few grunts of struggle as the armored, black creature approached. In no time he was right on top of her. He was significantly taller but still shorter than her earlier attacker. Her eyes bulged as he lifted his hand and rested it on top of her head, trailing it down her soaking hair and gently tussled the ends with his gloved fingers. It sent shivers racing down her spine, it burned down her back causing her to wince.
"It's me, Kira." He spoke softly, almost sorrowfully. His voice was altered but it rang another familiar bell. A bell so loud it felt like Kira's skull would crack from the mere pressure. Pain reverberated within her mind, subsiding then returning with even greater force than before.
"No!" She yelled back at him, closing her eyes and tried to stomp on his feet, hit him, scream, do anything!
"Yes." He said cooly.
"You killed him! You killed my best friend!" Kira's screams pierced Ben's heart straight through with probably more force than an actual lightsaber could do. In a way she was right. Ben was dead. He didn't know how to explain himself to her, but he felt the need to. She was so young, so untouched, so innocent from the violence of the dark side. That was, until tonight.
"Come with me." He demanded at last. Releasing her paralyzed position and gripped arm harder than he had ever done and dragged her across the courtyard away from the direction of Luke's ship. Ben deactivated his lightsaber to free his hand from the duty and attatched the hilt to his belt. Kira's eyes were wide and fearful, her mind couldn't fully comprehend what was happening, but it could understand enough to know that this was wrong. Without another thought she dug her heels into the muddy soil, leaving trails like a farmers plow. Ben noticed the extra drag and turned his head to looked down at her struggle.
With no hesitation, he stopped, bent down and scooped her up in his arms. She wiggled and yelled as he held her against him. 'Please stop.' Ben begged internally. Snoke told him to bring her unharmed, at this rate he could feel in the pit of his stomach something terribly wrong was about to occur.
"Ben!" A deep voice raging out over the chaotic buzz of the rain. Kira froze in his arms, laying still and quiet. Ben almost wanted to take this opportunity to break out into a trudging sprint while he still could. Slowly, Ben turned, one step then another, until he faced the old man he came to despise.
"Let her go." He demanded gravely. His face was as serious as ever, his lips set into a deep line. Even from where Ben stood he could see the aging wrinkles around his eyes and forehead, as the wind blew his hair aside. In his hand, he held his lightsaber but in the other, he held another metallic cylinder, it was foreign, but Ben knew what it was.
"No! She needs to come with me!" Ben seethed through his helmet, teeth mashed hard together as he blinked rapidly in frustration. His hands clawed at his lightsaber on his belt, switching Kira, who has gone silent in his arms, to his left arm to be held there. He activated the cross-guard beast of a weapon, it spat and screeched, urging Ben forward like vicious dogs on a leash.
Luke's gaze remained unchanging. Ben almost chuckled, no matter what he did to please or not please, it would never get the slightest reaction from him. In response, Luke activated his own blue saber, then the mysterious green that he held in his other hand.
Rey nuzzled her face deep into the crook of Ben's shoulder, she wanted to be far away from this mess. She was confused and frightened. But in this time of fear, a deep, deathly voice kept calling out to her and soothing her mind over.
Luke took three advancing steps, "you have let me down, son."
Kylo responded with a roar of anger scraping through his throat, " I am not your son!" He screamed. Kira flinched at the harshness in his voice, she was too scared to even breath in fear that might upset him even more.
Silence. The rain kept its steady downfall and the winds whipped, waves crashed violently against the jagged cliff of the island. Luke took another step forward.
"Let Kira go, Ben."
"No!" Ben took a mushy step back, "I can't!"
"Yes. You can." Luke replied evenly as he continued to advance further across the courtyard, lightsaber still buzzing.
"My master would be pleased if I brought her to him! That is exactly what I am to do!"
"You are misguided, child!" Luke yelled, beginning to grow angry himself. "Is it that you want to appease your master? Or drag her down with you to please your own selfishness?"
Without Ben's rage, he treats him as the carpet on which he walks. With his rage, Ben was trouble best ignored, left alone until signs of submissive behavior are offered. Should he demand acknowledgment of his pain he can expect Luke's counter-rage - the scorn of last resort to put Ben back into his box. Should Ben fail to acquiesce, he can expect the long drawn out "big freeze" in which you demonstrate just how little Luke needed him, that he was optional in his life. All Ben ever wanted was for Luke to give a damn about how he felt, demonstrated that he cared. Instead in Ben's eyes, he took the route of least brain power - ignore, shut down, walk away. And so the hot rage of his soul becomes a cold smolder of suppressed anger; what should have been over quickly becoming a bitter taste that remains.
Yet a piece of his heart broke and tumbled against his rib cage. 'Was he right?' He asked himself, 'no! He wasn't!'
"I know you love her Ben. But there is no room for love down the path you are leading. Only pain." Luke said. Looking at Kira longingly, his sad eyes drooping in the corners slightly.
Ben pointed his saber directly at Luke's chest. "I am not Ben." His voice grew cold, it drove on like the gravel beneath their feet, "Ben is dead. Kylo Ren murdered him." He drawled slowly. Under his helmet his black hair stuck to his skin, drenched with sweat. His heart pounded like the feet of an army, his chest hurt from containing it.
"So be it," Luke replied lowly. De-activating his lightsabers, he attached them back to his belt. Kylo stood confused and distraught, still clutching little Kira to his chest, his arm growing weary from her weight.
"What are you-" he began to question before the wind was knocked from his system with great invisible force projected from his palm that was now outstretched towards him. Kylo let out a grunt as his arms released and his entire body flew back and with a loud smack hit the wall of jagged rocks, blocking the ocean from wreaking havoc upon the island's cliffs.
Kira screamed as she flew from his arms and landed on her side. The mud enveloped her as the hard rain pushed her down further. Grit snaked through her long lashes and stung her eyes repeatedly, she yelped and rubbed her eyes with the butt of her fists over and over.
Kylo lifted his head slightly, if it weren't for the helmet, he would've died from a severe concussion. Although his head did throb, he wasn't dead. He lay sprawled, like the dozens of bodies across the courtyard. He imagines his team waiting for him by the ship, 'call on them for help!' He thought but quickly dismissed the horrid idea, for this was his fight and his alone. He opened his eyes to see Kira squirming in the mud screaming, her hands on her face covering her eyes. Concern flashed through his body as he tried to stand as fast as physically possible without falling back over from nausea.
Luke took his chance and leaped over to Kira, scooping her up in his arms and embracing her tightly as he ran towards his ship.
Lightning flashed a zigzag pattern of white across the sky. Lightning up the courtyard enough for Kylo to see Luke's retreating form. His eyes widened as he staggered to his feet. Once his boots seemed somewhat flat on the ground he trudged after Luke through the darkness.
Kira's eyes blinked rapidly adjusting to the bright light, tears all shed, her cheeks felt tight and raw. Her hands trembled as she tried to hold on to Luke, who was sitting her down in a cot on his ship.
The ramp was still lowered, thunder rolled and lit the muddy path from which he had just come through. Ben- Kylo could be seen stampeding through the rain like a beast ready to impale its prey with brute force.
"Ben..." Kira whimpered as Luke hastily pulled a blanket over her and whipping around to eject his blue lightsaber. It roared to life as he ran down the ramp and clash with Kylo's readied weapon.
Kira could hear the rain as it sizzled against the ear piercing crackle of their lightsaber as they crossed each other. Every time a hit would be made she flinched under the rough blanket that covered her soaking body.
"AHH!" A scream resounded outside of the ship. Blood. Flashes of blood crossed Kira's eyes as she remembered the woman tumbling to the ground and blood spraying the air. Ben's scream reached her delicate ears, she thought she had no tears left, but more began to fall down her pale face.
Heavy breaths could be heard as Luke ran back up the ramp. "Kira-" he breathed hurriedly, "Kira sit up." He demanded urgently. Kira wiped her face and sat up to look into his eyes, waiting diligently for his next words. She didn't know this moment would change her entire life.
Kylo laid once more in the soil, his lightsaber flung feet away from him. His robes were singed and sliced by Luke's saber as well as his arm. It wasn't a full cut but a burn painful enough for him to see colorful spots across his vision. His breaths were coming out too quick for his helmets apparatuses to circulate, his visor fogged up from the pressure. A growl of agitation left his voice changer before he lifted the helmet off completely, taking in the rain filled clouds with his own eyes. He blinked rapidly, trying to avoid the water. His ears suddenly tuned to a voice coming from the ship that sat before his feet.
"Kira, listen to me-" a loud crackle of thunder disturbed Luke's words. Kylo bent his knees to attempt and stand once more. "Focus-" another thunder beat rolled across the sky like a heavy ball.
Kylo stood and dropped his helmet with what he saw. Kira was sitting abnormally straight, her eyes honed in on Luke's with much attention. Luke had his hand in a waving motion in front of her face. Ben realized what he was planning to do, he just couldn't believe Luke would actually brainwash his own daughter.
"You will forget this day, as many before it..."
"NO!" Kylo tried to run but tripped with a sudden pain erupting in his leg. He fell to one knee, yelling from the pain.
Ignoring Ben's cries, Luke continued.
"Only to be remembered once you were ready..." Luke held up his lightsaber and placed it in Kira's small hand.
"STOP!" Kylo desperately pleaded, standing and trying to limp towards the ship.
"You will hide and go by the name that you choose..."
A small silence followed. Making this moment ever so heavy and terrifying to Ben. Tears polished his face more than the rain.
With one last wave of Luke's hand, she dropped like a stone into his arms as he quickly placed her back on the cot.
"NOOOOOOO!" Kylo bellowed out an endless scream as his dreadful gaze met Luke's. Luke returned his hateful gaze with a sad one. The wind whipped their hair in front of their eyes as the rain soaked them to the bone. Luke's ship was already high into the air, the ramp lifting to show Ben the last look of his uncle.
Disappointment.
Ben fell to his knees and screamed. He screamed out his dread, his anguish, his broken heart. His cries of utter rage could only be heard if you listened close enough past the thunder. He screamed until there was nothing left. He had lost.

Another long chapter, oh my goodness. So I decided to name young Rey, Kira, a long time ago because that was her concept name but when they began shooting they decided to change it. Also Kira means queen so I saw that quite fitting.
