Chapter 7

In the dark and musty room of his father's study, Alexis was puzzled and intrigued. His father was strangely mysterious and prophetic. As his father moved in closer, his father opened a box that contained a small object delicately covered in an old folded piece of cloth.

"Listen Alex." His father said, almost in a whisper. "Your time on this planet is short."

"I have all the time I want father, after all, I am in command of my own ship now," said Alexis with stubborn confidence.

"Listen Alex, Listen Carefully." rasped his father. " I wanted to protect you, I wanted you to have a life that you alone can control."

"Yes father, I have no regrets, I don't understand." said Alexis in a confused tone." what do you mean? "

"For too long I have kept you away, For too long I have kept you hidden, protecting you." said his father

"Protecting me from what?" Said Alexis shaken from the impending revelation.

"In time you will understand son, but now, take this" Said his father motioning over the box, the cloth was unfolded and in the eerie darkness, the crystal was shining faintly.

"There is a great unbalance in the Force my Son." gestured his father to the box. "And I fear that the thing I have hidden you from will save you from grave peril."

"Peril? What are you protecting me from?" Alex was now in an extreme state of confusion.

"In time my son, you will understand, Go now," Said his father

"Go wher-" before alexis could completely answer his commlink was beeping.

"Captain, The Ars Moriendi is engaged, .." Said the voice of Lieutenant Sy Whifield.

"Father, I must go, I will return after this," Alexis said to his father clutching the box with the mysterious crystal.

"I'm afraid my son that your journey is just beginning, we shall meet again when the force wills it, may the force be with you." Said his father

Alexis wanted to respond but his commlink was beeping again and he could hear his lambda shuttle barreling towards him from a distance and with a teary eye, hug his father, bid his mother goodbye and ran out of the door.
