Chapter Four~ Arguments And Choices
Wow! I actually updated! Yay! I'm kinda running out of ideas for this.... Y'all really want me to continue?
They're old friends of the Republic. Hera's words echoed through his mind. Honestly, his first reaction was to bolt, like had when the clones had ended his Master, like when things got too rough, or it became harder to hide his secret.
Hera had started to coax that out of him, ease him into a new rhythm of life like she had: stand up boldly and fight the Empire (that was her goal, at least, though in his case it was more like: don't be afraid to stand up and face your problems). That had never been something Kanan was good at, but that didn't stop her from trying.
She had never dropped a bombshell like this though, which was smart actually, because if he had known earlier he might have 'borrowed' the Phantom for a bit. Even leaving her for fear of his past was hesitant and a bit closer to incomprehensible than Kanan would have liked, though. Which was why he wasn't bolting right now.
Kanan felt himself stiffen visibly though, and stang, if looks could kill.... "Kanan..." She lightly touched his arm. Any other time he would have a witty flirtatious comment at the ready, now, he jerked away from her touch, whirling to face her with an icy glare."I was hoping you'd tell me stuff like this before the OP." "If I had told you before the OP, you wouldn't be here!" He pointed at her, "Which is precisely why I wish you would have told me!"
He moved to go past her, but she blocked his way. "Kanan, I understand you don't want to face....whatever it is you're trying not to face. But sometimes we can't choose when our fights are." He didn't say anything, just looked at her with his blood boiling and a steely expression. "And I'm sorry for not telling you, that was wrong, and I see that." Kanan felt himself soften slightly at the earnestness of her response. "So I'm giving you a choice. You can go back to Ghost and wait out this OP with Chopper, or you can come with me."
Emerald eyes burned into his with such intensity that he looked away. Waiting with that....thing wouldn't be enjoyable. He chewed on his lip, thinking. Part of him wanted to hide this one out, but he remembered what he had told Hera, and the things she had told him about the mission. It could be a trap. The people were old friends of the Republic, Imperial prisoner . That sounded like a risky OP, for one thing. For another, the person they were meeting was a Devorian Crime Lord, and Kanan wasn't sure if he wanted Hera to walk into a probably armed encampment alone.
Kanan sighed reluctantly. "Fine. Next time though, if there is anything like this, I want to know about it. Deal?" She smiled up at him, and moved aside to let him pass. "Deal." "Alright." Kanan sighed, weary from their argument. Let's meet this Crime Lord."
Sooooo. What do you think? Should I continue? If you guys have any ideas feel free to share. :) Thanks for reading!
