Forget what hurt you,
never forget what it taught you.

It had been a week since Shimmer's rescue, and so far she had shown very little improvement. She was really sick and her strength simply wasn't returning. At times, her fever would go down for a few hours, a day at most before it would rise so suddenly it would be like nothing changed and we'd have to start all over again. When she was awake Amy would make Shimmer eat as much as she was able, hoping to improve her weight and give her strength back. The problem was, she simply wasn't eating as much as she should be, which was extremely worrying to all of us.
The other trainers were making sure that Shimmer was never left alone or went unwatched for long since Amy was saying Shimmer was too 'unstable' health wise and anything could happen. While we were taking care of Shimmer we'd been staying at Alyssa's home at the Skiddo ranch, the basement to be specific, which had been converted into two separate rooms and a small kitchen space by her parent's years ago. There were only two beds down here, one in each room, so Alyssa and Amy stayed up in Alyssa's bedroom while Nick and Thomas shared one of the spare rooms downstairs as everyone agreed that Shimmer would have the other room by herself since she was so weak, sick and needing to recover.
I was always by my trainer's side, watching her to make sure she was alright and ready to alert the others if Shimmer needed anything or got any worse. I was really worried for her. My trainer hardly spoke at all and she often woke up crying and more often than not, whimpered in her sleep.
Since I spent all my time in Shimmer's room, I still hadn't spoken with Dusk since our... Well, I guess you could call it a fight and whenever he came in by Thomas's side he wouldn't even look at me, not that I blamed him. I felt bad about the argument but I had to keep my promise, no matter what, I must keep Shimmer safe.
The sound of Shimmer stirring broke my concentration as I turned to face her, watching her eyes slowly open. As usual, her first glances around the room were fearful, like she'd been expecting to have woken somewhere else and I knew where she was fearing it would be, this had become normal for her. Her gaze eventually came to settle on me as I stood up, giving her a small but reassuring smile as I placed the flat of my tail against her forehead, her temperature had gone down since I'd last checked but it would most likely go back up in time. Though, I hoped it would stay down and she would finally begin to recover.
I gave her a small smile as she raised a shaky hand to stroke my fur, her soft blue eyes still shone with fear in the soft glow of the lamp. Her wrists bandaged up as the cuffs had cut deeply into her skin from a month of having gravity pull against her skin and Amy was worried about a possible infection.
"How are you feeling?" I asked softly, like Alice, Shimmer seemed to generally understand what I was saying. Actually, all the Dragon and Pixie born could, though not always to complete accuracy. They couldn't truly understand Pokémon like entities such as the Voice of Purity, they more felt what we said rather then heard it.
"It still hurts." She whimpered softly, squeezing her eyes shut for a few brief moments. "I want the hurt to leave."
I gave her a small nod, rubbing my cheek comfortingly against hers. "Can you get one of the others for me?" Shimmer croaked, her voice fading with exhaustion. Giving my trainer another nod, I jumped from the bed, first rousing Tiara and Wish, whom were sleeping at the edge of the bed so they could keep an eye on Shimmer before I left. They helped me watch over Shimmer during the day, or stayed awake when I needed to sleep.
Exiting through the open door, I made my way across the hall, pushing the boys' door open, since it was the closest room to Shimmer's and easiest form of help. I found Thomas reading a book in his bed, a blow up on resting on the floor. He looked up at me when he heard the slight creaking of the door. "Is Shimmer up?" The red eyed trainer questioned, sitting up straight.
Nodding my head, I watched as he pulled his blankets off and stood up, stretching out his back before following me back into Shimmer's room. She looked up at us as we entered, flinching slightly as she hunched her shoulders in defence before she realised who it was. Thomas hushed her softly, gently pressing the back of his hand against her forehead. "Your fever's gone down a little."
She let out a small shaky breath of relief, looking up at Thomas with her wide, scared, blue eyes. "H-hurt." She whimpered.
"It's okay, the hurt will go away." He said soothingly, smiling slightly with reassurance. "Do you need anything?" Thomas questioned, picking up the slightly damp cloth off her bedside table. He carefully wiped her forehead in effort to remove the thin layer of sweat her fever caused.
"I'm a little hungry." She whispered, looking up at the Dark-type trainer hopefully. "And some water would be nice."
Thomas nodded. "I'll just grab you something. I'll be right back, okay?"
Shimmer nodded and Thomas left the room, taking the cloth with him - most likely in order to retrieve a new one - while he was out. I jumped back onto the bed so Shimmer could see me and know that she still had someone near to keep her safe. She smiled a tiny bit and reached up to stroke my right dangle, taking it in her hand and gently running her thumb over my velvet like fur. I normally didn't really like being touched on my dangles as they were quite sensitive, often giving me an uncomfortable feeling when they were touched or stroked but this time however, I let Shimmer stroke the fur, just this once. "Thank you Shiver, for taking care of me." She whispered, cupping my cheek with her meek grip.
I just nodded, snuggling into her hand before glancing over to Tiara and Wish who were watching us with thoughtful gazes. Shimmer looked over to them as well. "Thank you two as well." Her eyes teared over slightly.
~No problem!~ Tiara chirped in reply, flapping her cloud like wings.
~It's fine.~ Wish hummed, cocking head a side.
Thomas walked back in holding a bowl of what looked like the Torchic and corn soup Amy had made since it was easier for Shimmer to eat while she was still so weak and she had mixed in a bunch of herbs that were meant to help Shimmer regain her strength quickly but they had yet to have sort of effect. The raven-haired trainer pulled over a chair and sat down while I moved to the other side of the so Thomas could help Shimmer sit up and lean against the bed board with a pillow to comfortably prop her up. "How are your wrists feeling?" He questioned, sitting the bowl and a cup of water on the bedside table as he sat down
"Better thank you." The petite trainer answered with a tiny smile while Thomas took her hand into his and examined the bandages.
He nodded and returned her small smile. "That's good, it means they're getting better. Are you still feeling sore?"
Shimmer nodded, hanging her head low. "It still hurts." She said in a voice so quiet it was hardly there, her voice cracked slightly and her smiled quickly vanished. "Can you make the hurt go away?"
"Hey, don't cry, it's going to be alright now." Thomas reassured her. "You're safe now and we'll make sure you get better, you just need to give it a little more time and with Amy helping it shouldn't be long until you're completely better."
Shimmer looked up at him pleadingly. "I was just... so scared." She squeezed her eyes shut as a tear slipped out. "I didn't know if anyone would care enough to come for me... or... or." She let out a small hiccup, more tears falling over her colourless cheeks. "I don't like being scared."
I let out a small sigh, gently nudging her side. ~Don't cry.~ I whispered, wiping away her tears with one of the dangles that framed my face.
Whatever Tyson did with her was still scaring her. Whenever anything around the topic was brought up she simply broke down into tears, which is why no one yet knew what exactly Tyson had done, yelling always made her upset or frightened her, and some sudden movements would make her flinch and pull away from those in the room. I knew Tyson could get scary but whatever he did had completely scarred Shimmer and it was making it take much longer for her to heal.
Shimmer pulled me into her arms and hugged me as tight as she was able, which wasn't very tight but she hugged me close enough for us to feel each other's heartbeats. Hers was soft and quick compared to my strong even beats. I looked at her with my black eyes while she looked at me with her teared up blue ones.
"I was so alone." She whispered. "I was scared because I didn't know if Shiver, Tiara or Wish were okay and I didn't know who was looking for me or if anyone even was. It was horrible."
I leaned upwards and nudged my nose against her chin, a mixture of concern and pity in my gaze. Tiara, Wish and I made it out only a little bruised but nothing more. Tyson wanted to see if we could be used by his mindless goons, but needless to say that didn't work out for any of them. After that he tried to make us submit to him by attacking us with multiple Pokémon at once but we could all hold out own in a fight and together we were more than compatible team.
Shimmer let me go and I slid from her arms so Thomas could help feed her the soup. Though I remained next to her, watching observantly from the pillow as Thomas helped to calm Shimmer down.
~Hey Shiver.~ Tiara chirped, snapping me from my gaze.
I looked over to the Humming Pokémon while had Thomas succeeded too clam Shimmer down, and he started to slowly feed her, since she wasn't really strong enough yet to do it by herself the others generally fed her to save her the effort.
~You get some sleep, Wish and I will watch Shimmer for a while.~ She smiled.
I hesitated but nodded regardless, I was protective of Shimmer but not stupid. I knew that I needed to sleep. ~Thanks.~ I mumbled, making my way to my usual spot beside her pillow before curling up and drifting calmly off into sleep, knowing I was leaving Shimmer in more than capable paws and claws.

I woke up later the next morning, since we were hiding from Tyson for her own safety I couldn't tell exactly what time it was but sometime around midday if I had to guess. Tiara was perched on the railing at the far end of the bed with Wish sitting on the Altaria's back, the two were humming quietly while Shimmer, who was awake watched silently, listening to the tinkle like sounds they created with a soft smile over her features.
Letting out a brief yawn, I sat up, listening to the two's beautiful song. I started grooming myself as I did every morning. When Tiara and Wish finished they let out a chirping sound and bowed their heads slightly while Shimmer did a few small claps with a small smile as she made a small squeaking sound of delight and praise as stood up and trotted over to her side, checking her fever by once again laying my tail against her forehead.
Smiling to myself, I nudged her cheek happily it was almost completely down.
"Is it better?" Shimmer asked softly, her eyes hopeful.
I gave a small nod and she smiled again, it was nice to see her happy for once, more than she had been in the past week, and the month that Tyson had her locked up of course.
"I'm starting to feel better as well." She replied.
Tiara and Wish both let out happy squeals and even I smiled. If Shimmer was getting better than that was the best news I have heard in a long, long time.

Yay! Another pov from Shiver. I was going to go back to Shimmer but I thought it would skip to much. Anyway I will soon soon reveal how Thomas and the others knew where Shimmer was so please stop asking.
I had an a awesome day at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, even Laura was surprisingly pleasant for the day. *shrugs* she got me and my friends on free rides in return for her hanging out with us since some of her friends were in my group. I got a chocolate show bag and a Pokemon one and won three Pokemon plushies from the side show games. It was amazing and I got to sleep over my friends house last night since today was the last day of school for the term and we were spending it at the Show, not a bad way to spend it if ya ask me.
Well I'm really tired from all the walking and crap so I'm gonna go to sleep. Night.
