Being equal doesn't mean not being special.
Being equal means knowing that you're
not the only special one in the world.

I gently ran my fingers through Shiver's soft fur. The arguing in the other room was still going on, though I wasn't quite sure how long it had been or how long their disagreement had gone on for. Shiver let out a tired yawn, apparently feeling quite relaxed, and closed her eyes, falling asleep on my lap. I smiled slightly as I pulled out her Pokéball, returning her so she could sleep inside.

Slipping the ball back into my purse, I clipped it to my belt before carefully tiptoeing to the door. I opened it, peering out to the darkened hall, noting that every other door was closed, including the one that lead to the lounge room itself. I shut the bedroom door behind me, sneaking to the front door. No, I wasn't leaving, I just wanted some fresh air and to listen to the sounds outside. Listening to nothing but the other arguing about me was boarding and was making me upset.

I pushed the front door open and closed it behind me a small sigh escaped my lips as I looked at the setting sun. The sky a mix of blue and purples while the clouds were pinks. I closed my eyes and leaned against the door, letting the soft breeze blow against me, like fingers carrying away my worries.

"It's beautiful tonight, isn't it?"

I jumped slightly and looked at Thomas who was sitting on a wooden chair under the porch, hunched over with his hands loosely sitting on his lap. I'd forgotten he'd come out here.

Thomas gestured for me to sit down in another chair. "Come on, they won't finish for a while yet."

I nodded and silently accepted the chair. "What were you guys arguing about before?" I asked quietly.

Thomas shook his head. "Nothing really. Tyson and Nick are now both saying you should go... but I don't agree."

I started playing with my hair nervously. "Oh..."

Thomas sighed. "It's alright though, you're not going anywhere. I won't let them kick you out."

With saddened eyes, I looked up at him. "I'm thinking about leaving." I said quietly. "I'm causing too many problems with you and your friends and it's not worth it."

The older trainer frowned. "You're not causing any problems."

"But you guys always seem to fight about me. I'm not special like you guys and it just seems to be pointless."

"Shimmer," Thomas said in a serious voice. "we fight all the time. All of us are different and have different points of views. Even Alice who was shy most of the time would sometimes fight. This is the first time ever that the Pixie and Dragon born have worked together and everyone is doing what they can to make it work."

"But I seem to be getting in the way of that."

Thomas sighed again. "If you really want to leave then I won't stop you. But I'd like you to stay, I want to help get your memories back."

I nodded slightly and looked up at the sky, the first few stars started to shine, blinking through the last of the sun's rays. I smiled at them, so pretty and so free. I closed my eyes for a moment, letting the last rays of the suns warmth dance in my pale skin.

"Shimmer move!" Thomas called out of the blue.

"Wha-?" My eyes snapped open just in time to see a Pokémon attack flying in my direction. I opened my mouth to scream as my body froze.

Thomas grabbed my wrist and pulled me away, hugging me close to his chest as the attack was sent flying into a wall with a loud crash.

Seconds later Amy, Alyssa, Nick and Tyson came running out.

"What the hell happened?" Nick burst out.

"A Shadow Ball came from nowhere and almost hit Shimmer." Thomas explained while hugging me close.

I was trembling in shock and fear as I looked around for the source of the attack.

Everyone else turned to the forest watching carefully, hands hovering above their belts.

Two more 'Shadow Balls' burst out from behind the trees.

Alyssa was the first to respond by throwing out a Pokéball. "Gleam, counter with your own Shadow Ball!"

The Espeon pounced gracefully from her ball, quickly firing her own, matching shadowy balls. They collided and exploded with a large booming sound, sending up black/purple smoke.

Everyone else pulled out an array of Pokéballs, calling their Pokémon into battle.

"Shadow, stand by!" Thomas yelled.

"Get ready, Sunburn!" Nick called.

"Moss stand your ground." Amy warned.

"Bolt, charge up." Tyson sounding angry and cautious, standing slightly more in front of us.

I pulled out my own Pokéball and sent out Shiver silently. She joined a row of Pokémon that all seemed very much similar to one another and stood prepared in front of their corresponding trainers.

Shadow was next to Shiver talking to my Glaceon in a low voice but whatever he said obviously didn't make Shiver happy because she tossed her head, waking Shadow across the cheek with her diamond dangles in a very irritated fashion.

In front of Nick was a fox-like Pokémon shorter than the others but he had a very poofy yellow tail. He was bright orange in colour with a fuzzy right of yellow fur like a main around his neck with a poof to match atop his head.

Moss was standing boredly in front of Amy. He kept flicking his ears though, keeping in alert. The Leafeon's leaf like ears and tail seemed to radiate in the dying embers of the day, absorbing the light.

Tyson had a yellow Pokémon whose fur was completely spiked with a scruff or white fur around her neck. Her purple eyes were lit with excitement as she yipped playfully while wagging her butt in the air since she had no obvious tail other than some longer spikes of fur.

Out of the six Pokémon I only knew what three where but when I looked at Sunburn and Bolt the names Flareon and Jolteon came to mind so they are what I'm going to assume they're called and that I've seen the Pokémon before and know what they are.

When the smoke cleared two men, dressed in black were standing there. One had a feline Pokémon that was dark purple in colour, dulled yellow spots littered its fur is a mismatched pattern. It hissed at us and stood tall, showing the obvious size difference between it and our Pokémon. It growled out, "Liepard."

The other Pokémon was still taller than our Pokémon and although smaller, stood at a similar height to its teammate and was covered in disheved black and grey fur. It was more canine in appearance and it growled rather than hissed but looked just as intimidating. "Mightyena!" It howled.

I flinched slightly, these were the same men from my memory. I buried my head in Thomas's jacket and whimpered fearfully. There was something not right with these men, they almost didn't seem human despite having that appearance.

Thomas stroked my head. "Hey, it's alright."

I shook my head. "They're the people from my memory. They're after me." I whimpered.

My friend held me tighter. "Well they're not getting near you."

One of the men stepped forward. "Just hand over the girl and there will be no problems." He said simply, his voice deep and dark, sending chills through my form.

Thomas shook his head, holding me tightly. "Go away, now." He hissed.

"We can do this the easy way or the hard way. Your choice." The man stated.

"Shadow, use Dig!" Thomas called, refusing to release me from his grip, not that I tried. I felt a sense of security in his arms.

His Umbreon looked up from talking, well trying to, with Shiver and nodded, leaping into the ground, sending up a plume of dust behind him.

"Hard way it is then." The second guy laughed. He ordered the Mightyena to use Shadow Ball and the other guy did the same.

All the Pokémon in front of use leapt into action following their trainers' orders. Shiver also joined the battle but I didn't know How to battle but she seemed to do so using her own judgement.

After what felt like hours, though what was realistically less than one, the two Pokémon fell, their eyes swirled in defeat while the team of Pokémon we'd fought with all stood strong. The two men cursed before returning their Pokémon.

"Don't expect to evade us forever girly, we will satisfy our masters expectations. You will be ours." One stated, they looked so similar I could not tell them apart.

I let out a shaky sigh, Thomas was still holding me close as I trembled with fear about what just happened. Closing my eyes tightly shut, I let a few tears fall. What did they want with me?

"Shimmer? Are you alright?" Thomas asked sounding worried, gently stroking my white hair.

I opened my eyes and looked up at his deepened red ones, his black hair outlined by the purple-blue starry sky above while the stars seemed to make his red eyes burn as different emotions swirled through them.

Giving a small nod, I attempted to relax. "They, they wanted me. They were in my memory with Shiver. They..." Unable to contain myself, I broke down sobbing.

My fear of them was pumping though my veins and not just from this single event, my mind knew I had to fear them from my past. It almost felt like I could feel them gripping my arms and trying to cover my mouth like in my memory before Shiver saved me, it was there.

Thomas wrapped his arms around me and stroked my hair. "Shhh, you're alright. I promise, they're gone and you are safe, alright?"

I nodded into his jacket. "I know, but I'm still scared."

Anther chapter done! YAAAY!!! Sorry this chapter isn't that good I haven't had much time lately but I really wanted to update and get to the good parts.

I was bitten by a mouse today while on work experience. It hurt like crap even though its teeth were only small it went in deep. I have two days of work experience left and I'm done, though I'd gladly go to the pet shop every day rather than school.

Welp I tired so I'm gonna take a nap before dinner. Byyyyyye!!!
