Chapter 5

He was here. She smelled him. Saw him. Heard him. Felt him. His smile was real...
"Yes, Star?" He asked, a warm smile on his face.
Her hand rested on his cheek. She felt the dark mole across her thumb. Her heart melted as she stared into his chocolate brown eyes.
"You're alive..." She felt high. High off of Marco.
"I am," he spoke. "The amulet gives me life,"
"How..." Her mouth was dry, her tongue feeling like sand paper.
"It feeds off of your emotions, building up inside of its chamber and manifesting my life force,"
"Why did you die for me..." She asked. Her hands clutched his hoodie.
"Let's not talk about that, are you okay? I've missed you," His hand rested on her cheek.
"I've been horrible, Marco. I can barely breathe without you here," the tears finally came rolling and she buried himself within his warmth.
The soft fabric of his hoodie was so... Welcoming. Six months of hell. And she was finally with him.
"You're going to be okay, the amulet only takes a few days to charge off of you. I'll be around from now on. But don't tell anyone. Okay?" He asked.
     "I promise... I won't," She whispered.
"Can we go to my room?" She asked.
"Of course," he answered. A warm smile was plastered across his face.
She took his hand and led him upstairs to he room. It was a mess, which she quickly cleaned up with a spell.
She turned around to him. "Is there any way I can bring you back?" She asked him.
"We don't need to worry about that right now. I'm happy where I'm at," he smiled warmly at her. She lied down under her blanket.
"Lay with me?" She asked. He did so without a word, discarding his red hoodie and hanging it on a hook on the fore poster bed.
She snuggled into him. Silence filled the air. Her room as quiet as it had been every other night.
Ten solid minutes passed, and the sobbing started. Her cries filled the room, echoing off the walls.
"Woah, woah, woah, Star... it's okay, I'm here." He soothed her. She felt his hands on her cheeks. His brown eyes were staring deeply into her blue ones.
"I gotta go, but I'll be back," he whispered.
"What?" Was all she could ask. Confusion was all she felt until he slowly faded away... Into nothing.
Her heart felt... Content. Content with where she was at. And so she fell asleep, the Hispanic boy prancing through her mind as she drifted off to sleep.
-----
Star woke up to Angie knocking on her door the next morning. Her eyes peeled open and she rubbed them to get the sleep out.
Her eyes caught something red in the corner. She looked over, the blue of sleepiness faded away as she saw what it was. Marco's hoodie.
Last night! It was real! And he left her a parting gift! Until they met again! Yay!
"Come on, Star! Let's watch some Seinfeld!" Star looked at her Unicorn clock.
Five in the morning? The blonde Mewman thought. The marathon started this early?
"Coming!" Star hopped out of bed as she heard Angie's fading footsteps down the hall.
She went straight to the hoodie. Her eyes stung with tears as her hand reached for it.
"Marco..." Her lips mouthed as her hand caressed the red fabric. "I'll bring you back, I promise..."
She brought the hoodie to her face, embracing the smell of him. After Shave and the natural musk of Marco.
Her mind often wandered to where he had possibly learned such power. Attained it. Let alone hide it. Was he a different race? She had been on Earth over a year, even before he had died. So what happened?
Glossaryck was still in his book. She felt the tension from the spell book. And knew to leave it alone, whatever was happening in there was serious.
"Come on, Star!"  She snapped out of her thoughts as Angie called out from down stairs.
Another day was spent on the marathons. At least today was until two in the afternoon.
"I hope there is something good on tomorrow!" Angie said as she changed the channels.
"Me too," Star agreed. And the two went their separate ways for the day.
Star made her way to the bathroom for a shower. The hot water soothed her body and her wings fluttered slightly as they were lightly pelted.
The amulet felt heavy on her chest, it laid on her pale skin as the water ran down her body.
She washed the shampoo out of her hair and rinsed her body. It was strange. What happened last night? She asked herself.
Marco was there of course. But how. How did this amulet cause that. What charged it. She turned off the hot water and dried off.
After she was dressed she headed to her room, opening the door. Glossaryck sat on his book, which sat on her bed. A serious look was engraved on his face.
"Star, we need to talk," he ordered.
