Steve, Alec, Tatiana, Bree and Bucky walked through the snow of Siberia toward the Hydra base, all still suited up.

Alec wasn't wearing his hood up, and he didn't have the cloth covering his face. Both he and Tatiana were carrying guns. 

"He couldn't have been here more than a few hours," Tatiana told them. "Long enough to wake them up."

They walked in, taking the elevator down, walking out.

Alec and Tatiana kept their guns raised in case.

Bucky flexed his metal arm.

Bree and Steve had their staff and shield held ready.

They started to walk up a set of stairs when they heard the doors open behind them, turning around, raising their weapons.

"You ready?" Steve asked.

"Yeah," Alec answered.

Tony and Jax, in their suits, pried the doors open.

Tony and Jax walked in toward them, letting their masks pull back into the suits.

"You seem a little defensive," Jax told them.

Tatiana, Bree and Steve lowered their weapons, walking closer.

"It's been a long day," Bree told them.

Tony looked at Alec and Bucky. "At ease, soldiers. We're not currently after you."

"Then why are you here?" Steve asked.

"Maybe your story is not so crazy," Jax told them.

"Maybe?" Tatiana repeated.

"Ross has no idea we're here," Tony told them. "I'd like to keep it that way. Otherwise, we got to arrest ourselves."

"Well, that sounds like a lot of paperwork," Steve told them. Tony chuckled. "It's good to see you guys."

"You, too," Jax told them. He saw that Alec was still aiming his gun at them. "Manchurian candidate, you're killing me. There's a truce here. You can drop it."

Tatiana looked at Alec, nodding.

Alec lowered his gun.

The group walked through the building.

T'Challa was nearby, hidden by a wall, suited up.

The group walked into a darkened room.

"I got heat signatures," Tony told them.

"How many?" Tatiana asked.

"Uh, one," Jax answered.

The lights turned on.

All five of the remaining Super Soldiers were dead inside their ice cases, having been shot in the dead.

Zemo: (on PA)"If it's any comfort, they died in their sleep. Did you really think I wanted more of you?"

"What the hell?" Bucky asked.

Zemo: (on PA) "I'm grateful to them, though. They brought you here."

A door at the back opened, revealing a window to show Zemo in another room.

Tony raised his hand toward Zemo.

Steve threw his shield at the window, trying to break it. The shield merely bounced off and came back to Steve.

Zemo: (on PA) "Please, Captain. The Soviets built this chamber to withstand the launch blast of UR-100 rockets."

"I'm betting Jax and I can beat that," Tony told him.

Zemo: (on PA) "Oh, I'm sure you could, Mr. Stark. Given time. But then you'll never know why you came."

T'Challa walked in, remaining hidden behind the wall.

"You killed innocent people in Vienna just to bring us here?" Bree asked, walking toward the window to speak to Zemo face to face. 

"I thought about nothing else for over a year," Zemo told her. "I studied you. I followed you. But now that you are standing here, I just realized... there's a bit of green in the blue of your eyes. How nice to find a flaw."

"You're Sokovian," Steve told him. "Is that what this is about?"

"Sokovia was a failed state long before you blew it to hell," Zemo told them. "No. I'm here because I made a promise."

"You've lost someone," Steve told him.

"I've lost everyone," Zemo told them. "And so will you." He turned on a TV in the room the group was in. The message in Russian on the screen was translated to: December 16, 1991. "An empire toppled by its enemies can rise again. But one which crumbles from within? That's dead. Forever."

Tony, Jax, Steve, Bree and Tatiana walked toward the screen to watch the security footage.

The road where Bucky had caused the car accident to get the serum was on the road.

"I know that road," Tony told them. He looked at Zemo. "What is this?"

Zemo didn't answer.

The car was seen crashing into the tree.

Bucky turned his motorcycle back, pulling over behind the trunk, getting off the bike, walking toward the car.

The group exchanged a look.

December 16, 1991

Howard crawled out of the car to the ground. "Help my wife." Bucky walked closer. "Please. Help her." Bucky pulled Howard up by his hair. "Barnes."

The group continued to watch, aside from Bucky and Alec.

They could hear Maria's voice. "Howard."

Tony looked at Bucky suspiciously.

December 16, 1991

Bucky punched Howard in the face with his metal arm twice.

Tony had to close his eyes from watching the video.

They could hear Maria's voice. "Howard!"

Tony opened his eyes.

They watched Bucky drag Howard toward the car and put him back in and walk around the car toward the passenger side.

Maria was too weak to move.

Bucky reached into the car.

"Help," Maria told him.

Bucky started to strangle Maria.

The group saw Bucky walk toward the security camera and shoot it out.

Another video started to play.

December 23, 1991 

Alec was in the base of Hydra, sitting in his electronic chair that they had him in every time they had him do something.

The Hydra soldier stood in front of him, speaking in German. "There were no witnesses to the Winter Soldier's raid. He made sure of that. But an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D has been tracking this for a week. She's getting close to discovering the truth. She needs to be dealt with."

Alec spoke in German. "Tell me what to do."

Now

The group watched a car pull up onto an abandoned road in the middle of the night.

Alec was in the middle of the street ahead, shooting an explosive device into the hood of the car.

The bolt exploded, making the car flip down the road. 

      ✯ 

December 23, 1991  

Oliana pulled herself out of the wreckage of her car, coughing.

Alec walked closer, trying to shoot Oliana with the explosive gun.

Oliana spun to kick the gun out of his hands. "I knew it. It wasn't a car accident that killed Tony's parents. It was Hydra."

Oliana ran toward Alec, trying to punch him. Alec caught her arm. Oliana kicked him in the leg to make him let go, spinning to backhand punch him in the face, jumping up, wrapping her legs around his neck, flipping him to the ground landing next to him. Alec picked her up, slamming her down. Oliana tried to punch him. Alec raised his arm to block the move, kicking her in the chest, making her fall. Oliana drew her gun, trying Alec in the chest and stomach. Alec was unaffected because of the metal, walking closer, kicking the gun out of her hand, gripping her throat, lifting her up, throwing her back into her car behind her, closing the door above her.

The group watched as Alec walked toward the explosion gun on the ground, turn around and fire it into the car.

The car exploded, taking Oliana with it.

Everyone was in shock.

Tony and Jax were in a rage, emotional, trying to go after Alec and Bucky.

Bree and Steve held them back.

"Tony," Bree told him.

"Jax," Steve told him.

Jax looked away, disconcerted. "Ana told me you guys found out that they were killed by Hydra. The video Zola showed you. She didn't tell it was them who killed them."

"Because we didn't know it was them," Tatiana told them.

Jax gazed off for a long moment, letting his mask come on, turning to backhand punch Steve in the face, making him let him go and fall to the floor.

Alec tried to shoot Jax.

Jax shot Alec with a light ray, making him fall.

Tony let his mask come on, pushing Bree away. Bucky tried to punch him with his metal arm. Tony caught it, gripping him by his throat, flying across the room, pushing Bucky to the floor on the other side, stomping on his metal arm.

T'Challa realized that Zemo had gotten away, going after him.

Tony tried to shoot Bucky with a light ray in the face.

Bree threw her staff into Tony's head with enough strength to make him get off of Bucky, holding her electromagnetic gloved hand toward her staff to bring it back to her. Tony shot a light blast into the staff she was holding to creating a wave of energy that made her fall, shooting handcuffs around her ankles.

Bucky stood, punching Tony in the face. Tony picked Bucky up, flying him across the room, pushing him against the wall, trying to shoot him with a light blast. Bucky caught his hand with his metal arm, twisting it back, squeezing the glove to dismantle that light ray shooter. 

Jax tried to shoot Alec with a light blast. 

Tatiana grabbed Jax's wrist, aiming the light ray at the ceiling, making him shoot that instead, creating an explosion that made beams of the ceiling fall to the floor.

 Steve used his shield to slam against the cuffs around Bree's ankles, cutting her free, helping her stand.

Jax, Alec and Tatiana rolled out of the way of a falling beam toward Tony, Bucky, Steven and Bree.

Jax was temporarily pinned.

Tatiana looked at Bree, pointing to Bucky and Alec. "Get them out of here!" Tony flew toward Bucky and Alec, shooting a light blast toward them. Alec threw himself in front of Bucky, using his metal chest and torso to take the hit instead, falling to the ground. Bucky and Bree helped Alec stand. They ran toward the elevator stairs. Bucky hit a button to open the top door in the ceiling. Jax pushed himself up from the floor. Steve and Tatiana stood in Jax and Tony's way. "It wasn't them. Hydra had control of their mind."

"Move," Tony told them.

"It wasn't them!" Tatiana told them.

Tony and Jax started to fly over Tatiana and Steve.

Tatiana threw a shocking device into Jax's suit, making him fall.

Steve grabbed Tony's ankle, using his shield to hit against the thrusters in the boots, making him fall.

Jax stood, using a laser light to cut into the ceiling between them, making pieces of the ceiling fall in the way of Steve and Tatiana getting to them. 

Tony looked up at Bucky, Bree and Alec as they made their way up.

Friday: "Left boot-jet failing. Flight systems compromised."

Jax flew up to Bucky, Bree and Alec, shooting Alec in the chest with a light ray, making him fall to the landings, punching Bucky in the face, making him fall to the ground next to Alec, trying to shoot them both with a light ray. 

Bree ran closer, pushing Bucky and Alec out of the way, standing, using her staff like a bat to hit Jax in the face, making him fall into the wall and then down to a lower landing.

Steve and Tatiana ran closer from another entrance.

"They're not going to stop," Steve told them. "Go."

Bucky and Alec jumped from landing to landing to get up to the top.

Jax flew up toward them.

Tatiana shot an electrified wire around Jax's suit's neck, jumping down from the landing, down to the floor below, pulling Jax with her, landing on another landing on her side, making Jax fall to the floor.

Tony aimed his light ray at Bucky and Alec, but the targets on the screen kept moving. "Come on. Come on."

Friday: "Targeting systems inaccurate, boss."

"I'm eye balling it," Tony told them, letting his mask pull back, shooting the light blast into the ledge that kept the door open.

Alec and Bucky had almost made it to the door when it started to fall toward them, jumping down, almost falling off of two landings.

Steve and Bree caught onto Alec and Bucky to keep them from falling to the floor below, pulling them up.

Tony tried the best he could to fly up to them with one of the jet boots out. He used the energy waves to cause Steve and Bree so much pain they had to hold their heads.

Bree threw her staff to Bucky. "Bucky!"

Bucky caught the staff, using it to hit Tony in the face, making him fall into the wall. Tony walked closer. Bucky hit him in the face with the staff again. 

Tony twisted the staff out of Bucky's grip, throwing the staff into the approaching Alec, making him fall of the landing to the ground below, gripping Bucky from behind in a chokehold. "Do you even remember them?"

"I remember all of them," Bucky answered.

Alec almost hit the ground.

Tatiana drew her crossbow with a wire, shooting it into the opposite wall, using the wire to pull herself toward Alec, catching him before he hit the ground and died from the impact, pulling them toward another landing.

Jax shot the wire arrow with a light blast, severing the wire, making them fall.

Tatiana and Alec fell to the floor, groaning in pain at the impact, breathing heavily.

Tony still had Bucky in a chokehold, trying to snap his neck.

Bree held her electromagnetic gloved hand toward the staff, taking it from Tony so he couldn't.

Steve ran toward Tony and Bucky, jumping up from the landing he was on to get them, tackling them to the floor below. Tony's flying slowed the fall enough to where the fall was painful but not fatal.

Bree stabbed the hook of her staff into the wall, sliding down the way to the floor.

Everyone stood.

Tatiana looked at Tony and Jax, breathing heavily. "This isn't going to change what happened."

"I don't care," Jax told them. "He killed my mom."

Jax flew closer to punch Alec in the face. Alec punched him in the face. Jax punched him in the face twice. Alec ducked a third time, spinning around him to stand behind Jax, holding him in a chokehold from behind. Jax fired a light blast into the wall, pushing them back through the air, making Alec let go and them fall to the floor. Jax stood, trying to punch Alec in the head. Alec moved his head enough to make him punch the concrete beneath him.

Tatiana threw shocking devices into Jax's suit, making the suit shock momentarily to disable the systems briefly.

Jax turned to backhand punch Tatiana in the head, making her spin through the air and fall to the ground. Alec ran toward Jax, punching him in the chest twice, kicking him in the head, making him fall into the wall behind him.

Tony punched Steve in the face. Bree hit Tony in the back with her staff, making him fall. Tony turned to shoot Bucky with a light blast. Bucky raised his metal arm to protect himself. Tony stood, trying to punch Bucky. Bucky ducked, making him spin around, kicking him in the chest. Bree spun to hit Tony in the face with her staff. 

Jax tried to shoot Alec with a light blast. Alec rolled out of the way, making it hit the ground, standing. Jax tried to shoot him again. Steve threw his shield to Alec. Alec caught it, using it to protect himself from the light blast Jax fired at him. 

Bucky kicked Tony in the back of the leg, making him take a knee to the ground. Bree hit Tony in the face with her staff, making the mask spark. Tony twisted the staff out of her hands, throwing it away. Bucky caught the staff, using it to hit Tony in the stomach. Bree punched Tony in the face. Bucky tossed the staff to Bree. Bree caught it.

Alec threw the shield against Jax, making it bounce of toward Steve. Steve caught it, using it to hit Jax in the face. Jax shot Alec in the chest with the light ray, making him fall, turning to punch Steve in the face twice, kicking him in the chest making him fall.

Tony stood, punching Bucky in the face twice, trying to punch both Bree and Bucky. Bree raised her staff to block the move the same time Bucky raised his metal arm to block the move. Bree spun to elbow Tony in the face. Tony turned to Bucky, trying to shoot him with a light blast. Bree pushed her staff up against Tony's arm, making him aim the light blast at the wall and ceiling instead. Tony shot a light ray at the staff in Bree's hands, also burning into her gloves and hands, making her fall.

Bucky pushed Tony against the wall, pushing his head against it with his normal arm, gripping the arc reactor in Tony's chest with his metal arm, pulling at the arc reactor with all the force and strength he had, screaming in exertion. He managed to pull the arc reactor out of Tony's suit. The arc reactor fired a blast through Bucky's metal arm that severed it off, making him fall to the ground. 

Jax shot Bucky in the back with a light blast, making him fall.

Tony's suit no longer worked without the arc reactor in the chest.

Jax turned to shoot Alec repeatedly with light rays.

Steve raised his shield in front of Alec to protect him.

Steve and Jax faced each other.

Jax shot a light blast into the shield Steve held up waiting.

Zemo was outside of the base, listening to the last voicemail that he had ever received from his wife.

Woman: (voicemail) "You should've seen his little face. Just try, okay? I'm going to bed. I love you."

Zemo hung up.

T'Challa walked closer from behind him, taking off his mask, putting it on the snowy ground. "I almost killed the wrong men."

"Hardly innocent men," Zemo told him, deleting the voicemail on his phone.

T'Challa walked closer. "Is this what you wanted? To see them rip each other apart?"

"My father lived outside the city," Zemo told him. "I thought we would be safe there. My son was excited. He could see Iron Man and Gold Strike from the car window. And I told my wife, 'Don't worry. They are fighting in the city. We are miles from harm.' When the dust cleared, and the screaming stopped... it took me two days until I found their bodies. My father... still holding my wife and son in his arms. And the Avengers... they went home. I knew I couldn't kill them. More powerful men than me have tried."

      ✯ 

Inside, Steve had Jax against the wall, hitting him in the face with his shield.

Tony walked closer to Bucky angrily, picking up Bree's dropped staff to stab him in with the hook of the staff.

Bree caught the staff before he could, punching Tony in the face.

Alec knelt next to Tatiana.

Tatiana was starting to sit up, her head bleeding from where Jax had hit her.

Zemo: (voice over) "But, if I could get them to kill each other?"

      ✯   

Outside, Zemo and T'Challa were speaking.

"I'm sorry about your father," Zemo told him. "He seemed a good man. With a dutiful son."

"Vengeance has consumed you," T'Challa told him. "It's consuming them. I'm done letting it consume me." He retracted his metal claws into his suit. Zemo was holding a gun. "Justice will come soon enough."

"Tell that to the dead," Zemo told him, aiming the gun at his head from underneath his chin.

T'Challa grabbed the barrel of the gun, turning it away before Zemo could kill himself, pulling him back into a headlock. "The living are not done with you yet."

Bree punched Tony repeatedly, making him back away from Bucky, taking her staff away from him.

Friday: "You can't beat her hand to hand."

Steve and Jax were still fighting. Steve punched him repeatedly, trying to hit him with his shield. Jax ducked, spinning around Steve to stand behind him to get closer to Alec. Steve used his shield to pull Jax back away from him. Jax shot the shield with a light ray to make it fall out of Steve's hands, turning to Steve, using a blast wave to push him back, making him fall to the ground, flying closer to Alec, trying to punch him twice. Alec ducked, punching him in the face, then the stomach, kicking him back. Jax spun to elbow him in the face, shooting Alec in the chest with a light ray, making him fall, walking closer, trying to shoot Alec with a light ray.

Bree used her staff to push Jax's hand up to the ceiling, making him shoot the light ray up there. She stepped in his way of getting to them. "Bucky's my fiance. I love him. Alec's my friend." Steve stood, walking closer. "He's our friend."

Tony walked closer. "So were we."

Bucky started to wake.

Jax punched Bree in the face.

Tony punched Steve in the face. 

Jax picked up Bree, turning around, throwing her into a wall, making her fall. 

Steve held up his fists. "I can do this all day."

Jax tried to shoot Steve with a light ray.

Alec grabbed Jax from behind, turning around, pushing him past Tatiana.

Tatiana threw three shocking devices into Jax's suit, holding the buttons down, shocking the suit and him enough to power the suit down, making him fall to his knees, releasing the button. "That's enough!" Tony walked closer. Tatiana threw a shocking device into him, making him fall to his knees. "Stay down. Final warning."

Tony and Jax let their masks pull off their heads.

Everyone was breathing heavily.

Steve and Bree took the shield and the staff, walking toward Alec and Bucky, helping them stand.

"That shield and staff do not belong to you," Tony told them. "You don't deserve them. My father made them."

Steve and Bree let the shield and the staff fall to the ground, walking away with Alec and Bucky.

Tatiana looked at Tony and Jax numbly in disappointment and regret, turning around, walking away, leaving them alone with everything they had found out and everything that had happened.
