Lost World of Light
Slivers of moon, a drop of rain,
Whisk me away from all my pain.
Let me soar, lift me up into the sky.
Send me into the world of those who fly,
Allow me to explore places where I've never walked.
Show me the magic found in crooks in corners where I've never looked.
Let me be found, let me be free.
For my dearest wish is to let me be me.
For I once had wings that fluttered and shone,
I flew all around, when I was at home.
Along with other faeries, I flew the day away.
Alas, now my wings are gone, and all I can do is pray.
For a foolish wish, I made once.
As I longed to see the world where people could walk and run.
So I made a wish, on a star that whizzed by.
And I fell asleep, with my eyes to the sky.
When daylight approached, and my eyes opened wide.
I was no longer in the mountains, I was lying on the seaside.
I examined my surroundings, not knowing what to do.
Little did I know that my wish had come true.
I was no longer in my world; a world where Faeries danced around.
I had been sent to the human's land, a land where people were bound to the ground.
Standing up, I stretched and yawned.
And as I tried to fly, I noticed that my wings were gone.
I wept and moaned,
Cried and groaned.
And as I eventually stumbled across a little town,
I was frightened, I didn't want to be found.
And yet, the humans were completely fine with me.
For without my wings, there was no sign I was a Faerie.
And though I was fine, I was certainly not content.
Because I wasn't happy without my wings, wandering
around in this world where I was sent.
And as I cast this spell right now,
I want to be returned, to the land where Faeries flew 'round.
For as I gaze up at the stars this night,
I'll be whispering "Please, bring me back to my lost world of light."
