Blue Hands
"Uh..Hey"
Robin peaked just her head into the break room where Steve was.
"Hey." Steve said almost unphased, not even looking up- until, "Wait you never just say hey. What's going on?" Steve looked up and saw Robins mildly worried face.
"There was a problem unpacking the slushie mix for the slushies machine."
"Problem?" Steve's eyebrow raised, as he leaned back in his chair.
"Yea dingus, a problem with the new s l u s h i e m a c h i n e " Robin said the last part very slowly- filled with sarcasm.
Steve got up from his chair, walking toward the door.
"Stop!" She yelled at him, eyes growing wide.
"Why are you telling me this if you didn't want me to help?" Steve noticed that this was a little too suspicious, and so he opened the door before Robin could answer or protest.
There on the floor was two open boxes of slushie mix, one blue- one red. But that wasn't what caught Steve's eye, what was really eye catching was Robin- whos forearms were dyed completely blue.
Silence filled the air, Steve was absolutely dumbfounded.
"So.." Steve trailed,
"So..." Robin lingered on the word, searching for a explanation that didn't sound stupid. "I dropped my nametag.." Robin noted the blue box.
"Ok. Did you get it?" Steve had his hands on his hips, purposefully ignoring the blue arms.
"No. Its still in the box;" Robin noticed Steve pretending like he didnt notice the obvious problem. "And would you get your hands off your hips! What are you my mother?" She went to swipe away his sassy stance,
"Woah watch the shirt, I get payed to work in this-" Steve doged her hand looking genuinely worried. Robins face went flat.
"Can you get it?" Steve rolled his eyes and walked over to the box. He stared at it and looked back at Robin.
"Why don't you get it Smurfett? Your hands are already blue."
"I couldn't find it." She shrugged.
"You couldn't fin- In this small box?" Steve questioned further. "Ok. I can't believe I have to ask this, but do you actually know if it fell into the box?" Steve leaned against the wall and raised his eyebrow again.
"Well.." Robin started to think back, "actually I guess it might have fallen in the red, but I could have sworn it was in the blue.." Robin, at this point looked mildly confused.
"Oh my god Robin I already have 6 children, I don't need another." He held his face, absolutely starstruck by the sheer stupidity.
"Whatever, check the red then!"
"Fine." Steve put a hand in the red box and shuffled around. Confused he put his hand a bit deeper, still unable to feel a nametag. He put his whole forearm in at this point and still; nothing. "Wow.." He was very confused at this point. So he stuck another arm in. After shuffling around for like, five minutes he looks at Robin. "I don't think it's in here."
Robin came closer and looked at the red and then the blue. "Well check again, I'll check blue again too." At this point they were both frantically searching for a nametag so they could go home.
"What the actual hell," Steve jumped getting red slushie mix on the counter, turning around to see Dustin in the breakroom's doorway. Robin just raised an eyebrow.
"I hope you don't touch the ice cream too. Thats messed up." Dustin furrowed his brows still trying to peice together the situation.
"I dropped my nametag-" Robin started
"Then she got me-" Steve butted in
"And he searched the red-"
"Well she mixed up what box it fell in-"
"And-"
Dustin butted in, "You mean that nametag on the floor?" Dustin pointed to a small rectangle behind the blue box. Steve's face scrunched,
"You absolute nut!" Steve exclaimed, pacing around the room,
"Did you just call me a nut?" Robin swiped a blue hand at Steve,
"Oh you wanna play that?" Steve said swiping a red hand back. Robin scrunched her face and soon a small catfight where Steve and Robin just slapped hands broke out. It wasn't until Dustin spoke that the childish fight ended.
"So- that was really heartwarming but the mall is closed and you were supposed to take me home." Dustin pointed to the clock in the break room.
"Shit I'm late- your mom's going to kill me!" Steve's eyes widened, as he scrambled for his key's.
"No shit Sherlock." Dusting retorted making his way to the door.
"What about this mess??" Robin prodded, blue hands pointing to the two boxes with contaminated slushie power everywhere around.
"Payback for making me dye my arms and my outfit red!" Steve said, bolting out of the room.
"But you hate that outfit!" Robin yelled after him, sighing.
