Chapter 2
Being a Demigod sucked a lot whenever there was a war you had to fight. But, when there wasn't anything bad happening, life as a Demigod could be nice. You made lots of friends, got to do fun activities, and sometimes you just got to relax.
Right now, the seven, and Nico were sitting by the lake, enjoying the nice weather, and watching the Naiads braid each other's hair. Leo finally sighed, "Okay guys this is fun and all, but let's do something a bit more exciting."
The rest kind of nodded their heads "So what do you want to do?" Percy asked.
"I guess we could play a game." Jason suggested.
"What about a mini capture the flag?" Piper asked, "We could have two teams of four."
This idea went over well so they divided themselves into teams. Percy was the captain of team blue (Obviously.) He also had Nico, Hazel, and Frank. Annabeth was the captain of red (She had insisted being on the opposite team of Percy.) And she had Jason, Leo, and Piper.
Once the teams were decided they each found something that they could use as a flag. Team red had a red scarf Piper had found in the Aphrodite cabin. Team blue had an old blue t-shirt that Percy had found under his bed, which probably hadn't been washed in years. Once the flags were hidden Annabeth blew a whistle to start the game.

Nico had been tasked with guarding the flag while Percy, Hazel, and Frank tried to retrieve the other. He quickly drew his sword when he heard rustling in the woods. He didn't see anyone, so he assumed that it must have been Annabeth in her invisibility cap.
Suddenly the flag was snatched from the pole behind him. "Schist!" Annabeth's hat fell off as he ran after her. The border was the creek as usual. As soon as she passed that the game would be over. Nico had almost caught up to her but suddenly his foot got caught on a rock and he tumbled down the hill.
Annabeth ran into the creek and turned around to gloat to Nico. Only he wasn't right behind her. "Nico? Are you okay?" she walked back and found him on the ground. "Nico!" she got down next to him and started looking for injuries. "What happened?"
"I tripped." He tried to stand up, but he looked down and saw that his leg was broken.
Annabeth saw it too "We have to get you to the infirmary right now!"
"No." Nico sighed. It was only his prosthetic leg. "We need to find Leo."
"What?!" She panicked. "No, you need to go to the infirmary! Here have some ambrosia!" she started to reach into her pocket, but he caught her hand.
"Annabeth I'm fine." He stressed. "I'm not in pain. I'm not even hurt. I don't need to go to the infirmary, all I need is to find Leo."
She wasn't sure why, but for some reason she truly believed him. "Ok. Let's find Leo." She helped him stand up and he leaned on her shoulder as they made their way to the pavilion.

"There you guys are!" Percy and the others ran over to them. "We've been looking all over for you! Hey... Nico what's wrong?"
"He broke his leg." Annabeth said simply. Percy, Frank, Hazel, Piper, and Jason started freaking out.
"Why aren't you going to the infirmary?!"
"Does it hurt?"
"Do you want some ambrosia?"
"I have some nectar!"
"No! Nico you're too young to die!" (You can guess who that last one was. Hint: it rhymes with Jercy Packson)
Finally, Leo walked over to Annabeth and Nico. He smiled "I'll take my patient now." Everyone was confused. Annabeth gently handed Nico over. She still wasn't sure that this was a good idea. "I see you still haven't told them."
Nico rolled his eyes "Oh shut up Valdez and just fix it!" Leo helped him sit at one of the tables.
"Wow, someone's grouchy." He smirked "I could always just make you fix it yourself."
"I will literally shadow travel to my room right now and get a spare if you don't fix it." He growled "One of the joints just popped out so it shouldn't take too long."
Leo dug around in his belt and got the tools he needed. "Alright, let's see what damage you've done to my beautiful machinery."
Nico rolled his eyes again "it's my leg! I can do whatever I want to it!"
The other demigods were confused until Leo rolled up the leg of Nico's jeans to reveal the prosthetic limb. "Wh-when did that happen?" Nico looked up and he could tell that Percy felt guilty. They had known each other for years and he felt bad because he had never noticed.
Nico sighed and told them the story while Leo got to work. "It happened when I was little. Before Bianca and I went to the Lotus Hotel. My mom was trying to move us out of Italy because it was no longer safe there with the war. We were about to get on a ship to take us to America when a group of rebels tried to hijack it. They started shooting at everything and I got shot several times in my leg. We were able to get onto another boat, but we didn't have time to go to a hospital. The ship's infirmary was not equipped for surgery, so my leg had to be left as it was. They had managed to stop the bleeding, but they couldn't get the bullets out. When we got to the States my leg had been extremely infected. All they could do was amputate it."
Nico looked down in shame "I'm sorry I never told you guys it's just, I was afraid you wouldn't see me the same way after I had waited so many years to tell you. I know it's stupid, and I know you would never think that. I was just scared I guess."
Percy sat down on the bench next to him and put an arm around his shoulder. "You're right, we would never treat you differently because of this. I'm just sorry I never noticed it before."
"It's ok." Nico smiled. "I'm a pretty good actor." Everyone laughed.
Once Leo had finished, the demigods continued their game. None of them ever treated Nico differently. And he was grateful for that. He was glad that he had finally told them. Especially Percy, who he had been friends with for so long. He was grateful to have such great friends.
