Chapter 21
Sir Cacao Point of View
"You are cheating." When those words left her pink lips and reached my ears, they not just dug my ears but my heart too.
Cheating?
Did she mean I was cheating her? Her?
How can she say that? How can she look at me with eyes that one look at a real cheater?
My heart was now parboiled, stewed and shredded mercilessly by her simple statement.
"Did you – did you just say I was cheating? How could you?" My hand automatically went to my heart where it now hurts and gasped for air as I looked at her with hurt hunting in my eyes.
"But you did. How was it that you are winning every time? I'm a businesswoman; I didn't even win one game in sixteen rounds we played." Anete exclaimed. She walked to me and caught my hand, checking to see if I hid any cards in my sleeves or collar or anywhere on my body.
It's a kind of ping ball roulette card game that Frazer invented. It involves both the pin ball roulette and cards in this game. The cards we have is how we determine the winner and the way we get those cards is by trying our luck at ping ball roulettes.
So it is basically a combination of luck and skill you need to win a game.
"You should not think as a businesswoman to win this game. You should possess a fraud's soul into you." I explained showing how disappoint I was at her way of thinking. But when I saw her narrowing her eyes at me, I quickly continued, "That doesn't make me a cheater. You can think like a fraud and still play honestly without cheating."
For the first time, I saw Anete pout; and she never pouts. She has always been too prim and elegant with what she shows others.
The moment her lips puckered out slightly, I was a done deal.
Devil was summoned into me and was suggesting me to try some unexplainable things to her.
"P-put those lips inside your mouth." I cleared my throat and turned my face away from her.
I don't want to kiss her with all the family members around.
"Why?"
"You are pouting." I said as if she should understand but glancing at her from my peripheral vision, I can say she did not understand.
"But how?"
"Hmm?"
"Never mind. We are playing again. Let's see how you will win this time." She challenged me and went to the ping ball roulette.
Challenge accepted.
"Let's make a bet. The one who wins this round of game has to fulfill the bet we agreed upon." I suggested confidently.
"Okay." She tipped her chin up confidently and looked at me like a fierce hippo.
"My heart goes first." Anete looked around as if making sure no one heard it, all the while controlling the smile that was trying to break on her face.
She was blushing like a fresh apple and heart on my hand – no – hand on my heart, she is so beautiful.
"If I win, you have to tell me why me."
"Why you? Why you what?"
"Why did you choose me to court – date."
"No problem. If I win, you have to arrange a blind date for me."
"Oka – What?" Anete nearly yelled causing the others from other tables glance at us curiously. I shook my head at them with a smile telling them we are just joking around.
They gave both of us a mischievous stare and turned back to whatever they were doing leaving us back to ourselves.
"You w-want me to f-find a b-blind d-date for you?" She stuttered, giving me a look close to a glare with lots of ridicule in it.
She is so expressive. Indeed, she is the most beautiful; after my grandma, mom, aunts, of course.
"Yes." I nodded sincerely.
"But you said you like me." She seems so hurt but this is necessary no matter how hurt she is.
"I do. I'm only few steps away from loving you."
"But you want to go on a blind date?" She asked in disbelief.
"Yes."
"Why?"
"To create ripples of trouble in our relationship." I said throwing the ball on the roulette table.
Anete's posture, expression, every hair on her body screamed confusion and shock. I can literally see virtual images of her screaming around us.
"Cacao, you don't want to date me anymore?"
"Of course I do. After we realize our love for each other in future, I want to marry you." What is she thinking?
Didn't I give her enough realization that I'm into her?
It can't be! I always showed her and everyone that I like her very much.I was straightforward with my interest in her.
"You asked me to arrange a blind date for you. Either you don't want me anymore or you want me and some other woman also at the same time."
"Aiya! You see, we are so smart, too matured and extremely understanding. While this is a good thing, in relationship we need a little trouble to get closer and get some important realizations. Since you are my girlfriend, you should take the responsibility."
I mean, she is my girlfriend, my pin number to my credit card; isn't it obvious that she is the hostess of my home and my life?
She should take it on herself to give few minir trouble to make our bond stronger. Since Anete is very understanding and much smarter, troubles between us are hard to come by.
Unfortunately but still fortunately, she is kind enough to forgive everything and even if she might get troubled due to my secret keeping condition, she still ignores or forgives me.
This gives me only one option, to travel from like to love, we have to create trouble ourselves. A little trouble is always helpful.
"Why blind date? Let's have an argument on something. That is enough trouble right." I can tell she is very disturbed suddenly.
"Although we are in an slow burn relationship and it is a good thing, we still need to get into right pace. With blind date, both of us will have some realizations that might be very helpful."
"But I don't like to see you go to some other woman." She is now aggrevated.
"That's a good start."
"But why you? Why don't I go to a blind date?" She huffed challengingly.
"You will go to one as well. After I go to one with a woman of your choice, you will go to one with a man of my choice. I won't let you go through the love realizations alone. Remember, through thin and thick, we shall be together forever."
Equality is what I prefer the most in a relationship.
Equality
Transparency
Accountability!
"Then that's decided. I will continue courting you until our vacation is over here. I'm sure we will be solid couple by then. Once we are back to the city, we will go on one blind date each." I beamed, clapping my hands enthusiastically.
This will be so much fun and fruitful.
I want to feel what it feels to be jealous. I want her to feel it for me too?
What better way than to be with another person? Since I have devotion and loyalty that is beyond comparable, I want her to take responsibility of this.
I don't want to lie or keep anything from her!
"Fine. You have to win to go out to see another woman. You will never win now." She declared with determination.
Now that's like my Anete.
"Sure!" I smiled charmingly wickedly at her before getting to the game.
Twenty five minutes later, we have a winner standing proudly and a second place winner who is pouting sadly.
"Because only you made me to be grateful to God by just existing." Seeing that the others are back on dance floor and bar and we are the only ones near the gaming tables, I moved closer to her and whispered.
I wrapped my hand around her waist and pulled her to me. With a wet kiss on her chin, I mumbled 'beautiful'.
"Huh?" She panted and was confused.
"You asked me why you. That was my answer."
"But you won the game."
"I won the game, you won my heart. You got a bigger win." I gave her lopsided smile and wiggled my brow at her suggestively.
She chuckled out and hit my chest shyly before hiding her face in my chest.
"You only know how to flirt." She hinted with a frowning smile.
"I also know how to look handsome without any effort."
"Why do you love you so much?" Is she really asking me that?
Isn't it obvious that to everyone, their own person is their first favorite.
"Because I am loveable."
"That you are. But you love yourself too much." Ah, is she hinting me that she wants to stand on the same level as my love for me?
"You can love me too much too. I never said you are not allowed." She raised a brow at me and scowled.
"You are impossible." She shook her head with a sigh.
"Truly I am. I am Godly and priceless to. You are lucky to have me as lucky am I to have myself."
