"I'm watching you."
"I know where you live."
Jungkook sighed as he deleted the messages that kept popping up on his phone. He blocked the number as well.
This was the millionth number he'd had to block since becoming an idol due to reasons like this. People getting his number and then messing with him. At this point it didn't bother him all that much because he was so used to it. He'd learned over the years that it was usually pretty harmless. People would annoy him and then when they realized he wouldn't reply they'd simply go away and leave him alone. It happened to all of the members.
He didn't mention it to his members because he figured it didn't matter all that much. They will go away. It's not like the messages are scary or anything.
He wondered how people got his phone number in the first place but figured he must've mis-clicked on something that gave it away, or someone knew someone who knew someone, etc. Whatever the reason, all he could do was continue to block, delete, and move on.
Which was easy at first, because after he had deleted those first few messages and blocked the random number, his phone was clean for a while. Nobody was bothering him. Except Jin hyung who is always yapping in the group chat. I should block his number next!
It had been another normal day of rehearsals, interviews, and pre-recordings. The members spent their break time lounging around and eating snacks. Yoongi brought up how he'd recently been getting texts from a random number, which piqued Jungkook's interest, and as he was about to mention that he has too, Yoongi told them the number turned out to be a cousin he hadn't spoken to in a while and he was excited for them to get back in touch. The maknae slumped his shoulders as he felt like now he didn't want to mention the random messages on his phone, as it wasn't an as exciting of a story.
After a long day's work the members were heading back home when more messages popped up on Jungkook's phone, this time from a different number than the previous one.
"I can't wait until we get married."
"Because I am the ONLY one you're going to marry. I will make sure of that."
Jungkook furrowed his brows at his phone. What the hell?
Before he even had time to think or process what he'd just read, more messages from that number popped up.
"You didn't reply to my messages the other day??"
"I know this is you, Jungkook. Don't ignore your girlfriend."
"Like I said before, I know where you live."
The maknae gulped when he realized the messages had to be from the same person he'd already blocked a few days ago. So they're not going to go away that easily?
Hobi caught his attention as he tapped his shoulder. "You okay? You look like you've seen a ghost."
Jungkook put his phone down, "I'm fine, hyungie." He still didn't want to tell his members about it. He felt like it was either one, pointless to tell them because there was nothing they could do anyways, or two, it would worry them a lot and he didn't want that either. He didn't want to ruin their peace of mind over his own personal affairs. Hobi's comment made the rest of the members in the car turn to the youngest.
"Well, you tell us if something is bothering you, okay?" said Namjoon.
"Of course, you know I would." Jungkook went silent, trying to hide the fact he was lying. Maybe not this time, though. This is just nothing, right?
He ignored the chatter and laughter of his members the rest of the car ride home. After deleting the recent slew of messages and blocking yet another number, he tried to ignore his phone but couldn't resist checking it every five seconds to see if more messages popped up. Thankfully he hadn't received any more after that. He realized that his hand was shaking a little bit. Stop. Calm down. Don't let it bother you. It's just another crazy person tying to mess with you, Kook. It happens to all of us, all the time. It's nothing.
At home, Hobi and Yoongi wanted to make a celebratory dinner for them having finished up several different recordings all within a hard days work. Jin helped them cook while the three maknae's were hanging out with Namjoon. Taehyung noticed Jungkook seemed a little bit far off in his mind, considering to get his attention he'd have to poke him or say his name a bunch of times.
"Jeonggeuk-ah. Kookie. Jungkook!" Taehyung yelled.
"Hmm?" the maknae snapped out of his anxiety induced daze.
"It's your turn." Taehyung pointed to the board game they had been sitting around playing. "What's with you? It feels like something is wrong."
The maknae faked a yawn. "Sorry Taehyungie. I'm just a bit exhausted from all the work we did today."
Jimin leaned over and started rubbing his back. "Do you want me to get you some water?"
Jungkook shook his head no.
Namjoon also tried to help out. "I guess you should call it an early night tonight. On the bright side at least hyungs are making a nice dinner!"
This got a smile out of the youngest, he did enjoy a nice dinner. He excused himself to go to the bathroom and while he was in there his phone started ringing. This time it was from an unknown number. He was curious about who it was, and he knew if it was this same person who had been bothering him recently he'd sure love to give them a piece of his mind.
"Hello?" he answered. He didn't hear any voices on the other line. "Hello?" he asked again. When it was clear whoever was calling wasn't going to speak, he hung up. It must be a scam caller or one of those robocalls.
Within seconds of hanging up his phone rang again. With growing frustration, he tried to keep his voice down. "Hello?!" he whispered aggressively into the phone. He didn't want his hyungs to hear him.
This time instead of hearing silence, he heard heavy breathing.
"Who the hell is this?!" He could feel his hands start shaking again as his anger picked up when he was getting no response, only more heavy breathing.
"Listen if this is the person who keeps texting me shit about being my girlfriend and knowing where I live then knock it off already! Stop harassing me!"
More heavy breathing.
"If you don't leave me alone I am going to get my company and the cops involved because this is harassment! Oh! And not only them but also my hyungs, which you should be a lot more afraid of! Now leave me the hell alone already!" He hung up and took deep breaths in an attempt to collect himself before heading back out to play the game with his hyungs. He took a few minutes, splashing his face with water and cupping some in his hands to drink it.
After gaining his composure he went back out and acted as though nothing happened. His anxiety lightened up over the night after not receiving any more calls or texts and having a great dinner that the oldest three hyungs had cooked.
The next next day, he received more text messages. From yet another number. Why does this keep happening?! Blocking the numbers isn't working anymore, and was my threat not enough!?
These messages were a lot different.
And a lot scarier.
"If I can't have you nobody can."
"I will kill you."
"I told you I know where you live. I will find you while you're sleeping and kill you."
Jungkook felt a lump in his throat. He was starting to wonder if it was at the point where he should tell his hyungs he was getting increasingly threatening messages, but he still felt bad at the thought of burdening them with worry. He decided to still try and handle this himself. And for the first time he actually texted back.
"Fuck off. I'm calling the cops."
It was an empty threat, he wasn't really. At least not yet, anyway. He was hoping the multiple threats of getting the police involved would finally send this person flying.
And it did.
It had already been almost a week since the last incident and Jungkook was now on his way to completely forgetting about it. He figured it was just another flaw in the system. I knew these things happen sometimes. No need to worry about it. Some people are just crazy but they go away. He also couldn't help but feel proud of himself for handling it on his own. He felt like he'd really grown up knowing he didn't run to his hyungs for help the moment it happened. He was glad he didn't do something to bother them.
As the week came to an end, the members were all at home hanging out in the evening, excited for the weekend off. Yoongi was working on a grocery list for when they were to go shopping, but Jungkook was craving some of his favorite snacks right now.
"I'm just going to walk down to the market and pick up a few snacks to last until we go shopping!" Jungkook was already putting his jacket on ready to speed out the door.
"Wait!" Jin stopped him. Jungkook halted, figuring Jin was going to lecture him about being safe while walking around at night like he always did, but he was surprised when Jin had a different message.
"Get me some of my favorite jellies while you're out!" Jin wasn't asking, he was demanding.
Jungkook chuckled. "Sure thing, hyung." He was half way out the door when Jin screamed from behind him. "And be careful walking around at night! Call if you need anything!"
There it is.
"Got it hyung!" The maknae disappeared out the door on his way. He wasn't worried about the walk, it was only down to the corner and back and it was a walk he'd taken a million times since even before they debuted.
Meanwhile, Taehyung and Jimin were in their room playing video games. Jimin looked over and saw Jungkook's phone sitting on his bed. The two of them didn't know the maknae had even left home without it, so they weren't worried.
Feeling mischievous, Jimin grabbed the phone. He got Taehyung's attention and giggled as he discussed his great idea of changing the maknae's phone background to something absurd and stupid. As they were looking through his photos, a text message from a random number popped up. Taehyung clicked on it to see there had already been a string of messages from the number because Jungkook had never deleted them from the last time.
"What the hell?" Jimin whispered as they scrolled through the messages together.
"If I can't have you nobody can."
"I will kill you."
"I told you I know where you live. I will find you while you're sleeping and kill you."
"Fuck off. I'm calling the cops."
The last message, the one that recently popped up, read "Going somewhere?"
The two waited a second to see if another message would come through and it was a picture of Jungkook walking the street at night. They stared at it for a moment. "Isn't this what he's wearing right now?" Taehyung asked.
"But Jungkook is home so how would this be the same outfit?" Jimin wondered. They got up to go find their maknae and ask about the messages, but when they found the others their maknae was nowhere to be seen.
"Where's Jungkookie?" Taehyung asked. His breathing picked up.
"Oh he went down to the market to grab some snacks." Yoongi was unbothered as he was roaming through the cabinets seeing what else he needed to add to their grocery list.
More pictures of Jungkook started popping up, they were clearly taken from behind him and each image was a closer shot.
"I told you I would kill you."
"You're going to die tonight."
"I warned you."
Jimin started crying, he was instantly worried as all hell. "He's in trouble! I think he's in trouble! My maknae! We have to go get him!"
"What the hell are you freaking out about? He goes to the market all the time." Hobi reminded Jimin that it was really nothing of concern. Until he saw that Jimin and Taehyung had Jungkook's phone. "Why do you guys have that? He's supposed to take that with him when he goes out!"
"He must have forgotten it, but hyung! Look! Look! Someone has been threatening him and now they're sending him pictures of himself! Isn't this what he is wearing right now?!" Taehyung was clutching his chest, trying to calm his breathing before breaking down into a full panic attack. The rest of the hyungs ran and gathered around to see the messages and the pictures.
"Yes..that's...those pictures are being taken right now!" Namjoon was already running for the door. "We have to go! We have to go get him before he gets hurt!" All of them sprinted and were soon outside and to the car. It wouldn't have been a far walk, but they knew the car would be a lot faster.
Jungkook didn't even realize his phone wasn't on him. He felt carefree and enjoyed the fresh air of the cool night while he was walking to the market. He liked to take in how calm and quiet the city could be sometimes. He had rounded the corner , the market in clear sight, when he felt something bash into the back of his head. "Ow!" he screamed as he stumbled forward, clutching the back of his head in his hands. He felt another blow to the back of his head. This time he fell onto his knees, and then a third blow to his head came. He could feel blood trickling down it. His vision had gone blurry as his eyes welled with tears. He turned to see who had hurt him, but before he turned all the way he felt himself being grabbed and dragged into an alley. He tried fighting out of the persons grip as hard as he could, but his injured head made him too weak to do anything.
Once in the alley, his body was thrown down and against the side of a cold brick building. He whimpered in pain as his back smacked against it, knocking the wind out of him.
"Ah.." he whispered as he continued to clutch his head. He was finally able to look up as his vision cleared. A woman stood there, smiling and holding a gun. Although she was smiling he could tell she was angry. He had no idea who she was. It was someone he'd never seen in his life.
"Who the hell are-" he started, but then he saw the gun lift and point straight at his face. His entire body tensed up and went still as a rock. He sat there absolutely mortified. The only motion his body produced was the motion of his tears now spilling down his cheeks. What did I do wrong?
He bit his bottom lip as it started to quiver.
The woman began to speak as she pointed the gun at him. "I don't like being threatened, Jungkook."
He stared at her, too afraid to say a word or move for fear of that gun going off right in his face. Who the hell is this woman?! When did I threaten her?!
She continued. "I told you, if I can't have you then nobody can. I will make damn sure of that."
Oh. It's been this person?!
"Y-you?" Jungkook finally whispered.
Without hesitation, the woman smashed the gun into Jungkook's cheek. He let out an ear piercing shriek as he cradled his bleeding cheek in his hand. "S-stop.." he cried.
"I didn't say you could speak." The woman's tone was clearly threatening. She started talking about how they were going to get married and have kids, move away together, how he was going to leave the band to run away with her.
Jungkook couldn't believe the delusion. He started screaming for help, and he got hit in the face with the gun again.
"P-please stop. Y-You're crazy!" He screamed. He started wiping at his tears, in which the crying only made the back of his head throb even worse. His vision kept getting blurry again. The woman pointed the gun at his chest this time. "Now Jungkookie, it's rude to insult a woman. Especially your own wife."
He didn't know what to do. He knew if he said a single word she'd hurt him again or shoot and he didn't want either of those things to happen. If he got up and ran he knew he wouldn't get very far. He felt trapped and lost. He didn't want to know what happened next. He figured if anything, give her what she wanted for now. His hyungs would have to worry and come looking for him eventually.
They were both caught off guard when they heard a car screech to a halt past the alley, and then speed backwards, stopping right at the entrance. The maknae watched as all six of his hyungs frantically hopped out of the vehicle. He felt as if angels had just descended from the heavens to rescue him.
"Hyungs!" he cried.
"Kookie!" Jin screamed. The members started running towards him, but the woman pointed the gun at them instead. "No! Leave them alone!" the youngest shrieked.
Surprisingly to him, her pointing the gun at them didn't stop any of them from running straight towards her. They didn't care about getting shot, they cared about making sure Jungkook didn't get shot.
"Come any closer and I'll kill you!" The woman screamed. She stood in front of Jungkook, as if to make sure none of them could get to him.
Her threat was empty, as the six of them reached her and Hobi smacked the gun right out of her hand.
The rest of them were on the ground crying and screaming over Jungkook's injuries. His face and hands were covered in blood.
"My baby!" Jimin cried.
Jungkook completely broke down and embraced his hyungs warm hug, sobbing into his chest. Taehyung started screaming at the woman about the messages while Jin was busy punching the woman in the face.
He'd always vowed to never hurt a woman.
But this isn't woman, this is a monster, so I don't give a shit. "Nobody hurts my maknae! And I mean nobody!"
Hobi was staring at the gun on the ground and couldn't control himself. The anger inside him seeing someone hurt Jungkook took over. His body full of a murderous rage. He picked the gun up and pointed it at the woman's foot, and shot her.
She started screaming in pain and clutched her foot. "You motherfucking-"
Jungkook started screaming and crying in fear after hearing the gun go off, and the others held him tighter. None of them were even bothered by the fact Hobi just shot this woman. Yoongi stood over her. "Serves you right."
Hobi knelt down and got in the woman's face, gun still in hand. As she squirmed and withered in pain, he completely ignored her agony as he spoke to her. "I think you may have underestimated what that boys hyungs are capable of. We would kill for that boy." He started twirling the gun in his hands. "I could take this and kill you right now, but I'm sure you've learned your lesson, hm? Let this be a warning. And your only warning." He couldn't contain himself, he took the gun and shot her in the foot again. "Make it two warnings."
She screamed and started spewing profanities at them but also started apologizing over and over for what she did. "Please just stop shooting me!" she cried.
Namjoon, who was helping the others cuddle Jungkook, warned Hobi not to shoot again. Something about lawsuits.
Jin looked down at the woman. "I wouldn't worry about that, Joonie. We have good money for good lawyers. I'm sure she won't be a problem anymore, will she?" He continued to stare down at her. "And I'm sure you'll come up with a nice story about accidentally shooting yourself in the foot, huh?" He grabbed the gun from Hobi. "Unless you want a bullet through your head instead."
The woman frantically said she'd never bother Jungkook again and she swears to leave him alone and stop being delusion. "I will never be a problem anymore! I swear! I swear!"
Yoongi, Jin, and Hobi finally backed up. "Good," Hobi smiled. "Now I'm sure since you enjoy using your phone so damn much, you will have no trouble calling yourself some help."
The woman nodded saying she would, begging them to go.
And they did. Hobi took the gun and tossed it in the trash, saying it won't be needed anymore. The members picked up their sobbing maknae and got him in the car. He curled up in a ball in their laps in the back seat as he clutched his bleeding head.
"He needs to go to the hospital," Taehyung mentioned. Jin sped the car there. Their main worry was that Jungkook would need stitches and he probably had a concussion. They also saw how bad his cheek was bleeding and swollen, as well as his arms from having fallen.
They were right.
He needed stitches in the back of his head, and he had a pretty nasty concussion. He would have to remain in the hospital for a few days. They came up with the story that he'd fallen down an incredibly long flight of brick stairs, which he agreed to, so that's the story the doctors went with. They didn't exactly care to mention that Hobi had shot a woman in the foot twice after having attacked their little brother.
Once they were allowed back in his room, their hearts broke all over again.
"Oh...bun..." Yoongi cooed as he was the first to make his way over. Soon all of the members surrounded the youngest, who was sleeping.
Namjoon started running his fingers gently through his hair. "Our poor boy."
Taehyung and Jimin burst into tears. This was beyond their worst nightmare. It was for all of them. "I-is Koo-kookie going to be okay?" Taehyung was hyperventilating.
"I'm sure he will be alright, Taehyungie." Jimin pulled Taehyung into a hug. The noise woke the maknae up from his sleep. He smiled when he saw his hyungs.
"Hey, Kookie," Jin whispered softly. "How are you feeling?"
"Mmm..." Jungkook groaned. Not good. "My hear hurts."
"Yeah, I imagine it's going to for a while. You have quite the concussion." Jin caressed Jungkook's bruised cheek really, really carefully. He pulled away and had to wipe the wetness from his eyes.
"How did you guys know?" Jungkook didn't have time to ask questions before, but now that everything had calmed down, he still had no idea how his hyungs found him or even knew he was in danger.
Jin held Jungkook's phone up. "You forgot something at home."
"And Jimin started going through it." Taehyung told on Jimin, but Jimin defended himself. "Hey and it's a good thing I did, or else you'd be dead!"
Jungkook looked at the phone nervously.
"Don't worry. No weird messages from anyone," Yoongi reassured. "Why didn't you tell us someone was threatening you? That you were being stalked?"
The youngest shrugged. Then got sulky and tried explaining how he didn't want to be a bother to anyone.
"Incase you haven't noticed, we're literally here to protect you." Hobi still couldn't believe what he'd done, but it was Jungkook. He knew deep down he'd do absolutely anything, anything, for that boy.
All of the members started speaking a mile a minute about how he needs to tell them next time so they can make it stop before it ever gets this bad again. He promised he would. He asked about his injuries and Taehyung informed him of how the doctor said his concussion is pretty bad but it'll heal just fine given a lot of rest.
To make him feel even better, Namjoon pulled something out of his pocket. "While you were asleep we took a little trip."
Jungkook's eyes brightened when he saw the snacks he was originally going to the store for. "I figured you didn't exactly get very far," Namjoon said in a joking tone, trying to lighten the mood.
Jin decided to start teasing too. "And don't worry Kook-ah, I got my own jellies. Since you never want to listen to hyung and buy me things!"
This got a good laugh out of everyone.
Jungkook looked to Hobi. "I can't believe you actually shot her."
Hobi shrugged. "And I'd do it again."
"Angry Hobi is scary," Yoongi giggled.
"Do you think she'll come back? Or tell?" Jungkook worried. His hyungs weren't worried about it.
"I think she learned her lesson. And she knows the power we hold. I wouldn't worry about it." Namjoon was confident it wouldn't be a problem anymore.
He was correct. Jungkook had been out of the hospital and healed up for a few weeks now and he hadn't received a single text or phone call from anyone he didn't know. He knew that if it happened again, though, to immediately tell his hyungs because they'd proven themselves to be way more protective than he could have ever imagined. They had gotten a bit more overprotective lately and wouldn't let him do much on his own anymore, and they were constantly checking on his emotions in which he said he really was feeling okay.
He smiled thinking about how if it really came down to it, they'd probably kill for him if they had to. He had nothing to fear anymore.
Never underestimate the power of my protective hyungies.
{The End}
