Victoria's POV

After Tim arrested Alec, I helped Jaydan down the stairs. Not that he really needed the support, but more for my sake. The ambulance was already parked in front of the house and I helped Jaydan to the awaiting EMS. They started to give Jaydan a check up while I watched Alec being escorted to a police car.

He looked me straight in the eye and I couldn't decipher his look. Why did he do this? How can a person you see as your best friend do this to you? I didn't understand his reasoning. I thought we were finally getting our friendship back. But I was wrong.

I heard Jaydan groan before I turned towards him.

"Are you sure your feeling alright?" I asked Jaydan the millionth time as he sat at the back of the ambulance.

"Yes, I'm fine. You're here so I'm more than fine," he said before he gives me a kiss on the lips. I cherish the feeling because I thought I will never experience his kisses again.

When we pull away we both have silly expressions on our faces.

"How did you know it was Alec?" He asked curiously.

"Well I went to your office-"

"Vic-"

"I know, I had to sign some papers, but then I couldn't leave. Your memories were everywhere," he kisses me again.

"I'm here now and I'm not leaving," he said with a smirk. I give him a smile.

"Anyway, I saw the stalker's notes I have been receiving and trying to hide from you," I said with a knowing smile.

"What? I found out and I couldn't leave it there."

"I know, that is why I figured that the stalker must have known you found incriminating information. So I looked around and I saw that one of our pictures were skew-"

"You seriously have a thing against skew pictures," he said teasingly before I hit him playfully. Reminding me of our first case together.

"As I was saying, I found the skew picture and as I was fixing it I found your memory stick taped behind it. I opened it and found the video. Alec was there that day you shot the White Hawk and saved me. He was hiding behind some crates." Jaydan nodded solemnly.

"How did he know you knew?" I asked.

"I asked his mother strange questions and I guess he figured it out. He must have tampered with my brakes because next thing I know a car drives straight at me and as I turned out of the way I headed straight into the direction of the river and my brakes didn't work and I plunged into the river. I was trapped in the car the water was pouring in and I had no way out. Then I saw someone break the glass and everything turned black. I woke up in that room with Alec smiling at me," he said. I grab him into a hug.

"I'm so sorry," I whispered.

He pulls away before placing his hands on my cheeks, "You have nothing to be sorry about. Alec is responsible and I hate that he tore us apart like this. I hate that he caused you so much grief."

"I'm just glad you're here now," I said as I kiss him again. 

"Me too," he said in mid kiss

"Awww!!!" We hear from beside us and as I look up it's our parents. I groan before I hid my face in his chest that was rumbling with a chuckle. As my mother and his parents gush over him asking if he is okay, my father pulls me aside.

"Alec wants to talk to you. He says he will only speak after he talked to you." I nodded before I turned to Jaydan.

"Alec wants to talk to me.  I will visit you later," I said before I grabbed him in a hug once more.

"Okay, be safe," he said before I asked one of the the officers to take me to the police station where Alec is currently being held.

Once I entered the police station everyone congratulated me on finding Jaydan and the drugleader everyone has been searching for years. After they arrested Alec that searched through his house and found his whole system in the basement. There was cooking equipment and everything a drug dealer needed.

Tom, one of the officers escorted me to the interrogation room where Alec was currently waiting. Tom asked me if he should go with me, but I just shook my head. I can face my problems alone this time knowing Jaydan was safe and sound.

Alec was tapping his fingers against the table in agitation as he waited for me. When I closed the door with a bit of force, he looked up.

"Victoria, you came," he sounded astonished.

"You don't want to speak with the other detectives before you spoke with me. So here I am. What do you want?" I said harshly. I couldn't hide my disdain for this man.

"I know you hate me now. And I know you are trying to understand why I did what I did. But you must understand, Jaydan took everything away from me! He took away my opportunity to get my revenge on the White Hawk and then he stole you away from me. I won't tell them what I know about the Shadow, for you. But just know that I'm not doing this for Jaydan. I'm doing this for you. All I ask of you is that you ask him to tell you the truth about his past and then you can be done with me." I looked at him for a moment before I nodded my head.

"Goodbye, Alec," I said before I walked out the door leaving my childhood friend behind. The one who betrayed me and took away everything that I hold dear.

"What did he want?" Tim asked when I quickly finished my report at my desk after my 'heart to heart' with Alec.

"Just that he will confess, and that he was sorry and that he was jealous of Jaydan. He did this for revenge and because he apparently loves me. Do you mind submitting my report? I want to visit Jaydan," I asked.

"Yes, of course go. You got him back, go be with him," I thanked him. I quickly left the building to find a taxi. I left my car at my apartment when I went to Jaydan's office. I didn't trust myself to drive. The taxi dropped me at my apartment and after paying him I quickly grabbed my keys before driving off to Jaydan.

A few minutes later I stopped in front of the mansion of a house. Detective Stevenson's car was in the drive. Just as I was about the knock, Alexander opened the door for Detective Stevenson.

"Ah, Victoria. Great job!" I gave him my thanks before he shouted a see you later and Alexander led me to Jaydan's apartment in the house. Alexander knocked and we heard a 'come in' before Alexander opened the door for me.

Jaydan was wearing jeans and T-shirts while he was watching TV. Everything looked normal.

"Vic! You're here. How did it go with Alec?" He asked as he came over to hug me before leading me back to the couch where we sat down.

"Fine. He is going to confess to everything."

"And the Shadow?" Jay asked.

"He doesn't know anything about it. He won't tell them for my sake," I said as I played with my thumbs.

"That's good news. But why aren't you happy about it?" He asked. I knew what was coming and what I had to do, but I couldn't.

"Because he asked me to do something," I said after a long pause.

"What?"

"To ask you to tell me the truth," I said simply.

"The truth about what?" He asked with a frown.

"Jay, I heard what Alec said. I heard him say something about you killing someone and disappearing for two years. Something about beating someone to death. What did he talk about?" I asked.

Jaydan tensed before he stood up from his position.

"Vic-"

"Don't Vic me. Tell me the truth!"

"I don't want you to know the truth!" He said as he dragged his hands through his hair.

"Why not?" I aksed incredulously.

"To pro-"

"Don't even say to protect me. This is just like the time when you didn't want to tell me who you were behind your Shadow mask."

"I did that to protect you," he stated.

"And how did that turn out? Huh? Me being kidnapped and then shot? That was great protection." I spat as tears started to pour down my cheeks.

"I did what I thought would protect you!" He said.

"And now keeping this truth from me will protect me? How will lying to me protect me?"

"I never lied! I only hid the truth because I love you and your better off not knowing the truth at all."

"If you love me, you will tell me the truth," I said.

Jaydan turned towards me, his eyes were sad.

"I can't tell you the truth," he said.

I took my ring off my finger and placed it on the coffee table, "And I can't marry someone who won't be honest with me."

I said before I turned on my heels and left out the door while the tears were trailing down my cheeks.

Alexander looked disgruntled when he saw me before he opened the door for me. I climbed in my car let out a sob before I sped off to who knows where.
