I waited outside in the cold rain. I watched as Mr. Lakewood packed the bags into Lucas car. Mr. And Mrs. Lakewood are going to take their own vehicle, while the rest of us ride in Lucas car. I haven't seen Lucas or his friend, which I have learned his name is Alex. Jackie came walking out of the door with her suitcase. She set it beside her dad and quickly ran to stand next to me under the poarch. The rain was pouring down and it didn't give any sign of letting up soon. I felt bad that Mr. Lakewood was outside in the rain by himself but he told us that he didn't want us getting all wet and sick. He wouldn't even let us help him. So I watched as he struggled to fit in the last bag.

"I really hope it stops raining. Are tents water proof?" She turned to look at me with a goofy grin.

"Let's hope." I turned back around to look at Mr. Lakewood who had finally gotten the last bag in the trunk.

A loud noise made me and Jackie turn around. It was a young man who looked around Lucas age. He had stumbled down the stairs but didn't fall. He had a wide smile on his face. He had blonde hair that almost fell over his bright blue eyes. He had two dimples and tan skin. He was tall but it didn't matter because he was fit.

He looked around at the scene and finally saw the two of us standing on the pourch. He looked at us and started to walk towards us. I didn't smile back at him or wave. Jackie nudge my side and smiled towards the boy. "Hey Alex. This is my friend Clare." He turned to face me and flashed a charming smile my way. He winked at me and scanned me over.

I rolled my eyes at his action. He didn't seem to notice my eye roll and continued to try and flirt with me." Well, aren't you a sight for soar eyes." I lifted up my right eyebrow at him.

"Stop trying Romeo." At my comment his smile turned from a charming smile to a genuine one.

He laughed for a moment before replying. "Guess that makes you my Juliet." I smiled at him while shaking my head.

Jackie looked at me then back at Alex. She held a smirk on her face. "Okay, I have no idea what to say. Where's Lucas, Alex ?" He shrugged his shoulders and pointed towards inside the house.

I didn't want to see him. I don't know what I'm suppose to say to him. The phone call last night confused me. What am I suppose to say to Lucas after that call? The last thing I want to do is even look at Lucas. I don't want to explain to him how I knew Jacob.

"Okay I think we are good to go. Alex can you go find Lucas for me please." Mr. Lakewood opened the door for me and Jackie to get in the car. Alex went back inside to go find Lucas.

The camp was a hour from here. I've been there once with Sid and Kora but it was a long time ago. It was a different kind of camp site. All the campers and tents were in the woods next to a lake, but next to it were stores and arcades to go into. Jackie told me she planned on trying to find herself a cute guy, I just rolled my eyes and laughed at her.

I looked out the window to see Lucas, Alex, and Jackies father talking on the pourch. I looked over Lucas and instantly I felt nervous. He looked like he did last time I saw him. He nodded at something his father was saying and looked towards the car. We made eye contact and stared at each other. His green eyes looked like they could see right threw me and all my secrets. I shivered. I broke the tension by looking away. It felt to familiar, and it made my stomach twist in disgust.

I looked back at Jackie but she looked like she had fallen asleep. Her hair was in her face and her mouth was open looking like she was drooling. I snickered at her and turned my attention back to the guys who had started walking towards the car. My breath hitched as Lucas and I made eye contact. He quickly looked away. What is going on?

The two boys got into the car. Lucas started the car up and followed Mr. Lakewood onto the road. I didn't speak, Jackie was asleep, and Lucas didn't talk. I laid back and closed my eyes listening to the hum of the car. The silence was awkward and uncomfortable. It was hard to close my eyes when the annoying feeling of this awkward silence kept me awake. I tried to rest my head on the window but it didn't help any.

I opened my eyes when I realized that I can't fall asleep like Jackie. I looked out the window and watched as houses went by. I was surprised to see that the rain let up to just sprinkle. I felt a tap on my shoulder, I turned to see Alex turned around and leaning over the council. I raised both my eyebrows up waiting for him to say something.

He didn't say anything but flash me a cheesy smile. I gave him a small smile before looking back out the window. I felt him tap me again. "What?" He looked at me for a minute before speaking. His voice was dark. It wasn't oddly dark for his age, just dark enough to make him even more handsome.

"You know, you and Lucas can switch tents and you can stay in my tent. I mean, I'm a really good cuddler." He lifted his eyebrows up in a disgusting manner. I rolled my eyes and smirked at him.

"No thanks I'm good." I winked at him and he let out a short laugh.

"Are you turning down all of this?" He pointed to himself and made a charming smile.

"All of what?" I crossed my arms and looked out the window. A slight smile was making its way to my face.

"Ouch. I don't think I will ever be the same again." He made a fake hurt expression while placing his hand on his heart.

"I'm sure you can find another girl at the camp who will fall for your smile." He nodded his head and smirked at me.

"I'm not gonna get anywhere with you am I?"

"Did you really think you would?" I asked him rolling my eyes.

"No, but it's pretty quiet in here. I've got to do something to pass the time." He shrugged his shoulders letting go of the act.

I didn't get to anwser Alex back because Lucas had inturupted me. "You could just shut the hell up and look out the window Your giving me a fucking headache." Alex didn't seem taken back by Lucas suddan rude comment.

"I could, but then I wouldn't get to talk to this pretty girl right here." He smiled at Lucas. I groaned out loud and ran my fingers threw my hair.

"Are you done yet?" I asked looking at Alex from the corner of my eye.

"Yeah, I'm done now. So have you ever been to this camp ground before?" I nodded my head. The houses soon disappeared and the only thing you could see were trees. The rain had completely stoped.

"Someone's a chatty Kathy." I closed my eyes and rested my head on my arm.

"Sorry I'm not Mr. Loud Mouth like you." I opend one of my eyes at him to see he was smiling. He turned back around to face the front.

After that the car ride didn't seem as awkward. But still I wanted to ask Lucas about Jacob, but at the same time I didn't. I don't want to think about Jacob, much less talk about him. Jacob is something I just push aside until I have to talk about him. The things he did to me were awful. And I don't see why he had to do any of them. It was his own free will.

I opend my eyes when we stoped. I looked over to see Alex texting someone and Jackie still sleeping. I looked up at the road to see there was a road block. My eyes roamed around the car and I couldn't help them from landing on Lucas. Something was strange about him. I could feel it deep inside my bones.

It shocked me how Alex could just push aside Lucas mood like nothing. Alex seemed like an energetic, happy college guy, like nothing could ever beat him. He wasn't anything like Lucas. But I'm nothing like Jackie so I guess it doesn't suprise me that much.

The car started to move and we passed the construction. "So you know Jacob?" I looked up to see Lucas talking to me. It took me a moment for me to figure out what he had asked. His face remained on the road.

"Yeah, I guess." I tried to avoid the conversation by replying with a short anwser. He made a sarcastic snort and I could see him roll his eyes in the mirror.

"You guess?" I could practically feel the mock in his words.

"I use to know him." I replied irritated. Jacob was a touchy topic for me and I don't expect Lucas to understand. I glared at him before I turned back around to look out the window.

He didn't reply and I was thankful for that. Soon enough we pulled onto a long dirt road. There was a sign that told us we were entering the camp site. We stoped at a booth and a lady handed us a sticker to put on the car. She wore bright tacky red lipstick and wore her hair up high. She wore a tan uniform that had a ketchup stain above the left breast. She was a young lady. She scanned the car over and gave us a bored look. She didn't smile or even speak.

Lucas stuck the sticker onto his windshield and followed Mr. Lakewood to our site. There were little to no people here. It looked like it had just freshly rained.

We pulled into our site which was right next to the lake but still in the trees. I nudged Jackie awake. She got up slowly mumbling something I couldn't understand. I got out of the car along with Alex and Lucas.

Mrs. Lakewood handed me the pecies to Jackies and my tent. She told me to see it in a dry place. I have never put up a tent before so I decided on standing next to the two boys who were already looping the stick threw the holes. They didn't notice me standing next to them so I turned back to the car. Jackie was just opening the door and walking out. She rolled her eyes at me and grabbed the bag with the pieces.

She dumped it out and quickly started to loop the long stick into the holes. When it started to pop up more she handed me a small hammer and four big pieces of metal to stick into the ground so the tent wouldn't fly away. Jackie went to the car and pulled out both of our bags. She set them inside the tent. When we were done we turned around to see everyone else standing next to the fire pit talking. We decided to join in on the conversation.

"So does that sound fine?" Mr. Lakewood asked Lucas and Alex as if they were little kids.

"Does what?" Jackie piped up in a rough voice, still trying to wake up fully.

"We are going to the store to buy dry fire wood and food to cook over the fire for dinner. We will be back soon. Is that okay?" Jackie along with Alex nodded their heads. I looked down at the ground and put my hands in my pocket.

Mr. And Mrs. Lakewood got into their truck and drove in the direction the stores were in. They could walk there, but it would be hard carrying firewood and food back. I turned to look in the direction of the lake. There were no waves, it looked peaceful.
As soon as they left Alex turned around with a mischievous grin. Jackie gave him a confused look and took a step back. "What the hell are you thinking Alex?" Jackie crossed her arms.

The sun was starting to go down causing the lake to turn pink and orange. I sat down on the wet log beside me. Jackie followed my action and sat down next to me. I looked up to see Lucas also giving him a confused glare. No one had anymore time to ask questions because he quickly grabbed Jackie and slung her over his shoulder like nothing. He darted towards the water. She tried to yell and kick him but to no avail. He ran off the deck and splashed into the water.

I started to laugh when they both got up to the surface and Jackie started to punch and yell at him. Alex didn't seem conserned by it, he could only focus on laughing. "Clare, Lucas what the hell is wrong with you guys? Thanks for the damn help!" Jackie turned and yelled at us. The two started to splash each other. Jackie jumped on Alex and tried to push him under the water.

I laughed at them and decided to join them in the water. I turned to Lucas and saw him smiling. I think it was the first time I saw him smile. He looked like a completely different Lucas. His smile was soft and simple, but it was something else. Something I just couldent explain. It didn't show a stone cold guy, but a guy who looked like he had no worries. He cought me staring and his smile faded. He looked away and crossed his arms.

"Come on." He turned to look at me. I smiled at him and nudged my head towards the water. "Don't worry, it won't bite." I started walking towards the water backwards. He rolled his eyes and sat down on the log I was sitting on.

"No thanks." He glared at me and crossed his arms again. His eyes stared right into mine.

"What scared of getting a little wet?" He rolled his eyes while I smirked and continued to walk back slowly.

"I'm not going to do stupid shit. Sorry I'm not going in the water." He replied with a sarcastic smile. I put my hands on my hips and looked at him.

"Look buddy, this is going to be a long four days if your going to act like this. So can you do me a favor?" He raised his eyebrows up and looked at me. He wore a bored expression. "Put a damn smile on your face and at least pretend you want to be here. Can you do that and stop acting like an ass?" I turned around and walked up towards the deck. I'm not going to try and convince him anymore. He obviously doesn't care.

"Your fucking annoying." I turned around to look at him following behind me with a furious expression. I shrugged my shoulders at him.

"And you are an asshole." I muttered. Lucas snorted from behind me.

When we got at the end of the dock I saw Jackie and Alex were pretending to be synchronized swimmer's. I smiled and started to take my shoes off. I pulled my left shoe off. I went to take my other shoe off but suddenly I fell forward into the water.

I was suprised what was happening at first. The water was cold. I flailed my arms around and swam up to the surface. Lucas had pushed me into the water. When I opened my eyes I saw the face of Lucas smirking. Jackie was laughing and Alex looked suprised. I spit water out and gasped for air. I grabbed onto the side of the dock. I looked up and glared at Lucas.

He crouched down to me. His face was right in front of mine. His smirk didn't drop for a second. "I'm smiling now." His voice was deadly calm, it but shivers in my spine.

I rolled my eyes at him and droped back down into the water.
