Alex had started at the BigHit company last week. He was one of their new choreographers. He was of American descent, but moved to Seoul as a teenager after studying abroad in the country. He loved it so much he decided to stay. Never did he think he'd have the opportunity to actually be working with BTS.
Taehyung and Alex didn't get along since day two. Day one was okay, but day two wasn't the best. Alex seemed hard on Taehyung about his dancing. He was never hard on anyone else. He was especially always praising Hobi. He noticed that Alex was also always praising Jungkook to the highest degree. Not even in just his dancing, but in everything he did, everything he wore, absolutely everything. It made Taehyung feel weird. Taehyung didn't want to admit he was jealous but he could see Alex and Jungkook forming a friendship and he felt like he was being replaced a little bit. Alex was always spending extra time with Jungkook, they'd even hang out in Jungkook's studio together sometimes. Taehyung pouted to Jungkook one day about feeling a little replaced and Jungkook made sure to let his hyung know that wasn't the case and nothing like that would ever happen.
"Alex seems to really only like you, he doesn't spend extra time with any of the rest of us," Taehyung pointed out.
"I don't know why but you guys are more than welcome to hang out too," Jungkook had pointed out. Taehyung said he didn't even want to. Jungkook told him that if he wasn't going to do anything to fix the problem he was facing then to stop complaining about it. So Taehyung stopped.
He wasn't shy about not liking Alex either. Whenever Alex would yell at him during dance practice the second maknae would just roll his eyes and huff, usually replying with "Yeah, okay, whatever." One time he even spat out "Sorry I can't live up to your perfectionist standards like Jungkookie can." The other members gasped at that statement and Jin yelled at him to not be rude.
It wasn't just that Alex was favoring his only dongsaeng that made Taehyung not like him, or the fact he was a plain jerk, but something about Alex seemed off and he couldn't figure out what. He just thought it was really weird that Alex only ever cared to hang out with Jungkook and when invited to hang out with the others it was always a "No thanks." Taehyung figured if Alex really cared to be friends with the youngest he should care to be friends with all of them. They were a group of seven brothers. It didn't make sense to him.
Taehyung was starting to hate dance practice completely. Thankfully his hyungs did notice that Alex was a bit harsh on him and Hobi often came to his defense saying that Taehyung was doing a great job. He was thankful that his hyungs were defending him because he noticed that Jungkook never did lately. Alex would even inquire of Jungkook after yelling at Taehyung. "He missed the steps, right Kookie?"
"I don't know," Jungkook would say as he gave nervous glances between the two. That was another thing that was making Taehyung angry. Alex was starting to call his maknae Kookie. That was something only the members themselves called him and it was frustrating to him that Alex had gotten so comfortable so quickly. He was practically still a stranger to them. Taehyung felt like the man had no right. He couldn't help but feel a little overprotective when it came to Jungkook and Alex. He didn't like the idea of them hanging out or getting close but he never really understood why he felt that way either. He just didn't trust him for some reason, although the man hadn't given him any reason not to. He really was nothing but nice to Jungkook. Taehyung felt like maybe he was a little too nice to the youngest which was what made him think things were a bit off.
After another three weeks, Alex and Jungkook had become the best of friends. Alex was now even coming over to the dorm to hang out but again only ever spent his time with Jungkook. Even when Jungkook would mention them including his hyungs in their plans or games they'd play Alex usually said he'd rather just the two of them hang out. Taehyung got pretty upset one night when Alex and the maknae were playing a game on the XBox and Alex was using Taehyung's account to play.
"What the hell?" Taehyung asked when he noticed, "Make your own damn account Alex. Don't pretend to be me!"
"Sorry hyungie it was just easier to set it up this way," Jungkook answered for his friend without taking his eyes off of the TV.
"I don't care. He can't use my account."
"C'mon TaeTae, don't be a jerk," Alex chuckled.
"First of all don't you ever call me TaeTae again. Second of all, I'm not being a jerk! I just don't want you using my account! You never asked me!!" Taehyung yelled.
"Hyung will you calm down? It's just a game!" Jungkook shot back as he paused the game.
"Maybe I should leave. Taehyung seems to be on his period or something," Alex smirked. Jungkook tried to hide a chuckle, "You don't have to go."
Taehyung felt the anger coursing through his chest. He wanted to throw Alex out the damn window if he could. He was absolutely sick of the man. He'd come out of nowhere and was intruding on his entire life. Now he had the nerve to make snarky comments too? Taehyung couldn't stand him anymore.
"Yes, he does have to go," Taehyung said sternly enough for the other two to realize there was no question about it. Alex was to leave. He got up and handed Jungkook the controller, "See you guys at work." He left immediately.
Jungkook stood up, "I don't get it. What the hell is your problem lately?"
"Alex is my problem. And apparently you are now too!" Taehyung spat.
"How am I a problem?!"
"You told me you weren't going to replace me and you've done nothing but spend the last month with him and now you're even letting him use my accounts?!"
"Oh, so that's what this is about? You're jealous that I've made another friend that isn't you?"
"I'm not jealous!" Taehyung lied, he was a bit jealous. He was also angry, "You've made a friend with someone who is a complete asshole to me half the time and that's not fair! I don't care if you make other friends but why does it have to be him?! I don't know why he always wants to hang out with only you so much but don't you think it's weird?!"
"How is it weird?! We get along well, that's all there is to it!"
"But he's a jerk! Especially to me! He's always a jerk to me at work now and you never even stick up for me anymore. It's like you're always taking his side with everything so he stays your friend. Who is more important, me or him?"
"That's not a fair question. I don't take anyone's side. You're both my friend. I care about both of you. You're both important."
"But who is more important?"
Jungkook crossed his arms, "If you're going to act like a jealous little brat, then maybe I should say it's him!"
Taehyung felt tears forming in his eyes. That definitely wasn't the answer he was expecting. He felt his heart starting to crack apart. He thought Jungkook would simply say the answer was him.
"You're really going to act like that? I've been your hyung for years...you've known him for a month!" Taehyung pouted.
"Well he's been being a better friend than you! All you've done lately is try to fight with me and you wonder why I don't spend as much time with you!"
"How have I been trying to fight?!"
Jungkook threw his arms up in the air like it should be obvious, "Look at you right now! You're doing it right now! You're standing here yelling at me just for having other friends!"
"That's not why I'm mad! I just said I don't care if you have other friends I just wish it wasn't Alex!" Taehyung screamed at him.
"I can be friends with whoever I want to be friends with and you know what? I can also not be friends with whoever I don't want to be friends with so maybe you and I shouldn't even be fuckin friends anymore, Kim Taehyung! You've been nothing but a dick the past month anyway, I can see why Alex is such a damn jerk to you all the time! You deserve it!"
Taehyung felt his chest completely flood with the rage he'd been trying to suppress. He completely burst. "Fuck you Jungkook!" Taehyung screamed at his maknae. He smacked him directly across the face leaving an instant red handprint on his maknae's cheek. Jungkook stared at him wide eyed and silent as he cupped his stinging cheek in his hand. Taehyung watched the tears fall from Jungkook's eyes. Taehyung took a step towards him as he filled with instant regret, "Oh no...Kookie I didn't mean to.."
"Get the hell away from me!" Jungkook spat as he shoved Taehyung and ran out of the bedroom. The rest of the hyungs were asleep already so nobody heard the fighting or the fact that Jungkook just slammed the front door closed behind him as he ran out. Taehyung chased after him out the door, "Wait! Jungkookie wait! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to hit you!" Taehyung was also a crying mess.
Jungkook was far ahead of him, "Stay the fuck away from me! Just stay away from me!" he screamed behind him without turning around.
"Please! Stop! I'm sorry!" Taehyung screamed. Jungkook was a much faster runner than him and was quickly disappearing into the night, "Jungkook stop!" he screamed again. He lost Jungkook around a corner. His anxiety picked up when he couldn't find his maknae anywhere. It was dark out, the middle of the night, and he knew Jungkook was upset. He didn't like this situation at all. He just wanted them to both be home safely. He felt absolutely terrible. He didn't mean to actually hit Jungkook, it just happened. He'd never done that before. They'd never fought like that before and it was breaking his heart even more wondering if anything would ever be the same again after a fight like this.
"Kookie?! Bunny?!" Taehyung yelled into the night as he searched for his missing dongsaeng. Where the hell did he go?! He didn't understand why Jungkook would run so far away and even choose to disappear. He knew the boy was angry but was he unaware of how dangerous this could end up?
"JUNGKOOK?!??" Taehyung screamed again. He tried to wait and listen to see if Jungkook would reply but got nothing.
"JUNGKOOK-AH!?!?!?" he'd yell again while making his way down more streets. The streets were quiet. It was late and everyone was home asleep. Taehyung felt nervous himself being out in the middle of the night alone like this but no way was he just going to leave Jungkook to be lost somewhere out there. Taehyung's ears perked up when he heard a voice yelling. He stood for a moment to get a better listen.
He heard what sounded like a male screaming, "Stop! No! Leave me alone! Let go of me! HELP! HELP! TAEHYUNG HELP!"
Taehyung immediately realized it was Jungkook screaming for help. Oh no, oh no. Maknae!!
"JUNGKOOK!!!' Taehyung screamed as he started sprinting towards where he heard the cries coming from. He rounded a corner and saw Jungkook being pinned to the ground by a man wearing all black who also had a black ski mask on. He had his hand pried over Jungkook's mouth to keep him from screaming and he was trying to rip Jungkook's shirt off.
"Hey what the fuck do you think you're doing?! Get off of him!!" Taehyung screamed as he ran towards them. He saw Jungkook trying to kick his way out from underneath the guy but he wasn't getting anywhere. The man took his hand off Jungkook's mouth and used it to try and undo the belt the maknae was wearing. Jungkook started kicking harder, "Stop it! Stop it!" he screamed, "Get off of me! Please!" Jungkook looked and could see Taehyung running towards them. "Hyung! Hyung! Help!"
Taehyung threw himself on top of the guy, toppling them both onto the ground. Jungkook sat up and frantically crawled backwards as he tried to calm his breathing down. He was sure he was going to have a heart attack with how fast his heart was beating.
"What the hell do you think you're doing to him?!" Taehyung screamed as he started throwing punches left and right straight into the guys head. Jungkook sat up against a fence bawling his eyes out as he watched his hyung punch the guy. Taehyung grabbed the ski mask and ripped it off the man.
"ALEX?!" Both Taehyung and Jungkook screamed in unison.
"Get the fuck off of me Taehyung!" Alex screamed. He tried to sit up but Taehyung shoved him straight back down into the concrete, "What the hell is wrong with you you pervert!??!"
Jungkook cried even harder. He didn't understand what was going on. Alex was supposed to be his friend. They'd hung out so much and Alex was never anything but nice to him. Nothing made sense.
Alex was able to push Taehyung off him and he went flying backwards landing with a loud thud on the ground.
"Hyung!" Jungkook cried. He was going to get up to help but Taehyung yelled that he was fine and to stay where he was. Taehyung got up to his feet and him and Alex started shoving eachother and Taehyung had Alex back on the ground, "You were trying to hurt him!" Taehyung screamed, "That was your plan this entire time, wasn't it!?You only wanted to get close enough to hurt him!" Taehyung had tears pouring down his face. He was so heartbroken for Jungkook. Alex started screaming at him that he should stick to minding his own business and him and Jungkook's relationship had nothing to do with him.
"Nothing to do with me?! He's my little brother! I'm supposed to protect him from people like you! And God knows I've been fuckin trying ever since you showed up! What did you think was going to happen? That you could just hurt him and not get caught?! Stay the hell away from Jungkookie! Stay the hell away from all of us! I'm calling the police Alex!" Taehyung screamed. Alex grabbed Taehyung's arms and slammed him sideways into the ground. He let out a whimper of pain as Alex got up and began sprinting down the street.
"Taehyung!" Jungkook cried. He was absolutely terrified. On top of that, seeing Taehyung protect and defend him made him feel absolutely terrible about the mean things he'd said and how badly he'd been treating Taehyung ever since Alex showed up. Taehyung was just trying to be protective like he always was. He realized he should have known from the start that Taehyung was always right about people.
"I'm fine," Taehyung said as he got up. He ran to Jungkook and anxiously began inspecting him all over for injuries, "Are you hurt? Was I too late? Did he hurt you?!" Jungkook grabbed Taehyungs shirt and pulled him into a hug, "You weren't too late," he whimpered, "I'm okay." The two hugged eachother tightly and sobbed together for quite a while.
"I'm so sorry," Jungkook finally spit out. Taehyung rubbed his back, "Don't be." He backed up and looked at Jungkook's face. It was dark, but he could see the fingerprint bruises forming on his cheek. The ones he had put there not even an hour ago. He thought he was going to be sick. He ran his thumb gently over them and wiped Jungkook's tears, "I'm the one who needs to be sorry. I'm so sorry. I never meant to yell at you or hit you. I love you a lot I don't know why I did that but even if I was angry I shouldn't have."
"It's okay..I should have listened to you. You knew something was off about Alex for a long time. I'm sorry I didn't listen," Jungkook cried.
"It's not your fault. None of us knew he'd do something like this, not even me. If he ever comes near you again he'll be sleeping in the dirt!" Taehyung mentioned how he still planned to tell the police and how he was going to Bang PD first thing in the morning to let him know what happened. Taehyung pulled Jungkook back into a hug and squeezed him tightly.
"You're more important. The answer will always be you," Jungkook whispered. Taehyung let deeper tears spill down his cheeks in silence. A gust of wind came and Taehyung felt Jungkook shiver in his arms, "We should get home," he told his maknae.
The two got up and walked home with their arms wrapped around eachother. Both kept an eagle eye lookout for any sign of Alex and let out sighs of relief when they made it home safely. Their hyungs were all still fast asleep. They both got into their pajamas and curled up in bed together. Taehyung kept apologizing for hitting Jungkook and the youngest kept telling him he was forgiven, although Taehyung couldn't seem to forgive himself. He kept asking Jungkook if he was sure he was okay and not hurt and if he wanted to talk about it at all but his maknae simply said he was fine and too tired, he'd rather just go to bed. Taehyung kissed his bruised cheek, "Okay. Goodnight."
They lay silent for a moment until Jungkook started crying again. Taehyung tucked him under the blanket and hugged him, "What is it? Talk to me."
"I love you hyung," Jungkook cried. That was really all he had left to say and he needed to make sure Taehyung knew it.
"I love you too, bunny."
