Jon’s POV
I was still mad at myself for giving into Lina and telling her where I we were going but at lest I did a good job at covering it up by acting upset that she had already been to the town where we were headed; I know that she felt bad about feeling like she ruined the surprise but really she didn’t have any idea about what I had planned. Sure she knew what town we were going to but she had no idea what we were going to do once we got that, she also didn’t know that I had the keys to her families cabin and planned on staying there with her the whole weekend. I was excited about being able to spend a weekend alone with her; it seemed like we never really got much time alone at home, there was always someone around, whether it was family, farm hands or friends.
When we first got into town we stopped at a restaurant and had a quick lunch before walking together through the historic district of the town; there were tons of old buildings and streets set up to resemble somewhat of what would be considered an old western town. We made our way around town taking in the scenes including a huge stone clock tower that had a plaque in front explaining the history of the town; we walked down towards the lake and spent some time on a pier watching the boats come in and out of the docks around us. After watching the sunset from the pier we went back into town and had a nice dinner together; finally conversation was flowing back and forth without effort and it couldn’t have felt better spending time with Lina.
“You want to show me the cabin now?” I asked as we left the restaurant.
“At night? Wouldn’t you rather see it in the morning, and shouldn’t we get checked in wherever were staying?” She asked.
“Well I have the rest of the weekend already planned out and our reservations are already all set for where were staying. I brought some flashlights if it’s too dark to see when we get there.” I offered hoping that she wouldn’t put up much more of a fight about going to the cabin; I wanted to make it as much of a surprise as I could that we were staying there but if she didn’t agree to go I didn’t know how I would hide the fact that we would be staying at the cabin without her getting suspicious on the drive out there.
“Ok, let’s go.” She replied seeming to get a little more excited about going to see it.
We got back in the truck and I let her drive knowing she would know the way there and not wanting to hint that I had already looked up the directions in case she didn’t want to drive there and I had to find it myself. I could almost see her excitement grow the closer we got to the cabin and I would be lying if I said that mine wasn’t too; I had no idea what to expect when we got there but I wasn’t disappointed in the least bit when we arrived. When the truck came to a stop it was complete silence in the cab as we both took in the immaculate structure in front of us; we didn’t have to worry about lighting because it seemed like the entire property was lit up with street lights hanging from posts and most of the lights in the home had been turned on. I had to think that Thomas had somehow arranged this for us; I wouldn’t think that they left all the lights on in the place year round while they weren’t there.
In front of us stood a two story all wood log cabin with an expansive wrap around deck; all the wooden pillars holding up the covered deck were intricately carved in the shapes of different animals, everything ranging from birds to wolves. The deck was lighted too and outside of the front door there was a set of chairs and tables along with a porch swing connected to the overhang above the deck. I looked over at Lina to see that she was smiling from ear to ear, that same smile that took my breath away every time it crossed her face; she took her eyes off of the cabin and looked over at me before speaking.
“Did you plan this?” She asked, the smile never leaving her lips.
“You’re dad might have helped a little.” I admitted and next thing I know she was throwing off her seatbelt and pulling me in for a hug.
“Thank you! This means so much to me; I missed this place so much.” She said tightly holding onto me; it was a better reaction than I could have ever expected. I thought that she would be happy to come back here but I never expected her to be as happy as she was.
“You’re welcome.” I replied right before she pulled out of the hug and jumped out of the truck like the thing was on fire; she was already up to the porch before I even had time to get out of the truck.
“It’s locked.” She yelled out sounding a little disappointed.
“Try these.” I said tossing her the keys before heading back to the truck to unload our luggage.
It took me three trips to get everything out of the truck and by the time I came back in with the last load Lina was gone, off exploring the cabin; I took in everything around me for the first time since we arrived and if I thought the outside was beautiful the inside was twice as spectacular. The walls were the same log surface as the outside, all the furniture made of similar natural wood; it was like living outside with all the convinces of living indoors. There was a large natural stone fireplace along one wall surrounded by chairs and loveseats; the floor were a mix between wood and natural stone giving you the impression that you were walking around in nature with the ground covering changing as you went. Lina made her way down a spiral staircase just as I was making my way into the kitchen and looked happier than I had ever seen her.
I built us a fire while she made us some tea and we spent a few hours sitting together chatting on the loveseat before heading off to bed; she showed me to a spare room that my father used to use when he would visit with them and she went off to her own room. I really wanted to spend the night with her but I didn’t want to try and push things with her too fast; other than an occasional hand holding her and there we didn’t have much physical contact. I really couldn’t complain though, just being in her company and being able to carry on a decent conversation without things being weird between us was more than I could ask for; hopefully in the next few days we could move onto actually building more of a relationship between us. I finally drifted off to sleep thinking about what the things we would do the following day.
I woke up early and made Lina some breakfast with the things I had brought with us in the cooler; with a small breakfast made I went up to her room and after knocking served it to her in bed. When breakfast was finished we took out her fathers fishing boat and did some mid-morning fishing on the lake, we saved our catch so that she could fry it up for lunch later in the day. We spent a few hours just relaxing by the lake after lunch and I excused myself to make a quick call to make sure the plans for the rest of the night were still going as planned. We went back inside just a few hours before sunset and I had Lina go and change to get ready for the rest of the night; I asked her to wear something nice and an hour later she came back down dressed in a red halter top dress that hugged her in all the right places, I myself had on nice dress pants and a button up shirt but in comparison to her I feel like my attire looked dull.
“So what’s the plan Jonny boy?” She asked as she made it to the bottom of the stairs; I had to pull my eyes off of her body to be able to actually make my mouth form coherent words.
“Oh please don’t tell me that you’re going to start calling me that too.” I replied referring to the nickname that Jen gave me the first time we met.
“Maybe, so what’s the plan?” She asked again.
“It’s a surprise.” I whispered in her ear as I took her arm and led her outside.
“I told you I don’t like surp….” She trailed off when she took in the sight at the end of the dock; I had rented us a yacht for the night where we would be served dinner and get to watch the sunset from the middle of the night.
“Do you like it?” I asked as we made our way to the end of the dock, she still seemed to be speechless but if the smile on my face told me anything, she liked it.
“I love it, all this just for me?” She asked as the waiter on the boat helped her to step on.
“Just for you sweetheart.” I told her as I myself made my way onto the boat.
“This is amazing, thank you.” She stood on her toes and placed a light kiss on my cheek; I had to fight the urge not to turn my head so that our lips would meet again but thought better of it. I had plans for our next kiss and I hoped that it would go better than the last one, it had to.
The yacht took off from the dock at a slow speed and moved us out to the middle of the lake; we were served a nice dinner and had a few glasses of wine; luckily they only carded me when I rented the yacht and didn’t question serving Lina on the boat. When dinner was finished and the sun started to set I knew it was time for the final part of my plan and I was praying that it would go off without a hitch. I wasn’t much for country music but with it playing nonstop throughout the barns everyday there were a few songs that I actually came to like, one in particular that I planned on using tonight. I found an old guitar that my father had in the storage closet of my apartment and it didn’t take much time at all to remember how to play since I did it for years when I was younger; I moved Lina to the front of the boat and pulled out the guitar from where I had stored it while she was getting ready earlier.
“You play?” She asked sounding surprised.
“Guess you’re about to find out.” I replied taking a seat on the bench across from the one she was sitting on while I started to play and sing to her; the song that I chose seemed to fit her perfectly and I could only hope that she liked it.
You know I’d fall apart without you.
I don’t know how you do what you do.
‘Cause everything that don’t make sense about me,
Makes sense when I’m with you
Like everything that’s green, girl, I need you,
But it’s more than one and one makes two.
Put aside the math and the logic, of it,
You gotta know you’re wanted too.
“Cause I wanna wrap you up,
Wanna kiss your lips,
I wanna make you feel wanted.
And I wanna call you mine,
Wanna hold your hand forever,
And never let you forget it.
Yeah, I, I wanna make you feel wanted.
I had only made it through the first verse when Lina jumped from her seat, knocked the guitar form my hands and smashed her lips onto mine; I could feel her tears wetting my own cheeks as she deepened the kiss holding onto me like she never wanted to let me go. I had to pull back after a few moments just to be able to catch my breath but she didn’t let me breathe for long before continuing right where we left off. No words were spoken between us for a good fifteen minutes as we got to know each others mouths and bodies more than we ever had before; our hands explored each others bodies while out lips got to know each others mouths and necks.
“I hope these are happy tears.” I said once we finally pulled back from each other and wiped away at the few tears that still coated her cheeks.
“Of coarse they are.” She replied as she wiped at my own face to rid it of the tears she smeared on me while we were making out with each other.
“So does that mean that you believe me now?” I asked with a smirk holding her tightly in my lap.
“You almost have me convinced, but I could do with a little more… convincing.” She replied with her own grin before locking her lips with mine once more.
As I held her in my arms in front of the fire that night when we got back from our boat trip I couldn’t help but feel like my life was finally complete; I held the only thing that was ever missing from my life in my arms and I never planned on letting her go. Lina was the light that my life that was always missing and I would do everything in my power to never let it go; I would keep her light shining with everything I had, never letting it flicker or go out. She was my rock, my heart, my soul; Lina was everything I ever wanted and needed and I was still trying to come to terms with the fact that she was actually mine. I had a fear that maybe I would wake up and it all wouldn’t be real, it would just be a dream but the feel of her skin on mine, the heat of her body against my chest, the sound of her heart beating in rhythm with mine let me know that it was all real; even though it wasn’t a dream, it was still a dream come true. I finally got all I ever wanted.
