Part 24

Arnav and his team followed Ankush's car who was driving very speed.

"Speed up dammit"shouted Arnav to the driver.

Ankush on the other hand was terrified seeing police following his car. He cursed himself for acting soo foolish and fell into his own trap. He increased the speed of the car when he found the car is getting out of control. He tried to control it but he couldn't. He applied braked to stop the car but the brakes didn't work. Brakes of the car failed. Ankush was now sweating profusely and trying his best to control the car but of no use. It is out of his control. He tried to jump out of the car but the doors were jammed.

Soon, the car is out of his control totally and finally it dashed through the railing of the bridge and fell into the river.

The police who are following the car were shocked seeing it.. They got down and looked into the river which is full of water.

"Call the rescue team soon." Shouted Arnav to his subordinates.

Khushi, on the other hand is led to the hospital. Aman informed the family and everyone including Akash, Manohar and Manorama came there.

Doctor examined Khushi and said the wound is deep. She was taken into ICU and immediately started treatment.

Aman explained to Ratna and others what happened. Dadi sat down crying hearing what happened. NK too sat down feeling tensed about Khushi. Karan sat beside him keeping his hand on NK's shoulder assuring him.

The rescue team reached to the spot where Ankush's car fell and they started searching for him. After one hour of searching, they found the car and with the help of machines, they brought it out.

The doors of the car were jammed and they removed them. Then they saw Ankush lying dead in the car. They brought the dead body out of the car.

Arnav sighed seeing it.

"Take the body to further process" said Arnav and his subordinates took the body away.

He then rushed to hospital for Khushi.

When he reached, he saw his whole family and even NK, Karan and Payal present at the reception.

"Aman. What are all they doing here ? Why didn't you take them into custody ?"asked Arnav.

"ASR. They requested me to let them stay until Khushi Bhabi is fine" said Aman.

"What !! What happened to Khushi ?" asked Arnav.

"ASR. She was injured naa" asked Aman confused,

"Yes. But wasn't it small injury ?"asked Arnav.

Aman sighed, " NO ASR. The doctor said the injury was deep and taken to ICU"

"ICU!!" exclaimed Arnav, "What did the doctors said ?"

"They are not saying anything and asked to wait here" said Aman.

"Rubbish!! They have to answer me" said Arnav and rushed towards ICU. Others followed him.

When they reached ICU, doctor was coming out of the cabin.

"Doctor. What happened to Khushi ? Is she fine ?" said Arnav.

"Yeah ASR. She is fine now." Said the doctor.

"Then why did you took soo much time?"asked Arnav.

"Actually ASR, we just had some doubts so we took time to confirm it." said the doctor.

"What!! What doubt" asked Arnav confused.

" Congratulations ASR. Your wife is pregnant" said the doctor.

It took sometime for Arnav and others to understand this fact. Then a smile bloomed on everyone's face.

"IS it true ?"asked Ratna with a happy face.

"Yes Mrs. Raizada but.." the doctor stopped then looking at their tensed face, " Mrs. Raizada's wounds are deep. She will have occasional headache for few days. She shouldn't take much stress which will effect not only her but also baby. Also, she is very weak and anemic. She may have some complications during delivery. Give her some good diet and lot of rest. She shouldn't take stress physically and mentally"

"Ok. We will take care" said Ratna.

"Can we meet her ?"asked Anjali.

"Yeah. You can see but she is still unconscious" said doctor and left from there.

NK observed Arnav who is lost in his thoughts.

"Chote. Let's go" said Ratna bringing Arnav out of his thoughts.

"One minute Maa" said Arnav then turned to NK, " Say me truth.. Is Khushi involved with you just like Payal ?"

Family and NK looked at him shocked.

"NO" said NK, Karan and Payal in unison.

"Khushi doesn't know anything" said NK, " I didn't married her to you with any plan. It was just coincidence"

Arnav still looked at him suspicious.

"I swear on Khushi. She is not involved with us" said NK.

Arnav looked convinced by NK's genuine answer.

"Aman. Take them to police station" said Arnav.

"Arnav. Let me see Khushi once" asked NK.

Arnav twitched his face and it showed he is not in favor of NK's request.

"Please. For Once" pleaded NK.

Arnav sighed and nodded his head. NK went inside ICU where Khushi is lying unconscious. Her head is bandaged.. NK took her hand and kissed it.. He patted her head lovingly and came back with tears.

Soon Akash, Manohar, Manorama, NK, Karan and Payal were taken into police custody.

Dadi, Ratna, Anjali and Karan's parents sat there crying.

Arnav stood there with a blank face.

After few hours, Khushi opened her eyes and felt pain in her head. She tried to hold her head but the needle of the saline pricked her. She hissed in pain making Arnav who is sleeping on the sofa beside her awake.

"Khushi!!" Arnav came to her immediately switching on the lights.

"Arnavji!!" said Khushi blinking her eyes to adjust with surroundings.

"How are you feeling ?"asked Arnav.

"My head is paining" said Khushi.

"Yeah. It is due to injury" said Arnav. He helped her to sit on bed.

Khushi recollected what happened and how she landed here.

"Arnavji!! Where is Bhai ?"asked Khushi.

Arnav knew she will ask about NK for sure after she wakes up. He is ready with his answers.

"NK is not here Khushi" said Arnav.

"Where is he ? I want to meet him" said Khushi.

"OK. I will ask him to come tomorrow morning" said Arnav.

"Re... Really!!"asked Khushi.

Arnav nodded his head and gave her water.

"Doctor asked you not to stress more in this stage. It won't be good for the baby" said Arnav.

"B..Baby!!"asked Khushi, "That means... I ..."

"We are going to be parents" said Arnav cupping her face.

Khushi's face bloomed into a huge smile.

"I can't believe this.. I am going to be a mother" said Khushi keeping her hand on her stomach.

"Sh.. Don't excite or stress more Khushi. Now, have this" said Arnav and fed her food brought from home.

Khushi had food happily and took her medicines.

"Now Sleep" said Arnav and covered her with duvet.

Next two days:

Khushi is still in hospital. Whenever she asks about NK or any others, Arnav is changing topic or giving her lame answers.

Khushi is sitting on the bed when Arnav and Ratna entered the room.

"Khushi. We are going home now. You are getting discharged" said Arnav.

"Where is Bhai ?"asked Khushi.

Arnav knew this is going to come, "Khushi. You first eat complete breakfast. We can talk after going home"

"No. I won't eat. Say me where is Bhai ?"asked Khushi.

Arnav and Ratna looked at each other.

"You.. You arrested him naa. He is in jail. Isn't it ?"asked Khushi with tears.

Arnav sighed hearing it.. There is no use to hide anything from her. So, he sat beside her and said about everything.

"I know Khushi Whatever NK did is right but it is not in the eyes of law. He is a criminal" said Arnav.

Khushi let tears flow from her eyes. Ratna sat beside her and hugged her.

"I want to meet Bhai" said Khushi with a determination.

"No Khushi. I don't want you to meet NK" said Arnav.

"But I want to meet him" said Khushi stubbornly.

" I don't want my baby to experience prison's environment" said Arnav.

Khushi looked at him stupefied. She looked at Ratna for help.

"Chote. let Khushi meet NK" said Ratna.

"But Maa.." Arnav is going to say something when Ratna showed him her hand to stop. Arnav sighed and nodded his head as OK.

Khushi was brought to the home and she was welcomed by Dadi and Anjali. The house is in gloomy state. It is hard for Dadi to digest what Manohar and Manorama did. Arnav took Khushi to meet NK the next day.

NK accepted his crimes and Karan, Payal confessed how they helped him. Even Akash, Manohar and Manorama too confessed about their deeds.

After two weeks, the court have passed judgement. NK was sentenced seven years jail while Karan, Payal, Manorama and Manohar were sentenced for two years.

Khushi cried out bitterly hearing it.. Even Dadi and Karan's parents too were disheartened. But they knew their children deserved this.

Arnav and Ratna consoled Khushi reminding her about he baby..

Finally everything fell into place.
