It warms my heart knowing you all enjoy these oneshots of Squid Game. A personal thank you from me!
"Do you have to go...it's so early?" You pout slightly playing with the golden fox bracelet that Jun-ho gave you for your birthday present.
You were disappointed at the fact that your boyfriend, Jun-ho, had to leave. He had some business to attend to in South Korea. Yet here you both were in Japan, and he was a detective in South Korea.
"Didn't you say you have a business trip and you have to leave tomorrow nigh-"
"-Thanks for reminding me," You cut him off with a groan. It didn't matter if you were the CEO of one of the best Entertainment companies in Tokyo. You wanted to spend more time with Jun-ho.
You couldn't cancel your business trip as it was necessary. It wasn't a business trip, to begin with, but you couldn't mention to Jun-ho that you were participating in an exclusive gambling project in South Korea. Who knows how he might react.
"Anytime, and at least we have this whole day together?" You don't respond, clearly showing your disappointment of not having more time to spend with Jun-ho, but you completely understood.
Both of you couldn't miss essential appointments. Jun-ho had to work on a case, but he was very vague on it. You had to travel to South Korea, as you were part of an exclusive gambling project.
A soft kiss on your forehead grabs your attention.
"A kiss won't-" He cuts you off with a kiss on your cheek this time. "I won't fall for that one-" This time, he cuts you off with a kiss dangerously close to your lips.
"Not even close.." You wait for another kiss, but this time Jun-ho doesn't cut you off. Your eyes narrow at the smirk he directs to you.
"Your kisses are terrible," Of course, you didn't mean that. You give Jun-ho a soft glare, who laughs at your reaction.
The adorableness you held was cute, and he couldn't deny it. His pitch-black hair was perfectly cut and the gorgeous dark black eyes made you feel loved. You couldn't deny the handsome man before you.
"If you want a better one, you will have to wait until we meet again,"
...
Two days later, you and six other VIPs are seated in your separate private sections. This was your business trip. You took part in what was illegal gambling, betting on people who were in debt. You were an investor in the project, much like the other VIPs.
The seven of you were some of the world's wealthiest people, and you were offered an opportunity to take part in an exclusive project only certain people were allowed in. You felt bad that you didn't tell Jun-ho, but he was a detective and you couldn't allow him to get involved. Your mind couldn't comprehend what would happen if he found out what you were doing.
A few minutes into the game which was about stepping on specific glass panels, you noticed a waiter who had a familiar figure, although the mask made it hard to identify who it was.
You regarded the waiter and how his finger would twitch slightly every time one of the players scream as they fell. It reminded you of Jun-ho. Jun-ho would always twitch in unease when he witnessed something that made him extremely uncomfortable. The waiter was similar.
A moment later, you watch the man in the panther mask who gestures towards the waiter for a glass of wine. You could almost feel the uncomfortable aura of how the waiter felt. The way the old VIP stared at him and suggestively took the glass of wine annoyed you.
"Excuse me?" You call out to the waiter. It was Jun-ho but you didn't notice this. He turns to you and sees your hand raise with an empty glass.
Jun-ho relaxes his shoulders in relief, glad that you disrupted what could've been one of his most uncomfortable experiences.
When Jun-ho approached you, your eyes locked. His mind raced with sudden confusion. It couldn't be. But one look at your wrist, and he knew. His heart sank. The golden bracelet with the symbol of a fox instantly told him, that it was in fact you.
Your strict presence made him swallow roughly. For the first time, he felt highly intimidated by you. He couldn't believe it was you, but he could tell you were a different person under your gold fox mask.
You weren't the Y/n he knew. You were someone else. It must've been a facade. Although why were you here? Are you involved with these people? Gambling on the lives of humans. Jun-ho didn't know how he should feel.
You gulped in nervousness. Mixed emotions, that's how you felt when you realised that the waiter was Jun-ho. The way he stared at you told you how he was stunned.
Was he aware that it was you? Did he know what you were doing here? But why was he here?
You gently grab a glass of wine, shaking slightly at the watchful eyes of Jun-ho. His mind still struggled to understand your purpose in being here. Maybe you were undercover, just like him.
"Are you not going to serve the others?" You question him. The interaction made you extremely uncomfortable. For the first time, Jun-ho's eyes had an indescribable emotion. You couldn't pinpoint what it was. He clears his throat, doesn't say a word and walks off to serve the others.
Jun-ho was frustrated because he still tried to understand why you, out of all people, would participate in something so horrific, something that was involved in his brother's disappearance.
...
A few minutes into the game, Jun-ho was agitated. Your presence here made him awkward. However, he couldn't get upset with you, if he as well wasn't very explicit about what his business was, here in South Korea. Although, at least he wasn't a part of something so evil and horrid. He knew you had your reasons, but why?
You felt guilty. You snuck glances at your boyfriend, but not once would he turn to you. His eyes focused straight ahead. This made you feel even worse.
"Excuse me!" A voice calls out for Jun-ho's attention. To his dismay, it was the man in the panther mask. He needed his scotch glass filled. The man disgusted Jun-ho. Treated him in an uncomfortable way. Jun-ho had no choice but to keep his cover, and acting out of place would have raised suspicions.
He slowly approached the man and filled his glass. You could tell he was bothered as his hands subtly shook. Before he can move away, the man roughly grabs Jun-ho's hand. Your eye twitched at this. The foul pig was touching your boyfriend. How dare he!? Unfortunately, you can't do anything, even if you want to.
"I don't want to have to keep calling you back. Sit down here,"
"I must serve the other guests, sir," Jun-ho states. Hoping this reason will save him from this uneasy situation. It doesn't.
"I'm going to keep this one next to me. Any objections?!" The man in the panther asks, and he more like stated it.
The VIP looked at you as though daring you to object. It seems that he must've caught on that you had your eye on Jun-ho.
"Actually," Your voice stops the VIP in his tracks, Jun-ho turns to you confused. You ignore this and walk over to the pair, grab Jun-ho's hand from the VIP and walk towards a private room.
...
It's been some time since you've entered the private room. Jun-ho was pacing up and down in the room, both of your masks were off. Your chest felt tight. As though you couldn't breathe.
"I don't get it- Why?" He asks frustratingly running a hand down his face.
"Does it really matter?" You ask. An unnecessary question but you had to know how Jun-ho would answer. He turns to you but doesn't respond.
"I'm sorry.." You apologise, looking down in defeat.
"You know..they were a part of my brother's disappearance," Jun-ho explains as he stops pacing. You sigh. It made complete sense now. He was so persistent on the business he had to deal with here in South Korea.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know," You apologise again. Not sure what would be the right response. "It's alright.." But you didn't believe that. Your mind is filled with negativity. You could only imagine what your boyfriend was thinking;
Jun-ho couldn't be with someone who was involved with a corrupted scheme that took away his brother. That was involved in the deaths of dozens of human lives.
"Are you going to break up wit-"
"Don't you dare finish that sentence Y/n," His tone of voice is serious. He wraps his arms gently around you. "I would never break up with you, over something like this...I love you and that will never change,"
Your eyes blur, tears ready to be released from your eyes. Jun-ho kisses away your tears and holds you even tighter.
"I can't believe I was probably involved in your brother's disappearance," You say softly.
"You weren't. They were, and I plan on exposing them..." Jun-ho stops for a moment, a thought entering his mind. "You could help me expose them?" You immediately nod your head, but confusion enters your mind.
"But..I'm involved with this...I was involved in the deaths of people," You inform him. Jun-ho tilts his head at your statement.
"Perhaps you were, but you're willing to help me now. It won't go unnoticed Y/n." He stretches his hand out to you in anticipation. Without a second thought, you take his hand.
"But before we go, I believe I promised you a proper kiss," He smirks at you, causing your cheeks to warm at his intense gaze.
"I believe you did."
