Torn Hearts (Drewzert angst + Drewgineer)

WHY AM I DOING THIS 😭😭😭😭
- Serena

Drewzer stood in the doorway, his fists clenched at his sides as he tried to meet Fibbert’s eyes. The late afternoon sun streamed through the windows of their shared apartment, casting long shadows over the cracked tile floor. Fibbert was standing by the kitchen counter, his face twisted in disbelief, as if he hadn’t heard correctly.

“You’re leaving me for him?” Fibbert’s voice was barely steady, his hands gripping the edge of the counter so hard his knuckles turned white. His hair, usually messy in a charming way, looked tousled with frustration, as if he’d run his hands through it too many times in the past hour.

Drewzer shifted uncomfortably. “I… it’s not like that, Fib,” he muttered, unable to keep his voice from trembling. “Engineer just—”

Engineer?” Fibbert interrupted, scoffing bitterly. “The guy with the horns and the—” he waved his hand, “—freaky robot aesthetic? You’re telling me you’d rather be with him than with me?”

“It’s not that simple,” Drewzer whispered, his gaze falling to the floor. His chest felt tight, like he could barely breathe under the weight of his own words. He wanted to say something that would make this all easier, something to make the hurt in Fibbert’s eyes go away, but nothing came out.

“Then explain it to me,” Fibbert snapped, his voice cracking. “Explain how after everything, you’re just walking away.”

Drewzer squeezed his eyes shut, guilt crashing over him like a wave. Fibbert had always been the one to ground him, the one who kept him steady when the world felt like it was spinning out of control. But with Engineer… everything felt different. Maybe even exciting in a way he hadn’t expected.

“Engineer just understands me, okay?” Drewzer said, the words tasting bitter on his tongue. “There’s something about him that makes me feel—alive.”

Fibbert’s shoulders slumped as if Drewzer had punched him in the gut. “And I don’t? Is that it?”

“No, Fib. You do. You did. But—” Drewzer hesitated, feeling the ache in his chest deepen, “—I don’t know if I’m what you need anymore.”

Fibbert stared at him, eyes shimmering with unshed tears, his breath coming in sharp, shallow bursts. “Don’t do this,” he pleaded, voice barely above a whisper. “We can fix it. Whatever it is, we can fix it.”

Drewzer’s heart shattered at the desperation in Fibbert’s voice. For a moment, he almost stepped forward, almost reached out to touch him, to hold him and promise they’d make it work. But then, he thought of Engineer—how easy things had been between them, how his strange, quirky charm had drawn Drewzer in.

Drewzer forced himself to step back. “I’m sorry.”

The apology hung in the air like a final blow.

Fibbert’s expression crumbled, his face contorted in pain. “I can’t believe this,” he muttered, running a hand through his hair again. “I can’t believe you’re choosing him over us.

Drewzer didn’t know how to respond. It wasn’t about choosing Engineer over Fibbert, not really. It was about the way he felt when he was with Engineer, about the part of him that had come alive, that part that had been dormant for so long.

From behind Drewzer, the door creaked open, and Engineer appeared, standing awkwardly in the hallway. His eyes flicked from Drewzer to Fibbert, the horns he wore catching the fading light. His normally goofy demeanor was subdued, and there was a heaviness in the air that even he couldn’t ignore.

Fibbert’s gaze hardened as he looked at Engineer, his fists clenching by his sides. “You really think you’re better for him?” he spat, his voice thick with pain and anger.

Engineer shifted uncomfortably, glancing at Drewzer before responding. “It’s not about being better, man. It’s just… we clicked. I didn’t mean for this to happen. But Drewzer and I, we just—”

“Stop,” Fibbert interrupted, his voice breaking. “I don’t want to hear it. Not from you.

Silence fell between them, the tension thick and suffocating. Fibbert’s chest rose and fell with heavy breaths, his emotions threatening to spill over. Drewzer wanted to say something to make this easier, to tell him that he didn’t mean for it to hurt this much. But the truth was, no matter what he said, it would never make this okay.

Fibbert took a shaky breath and turned his back to them, staring out the window at the skyline that had once been their shared view. “I hope he’s worth it, Drewzer,” he said quietly, his voice breaking at the end.

Drewzer didn’t respond. He couldn’t.

With a final glance at Fibbert’s turned back, Drewzer stepped out of the apartment, Engineer following quietly behind. As the door closed softly behind them, Drewzer felt the weight of what he’d lost settling into his chest, heavy and suffocating.

And for the first time, he wasn’t sure if he’d made the right choice.

I'M FUCKING CRYING
