RP Rules & Style
Well, don't say I didn't warn you...
1) I engage in literate, paragraph-style roleplay (para-RP). You'll often get two or three paragraphs from me per post. This means I may not post as frequently in group scenes, but I will give a lot for everyone to respond to.
Attention spans are important. If you get bored because I didn't reply in 20 minutes or because after a day of RP, you think that carefully-crafted plot is over, we're probably not compatible.
2) If you've ever read my stories, you know I am attracted to dramatic plots, complex characters, and turning expectations upside down. I don't do sexist tropes where the chaste, well-behaved angel of a girl falls for the abusive and entitled womanizer. It's the PG-13 version of bad BDSM stories, and even when it's written with actual BDSM---well, you get Fifty Shades Of Grey. I don't want to write that and you shouldn't either.
Point is, boring characters and bad storytelling with tropes, lack of diversity, and incomplete backstories don't do much for me. I love characters that make me think and feel, and I try to bring those to the table.
People are too interesting to live on the surface.
3) I write for all genders, sexual identities, orientations, races, and viewpoints. If I haven't captured something authentically or I've managed to offend by portraying something some are not comfortable with or used to--please talk to me about that. Whoever I'm playing, there's always a little bit of "me" in there. :P
4) While I write all kinds of characters, my specialty is writing spirited, "difficult", and even downright villainous women. The pretty princesses and naive ingenues have never been my thing, even when I was the right age for that.
I prefer complex and misunderstood characters, and I'm a pretty epic "Evil Queen". If your story has one of these waiting for the right person, give me a tag. :)
5) If you've ever read my stories, you know I am good with writing descriptive and "mature" scenes. :P However, unless a roleplay or individual is 18+, expect me to keep it as close to PG-13 as possible when it comes to sex, violence, or language. It is not necessary to be explicit to get your point across.
I'm over 30. This means I'm old enough to have kids who could be RPing on Wattpad. Because of this, I am careful with how I interact in and out of character. I'm also an Ambassador here, which means appearances matter. Even if it's RP, some things are just not appropriate. If that's the case, I will FTB (fade-to-black) rather than writing out a detailed scene, or move the scene to PM. I won't list what's appropriate and what's not, but you can ask privately about my limits or wait for me to flash the "stop" sign.
I will request to make my characters over 21, if age is not an important part of the plot. They are typically 25-45.
6) Always keep it in character, and remember that how a character behaves has nothing to do with how the writer thinks of you. Don't get caught up in taking RP personally. That's a long and drama-filled road.
7) No god-modding, metagaming, or OPed characters. If you don't know what these things mean, that's okay. They're all fancy ways of saying don't post what my character will say, do, or think before I do it. Don't give your character ultimate control of the storyline, though you can shake it up with your own actions. It's important not to blur that line of playing someone else's character. It really ruins the fun.
8) Want me to join your RP? Tag me or PM me, and I'll let you know if I'm free. I'm looking for literate group RP with well-developed concepts that will not be abandoned in two weeks when a better idea comes along.
* I particularly like historical, gothic, supernatural, fantasy, mythology, dystopian, and dark romance.
* I do NOT care for sci-fi, superhero, or most fan-fic based things unless I'm secretly a huge fan of the thing. (yes, I love Game of Thrones, The Hunger Games, Divergent, and a few other TV show/book franchises. I'm also a musical theatre geek-girl. :) )
* I would rather not write for pre-existing characters from literature or television, as part of RP is working on character development for me. There are some exceptions.
* No "school" or "family" RPs, please. I will give preference to stories where the characters and authors are old enough for R-rated movies. ;)
9) Yes, I have an Ambassador tag. Don't be afraid, I'm not watching you to see how many rules you break. :P I'm not joining your game to be a narc. I'm a friendly and approachable person who is here to have fun, just like you. :)
10) I may reuse some of my characters, with modifications. Most RP books are notoriously short-lived, and I hate to see a wonderful character never used because the story didn't work out. As someone who has RPed characters for years on other platforms, it's almost painful to see how many characters and stories are abandoned because the admin didn't wish to continue.
11) Please be respectful and considerate, and you'll get that in return from me! :)
