Personality:

Delphine is the only daughter of a somewhat privileged Dornish family, and not accustomed to hearing the word "no". At twenty, she stands barely five feet tall and her petite figure, along with her pale blonde hair, give her the appearance of a gentle doll. However, when she is displeased or frustrated, she has a temper that others have learned to fear.

She is every inch the proper lady, at least in public. Delphine never showed much aptitude for fighting, learning, and doesn't have a particularly warm nature toward children. However, she has natural artistic talent, with the voice of an angel, skill on various musical instruments, and the type of grace on the dance floor that others envy. She is a natural mimic and can learn languages quickly, showing she is not dull-witted, but has little patience for learning things she doesn't think apply to her. She'd much rather talk about the latest fashions than political concerns, and she is likely the most "star-struck" when it comes to the idea of meeting a handsome lord and falling in love. She can easily fancy herself a princess in a fairy tale, only prettier, sweeter, and much more deserving.

Delphine hates to be ignored. She is innocent-minded in many ways, believing that true love involves poetry, picnics, and white dresses. In others, she is spoiled, manipulative, and prone to keeping secrets. Her goal is to have the life she wants, please others, and still do what she wants to do and get away with it. She is the first to greet everyone warmly, to praise others, and to become everyone's friend. She's also the first to look down upon everyone and laugh at others behind their backs.

These qualities in a young girl are annoying, but tolerated with an indulgent smile. As the Bloodroyal of a house rich in resources, they make her a deadly amount of trouble. Delphine will have to grow up quickly if she stands a chance of surviving the world she doesn't even know isn't a kind place. 

Background:

At 20, Delphine faces the daunting task of rebuilding House Yronwood. She is an only child whose parents were assassinated by highwaymen (the old-timey word for "random mugging"), which was likely not random at all. House Yronwood has land rich in silver and gold, along with other valuable resources, and the only heir is a daughter who seems too young and too delicate to rule. It's a great opportunity for those who might want what House Yronwood has. Delphine is a tiny young woman brought up in privilege, not a warrior or a sharp political mind. She is elegant and charismatic,, but put in a situation where she's going to have to cultivate some other skills for survival.

Delphine is a born romantic who always thought she'd marry a lord who admired her wit and delicate beauty. The reality is, she needs to marry for her house's survival, not necessarily for love. Can she have both? Time will tell.
